I cut a hole in the side of my synth case for this little guy and it was well worth it. Works well with the MAQ 16/3. Drums are from Korg EMX. CV outs from MAQ16/3 to A192-2 CV to MIDI converter, from there to J-omega electronics MTP-90 MIDI parallel converter, then to organ keys relay circuit. A bit glitchy using CV's, Next thing to try will be straight MIDI out from MAQ16/3 directly into the MTP-90 organ mod.

      You are right. Its not the best volume pedal mod. That is the one drawback. The mod does not cut the volume all the way out as mentioned in the video..I found the schematic for the mod on a google search and had the same issue, couldn't figure how to get it to cut all the way out, after no luck managed to get some interesting effects with fx pedals in the chain. Hopefully someone can figure out how to mod it to cut all the way, I'd try it too if so . Good luck hope you get some use out of the mod.

      Pretty sure... as long as when you flip the switch one way it breaks the connection and the other it makes the connection. Only use two prongs on the switch.. the center one and one of the sides. Hope this helps

The day I produce some decent tracks then recognition may follow. In the mean time practicing guitar and getting out to the wilderness to do some gold panning and metal detecting is key. You got me thinking about the gear again .., its been a while, time to make some beats hopefully they will be decent this time around. Cheers and thanks for the inspiration.

      I think you would just send the vocal track to your compressor from one of the the effect sends then back in on a new input like G or H Then pan that return track where you want it ...hope this helps ....keep the fader down on the vocal track and up on the return track, unless you want parallel compression. Maybe you could run the vocals through the comp on the way in and record wet too.

The tape size is small way less than 5" more like 1/2 inch. Has four tracks tho...im going to try run a tape from an old 8 track thru it to see if it will play unwound 8 track tapes. This machine is not the best, and wasn't recording well at all last time I hooked it up. If you invest in a Decent 4 track rtr you will probably get more enjoyment than a cheap clunker like this. The FS-30 is awsome but no stock midi..! .also the big washy delay is a strymon elcapstan. The organ has a basic drum machine with some cool vintage drum hits, but I'm using a korg electribe sampler esx1. I midi hacked the organ and sequenced it with the Doepfer MAQ..but I dont recomend modifying it for midi unless you are ready for some serious soldering. Maybe there is an easier way to mod it...but it sounds great as an organ..fun along with your drum machine and fx. But you'll have to play it manually.

    How are you enjoying working with the Tascam? Been working with Cubase for 20 years and have had some multitrack units in the past that I enjoyed using. • @Dreamdigger
      @Dreamdigger 4 роки тому

      Great machines to work with, I use it for most my recording, the DP24 has MIDI and a CD burner, the 32SD doesn't. I was using the MIdi out to clock everything and the record button starts the rig, but now it's midi is unplugged and it's back to recording files and bouncing them out to cubase or ableton. I like using it with the outboard compressor and transformer section. Pros: Really easy to use and make recordings, its simple to setup and get a mix going. It sounds good to my ears better than my BR600. Lots of Vtracks :) Cons: no outboard inserts on input channels, no individual track outputs You have to send them USB to computer from a menu after recording. MIDI implementation is not great and nil on 32sd. All in all I have been using MPCX for some audio recording and the TASCAM for others and the simple functions of the TASCAM is great to capture what's going on without much fussing around. Keeping mine :)

      Hey Lantern. If you are looking for a lightning fast way to record demo tunes this is it. I have been using the DP32 for 5 years and I came from Pro Tools. This unit is fairly limited for mixing in regard to effects, automation. busing but you can't beat it for super quick tracking. Another awesome thing is you can record up tp 8 track (virtually) on each individual tracks (and depending on the size of your SD card). So if you are liking your track accept for the bass you can select a virtual track on the bass channel up to 8 times. You can select the vertual tracks and audition what you like best. Down side is you can't A/B virtual tracks. What I like most is that it feels like a mini console (started on large format consoles) and have just enough knobs and faders to touch and twist to get the sound you are looking for. Once you get used to the central screen area where all parameters are tweaked you will forget about your DAW. . Just select the channel and all knobs will effect that channel. This unit is seriously portable. Quick setup and tear down. I will move this unit from different "stations" to record various parts and if you get a wild hair to record in an obscure locations as long as there is power you are good to go. You ever have that moment when that killer idea that just pops into your head or you finally remembered the riff you forgot? If you have the unit set up with a mic on your guitar or all 8 on a drum kit or the entire band, just power up (turn on phantom if needed, arm the tracks you want to record and you are ready to record. Power up takes about 20 seconds or so. On board guitar line in with effects and cab sims + tuner. You can dump your raw tracks into your DAW to get a better environment to mix in if you have that setup. Punch in and out, metronome, and has a very powerful mastering section with EQ, Compression and Normalization. Been doing research on and upgrade since my DP32 is getting to the point of replacing and for my needs there is nothing that can touch it in its price range. I was close to pulling the trigger on some new all digital unit similar to the DP series but it has flying faders, better mixing capabilities and more inputs, I am getting another Tascam DP 32 because it costs half as much features are great for my demo tracking needs and that all interfacing is on a touch screen or by a single joy stick configuration. All digital kinda scares me a bit and these new products are just that, new to the market. Tascam has been around for ever and basically pioneered the ProtaStudio!

