Great review, one of the best sphero reviews and a great review in general. Felt like you justified the product where so many have failed. Really glad i found ya! Keep the up the Greeaat woork!
Thanks! If you like my vids I can always use a little more help in sharing them! Sphero 1 is still around for a lower cost option, and they'll probably refresh the robot at some point, that's when we might see a price drop on sphero 2. Considering all the apps you can play with, I don't think it's a bad price.
My daughter has been asking for this so I came on here to have a look and see what all the fuss was about... And now I want one too! Great review thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it, and happy to help :-) If your daughter is interested in tech or programming, Sphero has a pretty great educational tool kit. Aside from just being a fun toy, I think it's a great way to test those logic skills.
I genuinely had fun watching you play with a toy during a review. Now I gotta buy me one and play. I had to hit like and subscribe. Can't wait to view more vids.
My daughter and I made a drone with wireless camera and cheese bait for the dog. This drone was made well enough to allow Sphero 2.0 to tow the weight of the K'Nex carriage that held the camera, 9v battery, and cheese deck ... moving on and off carpet. Sphero 2.0 Drone (AKA "Cheese Mobile") made with K'Nex and Wireless Camera
Also, I love that you respond to your fans. :). Btw I convinced my sister to buy one by showing her your video. She's 12 and what really made her interested was that you kinda personify it as a pet. We don't have any pets. Thanks!!
Idea: Luxor Sphero. A game where you can create your own custom maps and use Sphero as a pushing scarab and you use your i-pad or phone to look for matching balls that your scarab shooter has. Quite fun once you get a hang whith how to augment your reality.
Juan, excellent review! I just got one and I think it is a heck of a lot of fun. It is excellent for terrorizing my dogs. Thank you for your thorough review, I will be following you from now on.
Orbotix actually had a dismantled Sphero on display that had a camera attached. While the case spins around, the internal hardware is balanced like a segway. Think a hamster in a ball. The hamster doesn't go spinning around inside.
To be fair, there's one minute and 50 seconds worth of video showing Sphero in operation not counting static shots of sphero and demonstrating set up, or changing color. Gonna be doing a little more with Sphero as I go through the apps from Orbotix as well.
Very good detailed review. Your voice is very professional you could be on national tv as a tech host. Very well done many thanks for the upload. my cat loves ping pong balls so hopefully will love this.
First video I watched and damn, i love the high quality of it. You must put lots of work into them to be that good! Oh and you just earned a subscriber :)
Glad you enjoyed it! My vids take a little longer to crank out. My camera reviews for example usually work with dozens of different video elements. I like producing the kinds of vids I would want to watch though, so I'm always happy to hear other people like them too. :-)
Already purchased one for my daughter for Christmas but your review made me feel good about my purchase. Great review; I'll check out som eof your others; you did a great job.
Nice review! Had no clue about the Sphero until I researched the top tech toys for Christmas for this year. I always try to get my kids that one "unique" gift and this was a hidden gem. Too bad you don't get commission!! Happy Holidays!!!
+JuanBagnell yes this helped alot its 110.00 but for that much its quite cool and only thing it needs is a camera in side idk how that would work but it needs it !
I love hearing someone say "Growing up on a Nintendo.". I grew up and started on the Telstar console in the seventies. It only worked on a b&w TV and took 8 DD batteries. From there I went to Colecovision, Vectrex, Vic 20, C64, Amiga 500, NES, SNES, original Gameboy and onto the PC then PS1, Xbox, and so on. I completed the original Ultima series in the eighties on the C64. I was already in the military for three years by the time Nintendo came out. Good video tho, Juan. I was living in the past for a moment there. Heh.
Aw thanks! Glad you enjoyed! That swimming bit blew my mind. For water like that you're supposed to use a nubby cover to give Sphero better traction, but this little bugger is powerful enough to overcome the jets on low in that hot tub even without the cover. Pretty rad. I'm getting another Sphero for my Nephew. If you like the vid, I could always use a little more help in sharing and spreading the word!
Probably the best review I've ever seen in my life good job!!!!!! I want one but its a bit pricey will wait till they drop so I can purchase as wedding gifts
Well, yesterday I found a Sphero 2.0 at a local tender centre, and lo and behold, it only cost $25.50AU! I basically purchased it, given that it cost $199AU brand new. I am currently charging it, and hopefully it ought to work well. Fingers crossed!
+Ditzy Clouds at my school the librarian bought some of the spheros and she picks 2 team of 4and I was chosen and you can control it with the camera and once you are done you can watch the video. Their are also some called sparks that you can she through them and see everything that inside of them
I just watched your review on ScienceFiction.com. It wasn't posted there, so don't worry about having to hunt it down. I like your review of Sphero 2.0. Keep the good tech reviews coming! How I found your review of Sphero 2.0 was actually by going to an article on ScienceFiction.com that showed how people can make their own BB-8 droid from Star Wars: The Force Awakens by decorating a Sphero 2.0 ball to look like BB-8. What I would like to know now is has anyone thought of or tried to make a Baymax from Big Hero 6 using a Sphero ball? Baymax and BB-8: both marketable and lovable characters.
JuanBagnell And if you like movie reviews check out the stuff I've been posting to UA-cam. Antonio Tambornino's review of Big Hero 6. Antonio Tambornino's review of X-Men Days of Future Past. Antonio Tambornino's review of Dracula Untold. Antonio Tambornino's review of The Tale of Princess Kaguya. Any of those, and more.
I'm trying to decide between Sphero and Ollie for my 9 year old. Sphero is waterproof and has many more apps but Ollie seems to have more fun outside. What are you thoughts between the 2?
I personally side with the apps. That's what's made my sphero fun over time. The ability to teach kids programing and load different apps keeps it fresh.
We've tested it on all kinds of dogs. We've shot it with birdshot at close range and it doesn't penetrate the shell. You'd have to sit there and hammer at it with a hammer to crack the shell. We use a drill press to open them for testing. There's a video of us shooting Sphero with a shotgun here on youtube.
This thing would freak people out where I live. I wonder what people s experiences & reactions are with it in public. Most people would think it was a ball on the floor and if it started to move on it's own going back and forth without any obvious person controlling, they would be really freaked out hah
I know they've popped in brick and mortar stores around town, but I don't know if it's consistently carried by any retailer in stores. Buying online is probably the easiest way to grab one.

