- Adam opens and shares two gifts from fans he received at a recent convention: a COD-inspired mask based on a pun, and this lovely modded Casio AE-1200 watch, aka the "Casio Royale". Adam loves the NASA-inspired upgrades--especially the custom strap that looks perfectly suited for his orange ACES suit gloves!

Thanks for watching!
Do you still wear a watch, and if so, what model?
Check out our playlist of audio-described and accessible videos here: ua-cam.com/play/PLJtitKU0CAeiQLgj4PZ9onSW6YXIz5ADR.html
Definitely. From digital to fancy mechanical time pieces.
Just started wearing a garmin fenix 7x!
Timex bullseye
Over time I've collected about fifty, mostly digital Casio, watches, from 1985 up to now, some turned out to be quite rare. I have this model as well, it is really popular and a very good watch for the price. My wife just gave me a Casio Beach Time Lapse watch (dark version) for my birthday and it looks awesome.
I personally rather switch between wearing lots of unique watches than to wear the same smart watch every day.
Yes I've recently started getting into watches. I have a Seiko and a couple of smaller brands, my latest being an Erubus (Just one more watch) and a wooden dial one my wife brought back from holiday. I have modded a Casio Royal with parts from skxmod, but removed some of the extra text (Thanks Googone).
Hey Adam, glad the watch made it to you safely. Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed putting it together, Cheers!
You did great.
Incredible built Zac! The Skylab orange, matte grey case and NASA meatball colour scheme go excellently together! We're thrilled to see it!
could you put a linked parts list and video links on how to do this? I would love to build my brother one for christmas
What @@penningtonguy said, I am desparate for one of these, any info you could give would be really appreciated 😊
@zaccote6115 great mod and beautiful taste could you provide us with links to your parts.
And thanks
As a watch guy, I really enjoy when Adam posts his watch stuff.
I’ve been wanting a watch collection episode from Adam for a while
As a watch hater who hasn't worn one since middle school, I really enjoy when Adam posts his watch stuff.
What a spectacular creation by Zac! We're especially thrilled to see our Skylab '73 IVA strap included in the build! Like you both, we're huge space history fans, particularly for the innovation and creativity of the early manned space flight days. The Skylab era in itself is fascinating, to build a temporary station using components and the know how to hand. We've always loved your channel Adam!
The weathering on those fingernails adds so much realism. Wish more good watches had straps like that!
Im a watch guy and a space nut, proud owner of a 1968 Speedmaster, which my father gave me brand new in March. 1969, and is still running strong. I also have the Casio World Timer and wear it often. Your modded unit is amazing and I am inspired to do the same mods to mine. Thanks for sharing.
Have the G Shock G Lide. I was wondering if it could be modded to beep on the hour.
I wanna do this too lol, never found the world timer that appealing until now (I write this wearing a lunar pilot.)
Great story on the Speedie! I recently acquired my first and am enjoying it. Like many watch noobs, I added a G-Shock to my very small collection to wear in the field. The Apple watch is now on the stand and hasn't been worn in more than a month. ;)
Facemask is from a character with the callsign "ghost" in the call of duty: modern warfare video-game series!
Thanks from an old guy.
ghost is pretty much call of dutys mascot at this point.
Thank you!
oohh I thought it was Ghost Rider
Specifically, it's the version from the reboot series. Original Ghost wore a balaclava with a skull pattern on it, while Reboot Ghost wears a more solid skull mask
That's a pretty sharp looking watch, and as a kid who grew up in the late '80s and '90s wearing tons of Casio watches, I would absolutely love having one of those in my collection. Nice work, man! (And the spacesuit orange strap is *chef kiss*.)
Totally agree! Seeing a one piece strap on a digital piece always grabs our attention, let alone one matched so perfectly!
I've had this watch for almost 10 years and its still going strong. I love that it takes a larger battery and that its so easy to replace. Maybe its time to mod it.
Cooool! Looks like someone uses our matte white faceplate to make this NASA mod. Adam, if you want something more durable than the original casing. Or just keep accessoring it. Just let us know!
Its a beautiful mod!
Oh dear, I didn't know about you until this video... I get the feeling am about to give you a lot of money
You guys should make these faceplates with the worm logo pad printed on like Adam’s!