      Questone ! ah, very cool! Yea, I love and miss hardware. It’s just a more enjoyable experience for me, and I try to mix as I track, as in getting the sounds and performance right up front, so post production and editing is really at a minimal. Thanks for sharing your experience. bTw, what’s the newer multitracker you are talking about that you considered replacing the Tascam with that has the moving faders? I used an Akai DPS24 for years, it was an amazing machine.

I really really like these new fangled machines that are coming out but I think of all the large format audio controllers/consoles that are collecting dust in studio storerooms across the land. How long will this hardware tech and format last ya know, like end of life kinda stuff. If I had some mad money laying around I would pick one up to play with it and see how it sounds in addition to a DP32. Far more flexibility for mixing, routing and it has flying faders with automation. Now, I gotta know what you end up getting! www.djkit.com/studiomaster/studiomaster-digilive-16-.html

    • @Dreamdigger
      @Dreamdigger 4 роки тому

      No MIDI out mod here..it hasn't been done yet on this fs-30. There's probably a kit somewhere that would use switches under the keys. I have considered ripping apart a cheap USB midi keyboard and using the circuits from that. Recent mods to the electone get a quasi clock output +5v / 0v from the drum machine on the electone. This pulse can be multiplied and sent to say a RS-300 cv to midi eurorack module and presto electone will be master midi clock! But yes, you got me..no midi out yet, and the midi in works glitchy so it's not a perfect mod. But it still is fun. For the MIDI clock out (work-around)..parts are in the mail. Will post a vid. when the organ clocks the rig.

      The mother looks like a nice starting point, you could def build from there..I watched an ozric tentacles video pretty cool... to get something sounding like that you'd need some kind of big delay reverb fx pedals/box, also a big workstation keyboard with keys would help so you can jam out and can save multichannel midi tracks to playback through your semimodular/s. Not sure what's out there now my korg TR is like a master brain for all my synths it can send out 16 midi sequences simultaneously. Then save it to a song in the keyboard. @@tesorotesoro1654 Check out the Arturia line maybe the minibrute 2s I don't have one but it looks pretty cool.. also check out Moog, Korg, Doepfer, MFB just type in "Analog Synthesizer" on ebay and do a little UA-cam research .... be careful to check the input voltage before buying some are only good fo Japanese 100v etc. Roland has some nice gear also native instruments. There's really a lot iout there so it all depends on what kind of sounds yer looking to make. Old toy yamaha keyboards with MIDI are fun to sequence you can find them at thrift stores if you live in a city. find any synth with knobs, midi, and CV/gate inputs and outputs and you'll be able to build on it. Hope this helps, good luck they are addictive ;)

      knobs: not too bad kinda rubbery like a korg tr.. but I did notice some occasional random click type noises from the output if your reefing away on em.

    So the tuning of earlier oscillators effect later ones? So you wouldn't be able to run different sequencers to different oscillators without CV bleed-through? Or am I missing something? I've been looking at this module for a while now but was under the impression the oscillators were independent. Awesome video though!

      +evwaldron Each of the Pitch CV jacks 1-3 are normalled to the jack above it, ie. CV 1 will affect all oscillators unless they are patched. CV2 will affect OSC 2-3 unless CV 3 is patched... However, the (Tune Knob 1) affects all three oscillators even while they are receiving different pitch CVs. So each oscillator can be patched an independent CV, with no bleed through to the other oscillators, and outputs can be individually patched out. Just set the Tune knob 1 and leave it, and let the patched in CVs do there job. This Demo barely scratches the surface the OSC-3's patch capabilities. will post some better sounds when I get a chance.

      +Organzoner Thanks for the input!!! There is very little info and even fewer videos of the OSC-3 beyond the manufacturers description. So, in a way, you could use Tune 1 to "transpose" the CVs of all 3. Like I said before, I've been looking at this module for a few months now. I'm looking to take the plunge into Eurorack and this module with a Tiptop Audio Happy Ending kit seem like the perfect entry point for me as I already own a Microbrute and can use that for a filter, CV source, Envelope, and LFO. The two would come to about $400 after shipping and then I could buy a module a month until I've built up a really nice system.

      +evwaldron The oscillators all have separate cv-inputs for pitch (standard 1V/oct), so you have three voice polyphony if you have the keyboard for it. The normalization just means that you don't have to patch the oscillators independently if you don't want to. They will all answer to the first cv-input, and thus spare you multipel modules and stuff.