You can buy one from apple store, But it does not look so good in my opinion.
IDK if I should get the revealed version or just the normal version. The revealed version shows the internals but then it looks like a DIY thing instead of something you paid $120 for.
So my birthday is coming up and I don't know what I want. I just checked Vat19 and it came up with this! Question: which is better, Sphero 2.0 or Ollie? I don't know which one.
i love this video i am not huge fan of reviews but this video omg this is the video i ever in my life would see,i watched it so many times that i now even remember what you said thanks juan bagnell hats off
The augmented reality zombie bashing app *really* needs to have a Google Cardboard option added. How much fun would it be to see your zombie infested living room covering your entire view? You could even have the controls still using the roll & tilt method, so you just tilt your whole head to move.
Sorry didnt make that clear you don't need to do the thing when you open and close the app like test if it goes forward in settings there should be an option or read the instructions
Thanks Michael! Having a lot of fun making them, so I'm glad folks are enjoying them.
Cool
Wait wow
Great review, one of the best sphero reviews and a great review in general. Felt like you justified the product where so many have failed. Really glad i found ya! Keep the up the Greeaat woork!
THanks for saying. I'm glad you liked the video. I was surprised by how much I liked Sphero, so I was happy to share.
Omg best sphero review. I have been looking at getting one for a while, but most reviews didn't explain what I needed. This did. Thank you so much!
You convinced me with your clear and in-depth review and demonstrations. I will be back for more tech with you.
I looked quite a while for some reviews for sphero 2.0 but none have come anywhere as comprehensive as this one! Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it! I had a lot of fun putting this one together. I can ALWAYS use more help sharing my videos!
I ordered my Sphero about an hour before i watched this. This will be really helpful when I open it tomorrow!
I have a Sphero 2.0, Sphero BB-8, and a Sphero Ollie Darkside. Love em all more than anything
And who else thinks the Sphero intro is the most awesomely kid friendly intro ever
I got it for Christmas and the first thing I did is watch this!
MERRY CHRISTMAS! I hope you like it!
lucky
0THER100 XD if you want one wait until Sphero 2B comes out, it will be under $99
2B looks like it'll be cool, but it wont be waterproof. The lack of wireless charging is what helps 2B's price.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll correct that when I focus on the software more. Appreciate it :-)
Thanks! If you like my vids I can always use a little more help in sharing them!
Sphero 1 is still around for a lower cost option, and they'll probably refresh the robot at some point, that's when we might see a price drop on sphero 2. Considering all the apps you can play with, I don't think it's a bad price.
Awesome review man! Just ordered the Sphero 2.0 Revealed edition, can't wait to get it!
The Revealed is pretty sweet. I like being able to see the guts getting all whirly.
Your review has convinced me to buy a Sphero. And so far I'm loving it. Money well spent. Thanks, man!
So glad to hear! It's a really fun little robot!
My next best tech guy to catch on UA-cam. Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub!
Thanks. If you like my vids, I can always use a little more help sharing them!
Nice review! I have to get one. Off to see your other videos :)
THAT my friends is what i call a review! A whopping 16 minutes of knowledge goodness :)
Cagdas Aras LOL right on. Glad you enjoyed :-)
Nice review, I am sold, thank you Juan!
Nice! I hope you like it! It's been a fun little bugger.
My daughter has been asking for this so I came on here to have a look and see what all the fuss was about... And now I want one too! Great review thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it, and happy to help :-)
If your daughter is interested in tech or programming, Sphero has a pretty great educational tool kit. Aside from just being a fun toy, I think it's a great way to test those logic skills.
Mine's supposed to come in the mail tomorrow. I'm so excited I can't contain myself!!
Congrats! I hope you dig it!
I just bought this yesterday after waiting for so long I can't wait to get him
GUYS ITS SO WORTH IT I BOUGHT IT I WASTE EVERY DAY LIKE 2 HOURS PLAYING THIS:)
I genuinely had fun watching you play with a toy during a review. Now I gotta buy me one and play. I had to hit like and subscribe. Can't wait to view more vids.
First review i've seen of your's, looking to get a Sphero myself! I think you just convinced me, haha! Keep up the great work!
+xredline07x It's a fun little bot to play with :-)
Just got one half an hour ago, good review & gives me everything I need to know about it. Thanks!
evan8tor21 CONGRATS!!! It's a fun little bugger!
My daughter and I made a drone with wireless camera and cheese bait for the dog. This drone was made well enough to allow Sphero 2.0 to tow the weight of the K'Nex carriage that held the camera, 9v battery, and cheese deck ... moving on and off carpet.