Any chance of seeing straps like this on your store page?
Was just about to say... I know all those mods. Mostly because I used a bunch of them to build my X-Wing pilot watch. Still saving up for the matte black case to build my next Tie Defender project. BTW, you guys make an amazing product!
Spotted the thumbnail and immediately thought "Oh nice! Adam got another Tom Sachs creation" but this is possibly even better. What an amazing piece with kind and completely mirrored sentiments addressed to the Tested crew along with it. A clearly happy Adam.
"Ghost Buster" is absolutely flooring me with laughter. HOW DID IT TAKE THIS MANY YEARS?!? This seems to blindly obvious to me now, oh so many years wasted not dressing up as "The Ghost of Busters Past" as well.
That's an awesome gift. The watch mod community is a really good one with a tonne of creators sharing their skills and ideas with the world. I own the original version of this very watch, which is famous in the watch collector world. It's cheap, but keeps excellent time, has a heap of useful functions and can easily be modded like this example. Love it. ❤️❤️
That strap is soooo cool!
I recently got into watchmaking this past year, and I gravitated to railroad grade watches, historical advancements, and George Daniels. There are some fascinating videos here on UA-cam about the man. His watches are a leap forward when the world was looking for cheap accuracy. No oil required, a novel escapement mechanism, and entirely handmade minus a hairspring or so. His Space Traveller is a masterpiece, but his Grand Complication that he carried to the day of his death was my favorite. He is one of the master makers we have known as a species, and his legacy lives on in Roger W. Smith, Omega's Co-Axial Escapement, and all the people he still inspires.
That way is a staple for thousands of collectors. It's a great beater budget watch . I've owned one for many years the weather great and look great . Nice gift
Adam you got me into watches with your modded Seiko. My first watch was an SKX that I modded. I’m now a Seiko fanatic and amateur watchmaker and love nothing more than stripping down and servicing vintage Japanese watches. I thank you sir.
Same ... my favourite at the moment is a 1973 gold-faced "Pogue" which I restored.
I'm sure Adam would love that as the "first automatic chronograph in space"
It's sad being a seiko fan in the current watch enthusiast climate isn't it? Just returned one for qc issues, said fk seiko I'm done and bought a lunar pilot, only to now be considering an alpinist for its absolutely wild price cause they're just that good looking on a bracelet, only to find that they still managed to fuck up the bezels on a watch that you can align yourself...... Ugh.
@@JETBLACKPRIEST The blue and white one I hope !
I'd be lying if I said that his generosity didn't have any effect on me 😂 That was A+ and he made my day with a great show and tell that checked all the boxes , and it would be Awesome to see it in some future uploads 🐒🚀
Yes! I've got two of them: 1 with matte steel case & bracelet and silver sunburst faceplate, and a bronze case with black caseback and black FKM rubber strap, which comes with a bronze buckle.
They're so cool.
I have seen a multitude of mods, BUT this one is really and by far: THE BEST ever.
5:18, EMF...thats a blast from the past...
Well done, Zack, that beautiful watch is such a great gift for Adam!
Holy cow, that is the coolest Casio I've seen in forever. I am mega jealous! Zack/Zach, you are THE MAN!!!
I've been shopping for a new Casio (I love Casios) and now everything available seems like it's not worth buying so I guess I should be angry at you Zach/Zack but it's so cool I can't be.
he did a great job. for anyone unaware and wanting to get into watches, casios are a great brand to start with if you're on a small budget. they are highly regarded even by watch snobs for their reliability, heritage and super reasonable prices.
that awesome looking watch is 40 dollars.
So cool. I just bought a "Casio Royale" two days ago and now came across this video that I haven't noticed before on Savage's channel. My new one will remain "factory", but I gotta say I really thought about buying two instead of one just to make a mod royale of my own.
This NASA one does seem perfect for Adam, and that strap is amazing btw!
EDIT to Adam: that logo isn't replacing the stop watch, that circular window is where your home hour remains visible even when you change to another world time zone on the main visor (for example when you travel).
I wear a Casio AE1200WH as well! My brother gave it to me as a gift for Christmas and he made a custom leather strap for it. I wear it nearly every day!
