- Modify your Wah pedal into a Volume/Wah pedal, with this simple modification. NOTE: VOLUME DOES NOT CUT OUT COMPLETELY ALL THE WAY TO ZERO WITH THE MOD ENGAGED AND PEDAL BACK ALL THW WAY Bypass a capacitor with a switch, then when disengaged the pedal works as a Volume swell pedal. Nice dual function for a Wah
Im getting a used cry baby either tonight or tomorrow. Im going to try this mod but instead of a switch im going to try installing a 1/4 jack and connect it to a foot switch (jhs red box) for hands free switching.
::update 2:: I couldn't give up. I reinstalled the 1/4 input jack and properly insulated it and it works great with the foot switch! A must try!
Regular Dunlop CryBaby: ~50€
Regular Dunlop volume: ~110€
Turning a CryBaby into a volume pedal: ~5€. ⭐
Like, seriously Dunlop, wtf?
how about in Cry baby GCB95 does it work?
I'm thinking it will
Dude, I did the mod on mine but it doesn't completely reset the volume, can you help me?
You are right.
Its not the best volume pedal mod.
That is the one drawback. The mod does not cut the volume all the way out as mentioned in the video..I found the schematic for the mod on a google search and had the same issue, couldn't figure how to get it to cut all the way out, after no luck managed to get some interesting effects with fx pedals in the chain. Hopefully someone can figure out how to mod it to cut all the way, I'd try it too if so .
Good luck hope you get some use out of the mod.
Would an 125V 6A ON/ON switch work for this? Or what switch do you use?
Pretty sure... as long as when you flip the switch one way it breaks the connection and the other it makes the connection. Only use two prongs on the switch.. the center one and one of the sides. Hope this helps
Can you use wah and volume at the same time? Off: volumen on: Wha?
It only switches back and forth between volume or wah, you can't use volume and wah simultaneously with this mod. The built in footswitch still works to bypass both volume or wah.
Thanks 👍
Just wondering can you turn one back into a wah pedal?
Yea just flip the switch and it goes back to factory wah sound.
is it possible to mod it as a volume wah when its off and a wahwah when its on?
That is beyond the scope of my limited capabilities, found this mod on the interhorn and couldn't find a how-to video, so I made this one. Now I'm curious how wah and volume would sound synced together. Cheers.
@@Dreamdigger thanks for the response
yes, desolder the original switch and solder it to always on position.
use the original switch instead of the small one in the video.
Can u do this with a Vox wah
Not sure... I found the schematic for this one on some guitar forum I think, the just rolled the dice..if I had a vox I'd go searching the mod pages..I bet there is one
does it work in mini ?
Try looking for a schematic for the mini online somewhere, I couldn't find one at first glance, but if it has a similar circuit it might be worth opening up and looking for the 4.7uf capacitor and then remove it to see if it works as a vol pedal....you could always put it back in if it doesn't work, that was my plan on this one but it ended up working.
@@Dreamdigger it worked but when i turn volume down it doesnt becomes volume 0
@@lordrahulcool Yes I have the same issue with it not going to zero. Maybe there's a way to add a resistor into the circuit with the switch as well.
I was thinking about testing some things adding a resistor but now have got into some new projects.
I was concerned about the signal dropping to a lower level at max vol setting with the new resistor in the pedal, but maybe someone knows how.
If you can figure that one out I'd like to make it go to zero as well, for now at least it does more than wah. Good to know it works on the mini. 👍
Yeah man
Thankyou. Your video was really well.. subscribed
That fragile little switch would probably get snapped off before you make it to your first gig. Should've used a low profile switch
I guess it would be ok for a cybermusician who never leaves the bedroom. It wouldn't last long otherwise.
Yea good call best to use a better quality low-pro switch, but for the bedroom or studio its a golden opportunity for any old random switch you can find. Those low pro rocker switches might need a bigger hole,
something to consider.
@@Dreamdigger They make bigger drill bits.