Well done! Out of curiosity, what did you change in your comments settings?
it turns out i had it set so that only i could reply to my own comments.
Weird. I've seen a couple other comments posted on my vids from people that I just can't reply to. I wonder if it's the same thing LOL

Next version needs a camera.
I've seen people hack the Sphero hardware to make it more of a segway or roomba-like robot, while adding cameras.
JuanBagnell
Woot! Hardware hackers to the rescue! :D
It's really cool. I worry sometimes that people wont get to do the things I got to do when I was younger if all computers and toys are glued shut.
***** If it's a light enough camera that could be a really cool idea.
Yeah.
Juan, excellent review! I just got one and I think it is a heck of a lot of fun. It is excellent for terrorizing my dogs. Thank you for your thorough review, I will be following you from now on.

They look so cool! I'm asking for this for Christmas with an Underwater camera, so when I go swimming at a friend's house, I can film Sphero!
That would be a really fun combo!
Yep! ;)
Can you use you're phone?
I'm so happy to see a reviewer open without saying "Whats up"
I aim to please! Though I can't promise that I've never opened a video with a What's Up. I may have done that a few times in the past...
This is awesome, best review I have ever seen, I love how passionate you are about it
Glad you enjoyed it :-)
how is the sphero now? do you play with it? if not, when was the last time?
I went to the Mercer County Career Center for school today and there were some older students in the electronics room messing with the sphero.
Best sphero review. Captures all the features!! Thx heaps
Glad you enjoyed it!
First video I watched and damn, i love the high quality of it. You must put lots of work into them to be that good!

Nice review! Had no clue about the Sphero until I researched the top tech toys for Christmas for this year. I always try to get my kids that one "unique" gift and this was a hidden gem. Too bad you don't get commission!! Happy Holidays!!!
LOL! I would have made a mint on spheros ;-)
I'm so pumped to get one for my B-day!
YAY I'm getting one for christmas! i know how you feel!
This video helped me a lot in the choice to buy it. Thanks!
Right on! Glad I could help :-)
+JuanBagnell yes this helped alot its 110.00 but for that much its quite cool and only thing it needs is a camera in side idk how that would work but it needs it !
+matias rusi i hope you didn't waste your money for a future paperweight
Leafy SUCKS!!
They need to start talking to Disney. Sphero 3.0 could be colored to look like the lil Star Wars droid we recently met.
David Plentl AAHH! How great would that be!
JuanBagnell I want to buy it but first I need to know.. is it able to also work with ipod's?
Keegan Schaner I'm not sure what the cut off is. If you check out the Sphero website it'll list which ipods it is compatible with.
ok thx
You're welcome :-)

Yeah, thats an OLD video... Taking it back to classic GadgetGuy...
haha! Great review. I have Gen 1. Do you know if Sphero is the only product like this on the market?
Thanks for watching! I can always use more help sharing and spreading the word!
I have a 2.0 as well after an original Sphero, I love it! My kids and the pets get a lot of fun out of it as well!
Also from the generation Nintendo ;-) Really good review and I'm happy to have found your channel! Thanks and good work!
You're very welcome, and I'm glad you're enjoying my vids!
Im getting sphero in 18.05.2014 cant wait!!!!!
"Swim Sphero swim!" "I beat myself." lol. You sir are very entertaining to watch. Now I really want one. :)

Awesome review. Verybwell done. I now want a Spero 2.0
It's a cool little robotoy. If you enjoyed the video I can always use more help sharing it around the web!
Probably the best review I've ever seen in my life good job!!!!!! I want one but its a bit pricey will wait till they drop so I can purchase as wedding gifts
Are you getting married?
no a friend is getting married
Oh cool. You know, if they're into this kind of stuff, this really would be a unique wedding gift. Especially if you could do His and Hers spheros.
I'm so excited for getting this also great review
Why has UA-cam hid me from these kind of cool products?
Thanks got it for Christmas and I love it

Emma Roehrenbeck Congrats! I hope you love it!