Dude, that NASA Royale watch is really sweet! Im actually wearing that exact Casio! The original body and metal band obviously.😅
I am sure I'll modify my own as well! 😂
I am a huge watch collector and that is an excellent one. The viewer did a phenomenal job putting that thing together
dude that's the coolest casio i've ever seen. i've worn an old gold casio that i found on the side of the road for a few years now because it looks good and i don't have to worry about damaging it but this is something else, it really looks like something an astronaut would actually wear
I'm not the biggest watch guy. meaning I don't get my jollies from them like some people do. But that's a rad lookin' watch, I would wear that.
@@zachvalue What don't you understand?
I love watching videos of them being repaired, etc... the mechanical watches are amazing little pieces of machinery, but I've never been much for wearing them due to sensory issues
Looks awesome! Do you have any content showing how you did it? Would love to do something like this myself.
@@Trotaaa I didn't do it.....
@@superslammer My thoughts exactly.
Ironically I just bought an AE-1200 and am wearing it right now. Two things about that watch: (1) it has a 10 year battery, and (2) if it has a catestrophic failure it's easy (and cheap) to just by a new one and swapthe main module into that custom one... the only tricky part might be getting a new NASA logo. Also want to get a new seal and screws to naintain the water resistance, but those are easily available.
I might have to get that Casio (not the modded one)! I have a 20-year-old G-Shock solar that I wear, and a couple other "nice" watches (Seiko, Pierre Cardin) for "dress wear" but you can't beat a basic watch like a Casio!
there's a stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal mod kit for this watch from SKX mod.
also, the bullbars made for the casio dw5600 do fit the ae1200 if you force them on.
Casually wearing a 7k$ moon watch speedmaster but he will switch to the ae1200 40 dollar casio for sure :))
I have that casio as well and I love it, very light and reliable
$7k for a watch? Seriously?
@@taj1994 Depends which one... I have the "reduced" which is about $2k, you can pay $50k+ for the nicer ones.
@@N_Jones I don't care how nice it is, even $2k is way too much for me for something that just tells me what time it is. Lol. That's almost as much as my car is worth (and nearly triple what I paid for it, including the new head unit I put in)
@@taj1994 ...each to their own. Everything is relative.
@taj1994 Well you don’t even know half of it then
Awesome watch. I've done a couple of simple Seiko mods so far. That looks like a future project.
That watch is PREMIUMK tier "Nasa-Punk" and I love it. Also thanks to both Starfield and Adam and crew's Starfield Frontier Ship build for introducing me to the very CONCEPT of "Nasa-Punk" as I am now currently obsessed with the aesthetic.
And not for nuthin’ that Casio will be more reliable than the Omegas.
100% true fact. ✅
And the battery lasts 10 years or so if you don’t overdo it with the backlight, and no hand winding or charging required.
Just works... straight up NASAs path.
Sure thing brokie, you would probably say a nissan is better than a Ferrari,
@@83dude Adam Savage (Mythbusters) complained recently that both of his Omega Seamasters are on the fritz. My AT went to get a service a week after I bought it brand new. Anecdotal evidence, but for pure reliability I’d trust a $250 Casio G-Shock (or Citizen Promaster for that matter) a lot more than a $6000+ Omega, simply because the number of moving parts is far smaller when you use electronics, and a quartz watch lacks the ultra-thin pinions that can shear off when you drop a mechanical watch.
This is not a criticism of mechanical watches, I wear them all the time, but if I’d go on an Omega sponsored expedition I’d have a G-Shock in my backpack as a backup.
I've had the same watch for years, and it's served me well! Although mine lights up Orange instead of Blue. Love a watch that doesn't cost the world, but still looks gorgeous.
This one has had its backlights changed from the OEM incandescent to blue leds. It’s a very easy mod, I’ve done it several times.
As a huge fan of both Tested and the "Royale" (I have three of them) this video was especially awesome. One of coolest AE-1200s I've seen! Ghostbuster! 😉👌
Have you done anything cool with your AE 1200s? I have two and lots of ideas but nothing yet.
@marcelodelpuerto395 one has the black and gold SKXMOD metal upgrades and tint film in the displays but nothing else as yet!
@@paulmcnamara2908 cool!
I love Casio watches the design the nostalgia the price the toughness and the dependability is unmatched 👍🏻
That is the coolest watch I have ever seen.
