    Eddie, great video as always. I have been waiting to install Scrypted until I can get my hands on a Pi4, but you cannot find a new Pi anywhere! I am glad you tried on a 3B+. With the Pi 3B+ only running Scrypted like this, how many cameras do you think you can support? How is the CPU utilization with one? Two? Three?

    Thanks Eddie for your content. Some observations: On Raspberry Pi 4B, I needed to install the legacy lite 64-bit version. The scrypted installation command you identified failed repeatedly when attempted on the non-legacy 64-bit lite version. Also, need the Amcrest plugin instead of rstp for their cameras if I wanted more HomeKit functionality beyond just video.

    Hi Eddie, thanks for great instructional videos. I have unifi protect cameras and a reolink door bell camera. I don't see you using Homebridge for this setup with rtsp streams. Which set up is better: Homebridge + Scrypted OR Scrypted alone using rtsp?

      Hello Chandra ... If you only want to run pure RTSP cameras and a dedicated NVR system = Scrypted.
      Want a all in one solution to support legacy devices as well as Cams with Homekit secure video - then Homebridge and the camera ui plugin.

Mainly /main/docker/install-scrypted... . The script in the link is /main/install/local/install-scrypted... I guess my question is should I edit command or go with what is in the web pge?

One question though - I have an IoT network / VLAN for hubs such as Philips Hue, Aqara etc and I really would like the PI to join that VLAN but will that give me any issues when my Apple TV is on my main LAN (different IP subnet) ?

    Hi, I LOVE your content and also installed Homebridge on a Raspberry Pi 4 and now I can see my Ring-Cams in HomeKit. What I wanna do is go further and install Scrypted to get the HomeKitSecure feature… My question is: Can I take off the MicroSD from my Raspberry which I used before to flash/install Homebridge and do the same thing like you discribing it here without worrying that I delete or overwrite anything on that SD card that I need for me provious Homebridge installation/setup? Maybe a dump question but I‘m super happy that everything is working with Homebridge and my Raspberry and I dont wanna ruin it when I take off the MicroCard to install Scrypted… Does that make sense to you/do you now what I mean? 🙈 THANKS IN ADVANCE & keep up the great channel!

      Before you can swap the SD cards - download a latest Homebridge backup to your computer. Then use a brand new SD card - Install Homebridge & Scrypted following the guide. Run both systems side by side and then import the backup to Homebridge. Everything will be back online. Cheers

    Eddie, I have read that PAM plugin for motion detection is deprecated and the current recommendation is OpenCV. Tried that and it seems to work great, but it’s constantly detecting motion. Have you, or anyone reading along here, ever used OpenCV to configure the motion detection, and if so, what size/threshold values are you using so that it is not recording 24/7? The defaults are not right.

    Just curious as to the “why”. Is it just another way of having your own NVR or to avoid paying for iCloud storage (when using HomeKit) or does it give some additional advantages over NVR/NAS storage? My video feed is stored on both my Amcrest NVR and my Synology NAS. Synology has all my camera feeds except the Arlo camera (the only cameras I regret getting). The Amcrest NVR only has the Amcrest cameras.

    Hi Eddie, is this still the most recent way to install Scrypted on a Pi4? Or would you say that your Pi5 video wit Homebridge/Docker set up is a better way to get security cameras into HomeKit (which is the main thing I care about)? I am having issues update Scripted on my Pi4 as it gets stuck on the update when I hit update and restart in the management console. So was thinking of starting fresh. Or any idea how to solve the update issue?

    • @eddiedsuza
      @eddiedsuza  5 днів тому

      I double checked and it's still the go to install on a Pi4 . You could use the Pi5 hardware and use Docker to install all the apps to maximize use and the hardware. If you do use docker - then make sure you also install watch tower to automatically update the docker containers.

That didn't help with the low power issue, so I decided to try a VirtualBox install. I have two working, one with Ubuntu 22 and one with Debian 12. I wanted to alert you to this. When setting up the camera now in Homekit, the advanced features of recording, recognizing objects, etc. are not available on all 3 solutions - updated r.pi, Ubuntu, and Debian. In Homekit, the message for the added camera says "This accessory has not been certified to work with Homekit so some features may not be available." Thanks for this video! I am interested in purchasing a Raspberry pi4 to accompany my Hoobs that I am using for HomeKit. I am hoping to get my ring cameras on my HomeKit to be more responsive in real time. My question is, do I remove the ring camera or plug in from HomeKit that I already have setup and re-add it to HomeKit with the scripted QR code? Or when I setup scripted with the ring cameras does it automatically update my Hoobs box for the camera links. Not really sure how this all work so I’m asking because I don’t know what I’m getting myself into exactly. If you have a link to something that you know would explain it that would be great as well. Thanks!
    I’ve been on Hoobs for a year now. Got all my stuff running the way I want it with light switches (Leviton), garage door (myQ), security (ring) and nest thermostats. My video feed on my Apple TV is so slow to respond and I was hoping purchasing a raspberry pi 4 and running it with script I would be able to achieve this. Thanks!

      Yes you will need to redo the ring setup via scrypted. Scrypted is another platform than HOOBS