Just bought this thanks to your review!
Mark Ammay Films Glad I could help! I hope you love it! I broke mine out again for my nephew. Friggen LOVED it.
I just bought one. It hasn't arrived yet but does this get boring after awhile or can u keep coming back
Great video. Now I really want one
I can see the potential of sphero as an adult toy
acash93 As kids and parents comment a lot on this video, I will refrain from adding the reply that popped into my head.
***** I don't have any issues, but many others do :).
acash93 designed to sell not to consume
Did sphero come charged right out of box or did you have to charge it before you played with it?
Man, that was a nice review. Congrats!
Subscribed already!
Glad you enjoyed and thanks for the sub!
I wasn't sure whether to get this, but now I'm sure I want it!! Thanks :)
Glad to help! I hope you like your Sphero!
I tried this at my friend's house. His dog loved it. His cat could care less, but when sphero got close, he freaked out!!!!!
Very good review sir.
Glad you enjoyed it :-)
I took my sphero to a skate park. Most fun thing you can do. Took it down the half pipe, and off ramps. This thing is durae.
Make the case totally clear. That would be cool.
Did you get this from the Sphero.com because I looked up Sphero 2.0 and nothing popped up
I saw the prototype at world maker fair in NYC!
I might get it now
This thing would freak people out where I live. I wonder what people
s experiences & reactions are with it in public. Most people would think it was a ball on the floor and if it started to move on it's own going back and forth without any obvious person controlling, they would be really freaked out hah
Jason Grimm That sounds like fun ;-)
It. Is. SO. Cool!
I'd love to see you do another exhuberent 16 minute video review on a regular ball. Id watch the whole thing. It is pretty freaking awesome though.
Have they taken down most of the sphero apps? I can't find most of the ones they used to have.
Are we getting spheroid 3.0 next year?
Thanks for telling what it can do
Can you only get it online or can you get it in shops?
I know they've popped in brick and mortar stores around town, but I don't know if it's consistently carried by any retailer in stores. Buying online is probably the easiest way to grab one.
You can buy one from apple store, But it does not look so good in my opinion.
IDK if I should get the revealed version or just the normal version. The revealed version shows the internals but then it looks like a DIY thing instead of something you paid $120 for.
Naw, throw a nubby cover on it. ;-)
Thank You! This video has been very helpful for me! :)
You're welcome. Glad it was helpful :-)
So my birthday is coming up and I don't know what I want. I just checked Vat19 and it came up with this! Question: which is better, Sphero 2.0 or Ollie? I don't know which one.
PokéCards // PokèTV Ollie is basically just a Rc car so get sphero instead
sp
Same here
i love this video i am not huge fan of reviews but this video omg this is the video i ever in my life would see,i watched it so many times that i now even remember what you said thanks juan bagnell hats off
do you own a sphero yourself or they just sent one for a review
tushar malhotra So glad you enjoyed the review! I was sent one to review, but I liked it enough to buy one as a gift.
I would like the Sphero being used as a gyroscope controller because some of my apps are hard to use when you have gyroscope controls enabled.
I got one of the originals for $50 on woot today. Excited to play with my car with it! :D
And Juan great review keep them up
Gabe Gauthier Glad you enjoyed the review :-)
How long will the Sphero go on one full charge?
I just got sphero today and I love it!!😉
Carolina Castillo Nice! Congrats! It's a fun little droid isn't it.
Yeah it is I just can't go up that ramp😂
Carolina Castillo Took me a little practice too ;-)
The augmented reality zombie bashing app *really* needs to have a Google Cardboard option added. How much fun would it be to see your zombie infested living room covering your entire view? You could even have the controls still using the roll & tilt method, so you just tilt your whole head to move.
Vousie V or at least ARCore support so the zombies could better interact with the real environment...
Sorry didnt make that clear you don't need to do the thing when you open and close the app like test if it goes forward in settings there should be an option or read the instructions
Sphero claims that sprk is "ALL NEW AND MORE UNIQE", but actualy its just the same such thing just tranceparent.
Great review, thanks!!