And I am not even that into watches because I don't like wearing anything on my body that isn't comfortable clothing.
I've got that same strap in black, gray, and white...it's amazing on a speedmaster. Haveston straps from the UK. Excellent product for a very reasonable price.
Many thanks! That's a pleasure and privilege to hear!
Both presents so cool. The watch is an amazing adaptation. The strap so nice.
I have 6 of these in different configurations, some with nice steel mod cases but the stock resin versions have a charm all their own! Nice build!
i just rebuilt an old Seiko 8A69 two tone from 1991. i can't believe how hard it was to find parts for it at a good price but managed to get lucky and found a broken one on eBay for $12 movement was still good total of $38 my main watch though is a zeppelin 8680-3
"And I - where is that one? Oh! Yeah! Here- uhhh... boop boop beep beep beep?" (looks around in bemusement)
Adam has perfectly captured how my brain works in these few seconds, and it made me giggle so hard.
Amazing watch! Love custom casios, my favourite thing about this is that the blue LED is just like the earth's atmosphere from space. I'm sure that was intentional, such a cool project
I use the classic F-91W with a customized backlight made with parts of an old gps lcd
That watch is BEAUTIFUL :) :) :)
That's such a stunning mod. Well done, Zack!
@WristwatchRevival 6:45 that would be awesome if you helped fix Adams Omega Seamasters!
Love this and my favorite A500W, light, good looking and functional. I use it as I work in multiple time zones in u.s and across the globe.
Out of all my watches, which include some quite expensive ones, I get asked the most about the Casio royal when I wear it. It’s literally like $30 with $100 worth of mods done to it. It’s crazy how amazing and eye catching that watch is
The watch looks awesome! I’m already a big fan of the AE 1200 - the “Casio Royale” - but those mods make it even more cool.
And it’s not a stopwatch that the NASA meatball covers. The watch still has that function. No, it just a small LCD version of a two hand analog display. It’s redundant and really kinda superfluous as it’s difficult to read for most eyes that are north of 20 years old.
It shows the home time which is useful when you're using the world timer function.
I have a modded AE-1200 as well. Looks pretty dope with the leather straps.
I don't care about watches, at all, I don't like wearing things. This is gorgeous, especially with that strap!
Zac , mate , if you see this I would love for you to do a vid of the parts you used and how you did it. You are probably not a UA-camr or want to be one but in the world of Casio Mod vids yours would make a lot of people very happy. I want to make this . All the best Richard
Second. I wan’t to know how the inner bezel was done.
Always love Adam's enthusiasm and appreciation of other people's work
I've been wearing the same old model, a basic $20 Casio watch for about the last 20 years. They keep great time and are extremely reliable, as long as you keep in mind what they're made to put up with.
Looks good on you Adam! Thnx Zac for the nice build!
I have three Omega Seamasters, a Garmin and I've just bought a Timex G Shock.............and I'm absolutely loving the G shock.
6:13 crazy nails
He's a busy guy😂
7:20 easy fix: on your phone set a reminder yo wind your watch😂
Way to go Zack!! -Beutiful thought and well made! I second your kind words to Adam! You are both inspirational!
That watch came out great! Zack did an amazing Job. Switch out the case for a full metal version and nothing could beat it.
Is there a Buy It Now button for the watch?
Just looked around, nowhere yet. I’ll come back with a link or not if I find it.
Yes I need to find the guy who mods it. I'll buy one.
The letter clearly stated that the maker was a hobbyist, following other UA-cam videos, to make a custom one-off gift for Adam. I doubt this cat has an Etsy or Ebay store peddling these watches. I'd suggest doing some research, and recreating your own version of it.
@@williamroark4760 I rather pay artist for their original work.
Search for Casio ae1200
And havestone straps .
Where the NASA face is from I got no clue :)
I would LOVE to see a full tour of Adam's watch collection! Stories of how he got each one and why he likes them.
Just bought a 1200 a few days ago, still waiting for delivery. Nice coincidence this turned up in my feed.
"Thank you everybody for watching" (08:18) - Pun intended
Such a gorgeous watch, No surprise that Adam loved it. great job Zack 🚀 💫
I have this Casio, must make this mod. Daily wear is a Seiko 'Pepsi' SKX009 which is almost 25 years old and still keeps good time.
