    Great video, I watched it three times, hopefully I can start experimenting soon. I am surprised that decoders don’t talk to each other if they can measure the voltage used. That would eliminate speed matching. Great video, to bad I was sleeping in Physics in high school. Maybe I could have came out with the smart decoder. Cheers from mild Nebraska. Terry. Can’t wait for video three Gregg.

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms  3 роки тому

      HI Terry , glad you're enjoying the videos and look forward to your results! BEMF still isn't a "speed" sensor, it can keep a motor at a "speed" but it's not a RPM measure as it relies on current. If we had better drives ........you know where I'm going..LOL. Even if decoders could talk to each other, you would need a lot more smarts to enable that to happen! The best method is to reduce the BEMF to zero as soon as possible.
      Part 3 in a bout a week...I'm fighting a cold at the moment and have no voice.

    This is great, just what I needed. I have an Athearn MP15AC with Tsunami that won’t start with a load until it reaches speed step 10-15 out of 28 and then leaps away. It will run at low speed once already moving though. Going to try adjusting these CVs to see if that sorts it or if it’s something else.

    • @FishplateFilms

      Hi Mark, don't forget to adjust your start voltage CV2 before you adjust the BEMF . Watch part 1 of this series to adjust your speed table and start volts . Also you should use 128 speed steps instead of 28, you will get a smoother control :-).

    • @FishplateFilms
      @FishplateFilms  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Jason, it does depending on the loc and what you have set in 209, 2, and 210, but as a rule , I usually try for some slip at speed step 10 -15, using 128 steps of course! another one is to put a decent cut of cars on the loco and see how it pulls away. I find the Tsunami 2's need a lot more of 212, but they will pull a lot smoother under load at a lower setting of 212.