What an amazing creation, and so swee to see Adam all excited about it and grateful. Great job Zach!
It blows my mind how far the interest in modding favorite things goes these days. It doesn't seem to matter how large or how small those things are.
Ooh, my AE-1200 is on a grey NATO I cut a waist in so it passes under the watch but also stretches to the edges of the lugs, but those strap adapters are something I now need.
Every new Tested video reawakens one of my many hyper fixations, and I love it. I adore watches, though I'm not a personal fan of wristwatches (I have very tiny, very bony wrists so they're extremely uncomfortable to wear most of the time), but I need to get back to hunting for a new pocket watch. I miss the rhythmic ticking.
Oh wow, two of my favorite (admittedly somewhat adjacent) worlds colliding, the NASA Royale and Adam! I've been glad to see the mod idea spread, but never thought one would end in Adam's hand!
Edit: since many people are already asking where to get one, as a modding project this is not very hard, here's a shameless self-plug to the guide to how I made the original one with a parts list included. The orange strap in the gifted one is gorgeous!
ua-cam.com/video/pgkNeigbGAo/v-deo.htmlsi=2InEOWYncNMDx9gE
Casio is the best, the more I collect, the more I realize I just want strap an F-91W, A168, MRW-200H, Edifice EFR/EFB, on the wrist. I need to add a Oceanus S100 to the collection and chill for a few years. Casio to Cartier is the goal, and I love a good Microbrand, or Citizen for value/quality. Quartz is where it’s at for me, with a NH35 or Miyota 9039 for my automatics. Love this watch though, congrats Adam.
I recently changed my Casio edifice leather strap to a similar velcro black apple strap n it looks so cool👌just like omega moonswatch
Wow what an awesome mode!!!! Love it!!!
I hope the casio marketing people are watching. Because THIS IS FUCKING AMAZING. 🎉❤❤
Absolutely beautiful watch. I'll admit, I'm a little jelly. But only a little.
The Cassio electronic watch was my first watch as a child. Then I wore Seiko 1982 for diving Automatically;) but I lost it. Seiko sport is also a great model. I hope I can find and buy these models in the future )))
on one hand that nasa logo blocks the whole stop watch, and you can use filters instead
on the other hand that is what makes this watch looks so beautiful
Suuuper rad watch! Hate to hear the omegas have been letting you down. Quartz is so carefree and easy it’s hard to beat.
In my opinion Casio is one of the best watch brands in the world !
❤ from 🇩🇪...
Those are certainly MAKER'S hands! LOL
Yes. Yes, they are.
I have a modded Casio AE1200 with a bronze case from SKX Mod, one of my favourite watches to wear.
I love my 2 Casios. Both are Waveceptors, one of 2007 vintage stainless steel chonker and my new one is a G-Shock Tough Solar. Can't beat a Casio for value for money and durability.
I love Casios, I love Adam, and I love the look of that great custom piece
Love the Casio Royale AE1200WH. The only mods I did to mine were the Jays and Kay’s adapter kit to fit a bit wider NATO strap I bought. And a custom screen protector layer.
I have two Casio Royals modded that way.
Fantastic watch for traveling in the world. And for less than $40, it’s no big deal if it goes missing. 😃 ✈️ 🌴 🌴 🌴
Sounds like that watch arrived just in the nick of time! It looks great, I'd wear one!
@Adam. You must peer down the rabbit hole for "Hydro-mod" for watches..
perfect project for the Casio Royale
I forgot that was a thing that existed tbh, gonna add that to the list of things I'm gonna do to the royale when I get it.
Watch guys will tell you that is one of the GOAT Casio watches
The mod makes it all that much more fun
Loved this! Very informative without sounding like a typical presenter. Thanks for making it.
I daily drive a Casio Royale and boy oh boy do I love this evolution.
Tech Burner original design!🤣🤣
Happy to see jays and kays on here. Great product. Small business.
There are aftermarket full stainless steel + sapphire AE-1200 cases available online in case you want to mod the watch further!
What a stunning watch! Such a sick customization.
I enjoyed airbrushing for Macy’s watches I did the counter shadow of the magazine. As a 4 color specialist at Blanks color imaging in Dallas Tx 😂yippee
Your always exciting Adam sincerely 🐝
