Those cranes have a hell of a lighting system!!!
The cranes have fantastic lights, like daylight on our night shift. Digger operators know exactly when we are coming in thats for sure. 😜🤙
Looks hilarious sped up. The digger pitching those logs around like match sticks 😅 excellent vid
😂 Yes I can see what you mean. 🤣😂
To me watching them sped up a bit can be much more interesting and sometimes funnier. Normal speed tends to get monotonous and boring so I like the speed ones not everyone’s liking thou 😂🤙
wow good vid 👍nice to see the wall e's to stack it up for maximum safe loads.
Thanks for the comment Mike, it’s all about safety. Happy watching 🤙
Amazing process. My dad hauled pulpwood back in the early 80s. I find this relaxing...
Glad you enjoyed it, Their will be more in the New Year so keep watching. Merry Xmas
Awesome video with great footage. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the positive comment. New Year new videos. See what I can come up with 😜🤙
0:41 OK junior. Time to play in here.
🥴😂🤣🤙
Impressive grab - certainly a big step forward from the wires and log head.
It sure is a huge difference with these grabs. Much preferred than the ship crane that’s for sure 😜🤙
Gotta to love all the timber being the same length
Their are different lengths of timber, the digger operators call in what is needed and it comes to us butted up flush making it easier to position on the boat and less work for the diggers
Brain Damage!
It is hard to appreciated the massive scale..
Climbing up into the cabin of that big crane grabber toy gives some perspective!
It looks so easy...but WOW, the trust these fellas must have!
Amazing!
The digger operators have a huge amount of trust in us up in the crane. They don’t really have a lot of room to escape so we have to be on our toes to put it in as safely as possible.
Awesome vid mate! Logging trucks pass my gate from dawn till dusk but I never raally think about the process after that. Very skilled operators. I bet they go to bed at night and all they can see is logs!
Thanks for the comment Corin, we have a lot of skilled guys here and work to many hours each but the job is good. And yes we dream of logs 😂🤣🤙
Very neat, the way they pick up a whole bundle of logs in one go
Up to 35 tonne
cool operation !! very high production !! i wont mind seeing some more action from there !! thanks for the video !!!
Will do my best to keep them coming. Trying to find different angles to. Thanks for watching 🤙
your welcome !!
Excellent video, mesmerising to watch.
Thanks for the comment Diane, Happy New Year 🤙
Wow thanks for sharing i didn't realize they used a excavator too finish off stacking I've always thought the main crane did.
In some countries the crane drop stows all the logs, some companies here drop stow still I think but our company use excavators to get as much on as possible leaving a tidy and safe stow for lashing.
@@daibach999 cool thanks bro.

Loving the neon green grab and vehicle's
Yes it all comes together and we work well in a team here. Thanks
Very cool video!!! I’m a logger and we were cutting pine logs and loading into containers and then shipped to port. This way looks a lot more efficient than loading into 40ft containers. Keep up the great work with videos. I really enjoyed this!!!! Thank you 🙏
Thanks for the comment 😜 I’m sure we still load logs into containers here to but not so mush now. Much prefer the new cranes fancy cab and aircon 🤣 stay safe bud
@@daibach999 I know that’s right. They had a pretty cool system to load the containers with. We cut all 19.5 ft logs that was going to China for furniture lumber. Stay safe bud!!!
The new grabs have been purpose built for this work, took some time to get used to them also the cranes as they came new but work well together. So where in the world are you ?
@@daibach999 I’m located ab 70 miles north of Charleston South Carolina USA. Logging is our number one gdp They call this the pine belt. Very impressive loading, looks so efficient
Very efficient yes indeed. Working them tonight much more comfy than a ships crane that’s for sure
That's some sharp mahi bro that crane is a beast taking full packets like that of those shuttle trailers they hold a lot of wood. Nice Stowe by digger opps too.

very good and fast loading
Loading is quick yes but safely is tops 🤙
what a great job
Yes its a cool job, lots of brain strain getting used to it but like everything else you get their in the end
If you get the chance to do this again you should place a camera on the excavators in the ship so we can see their perspective

😂😂 Monday 29 March 2021. Laughing through the tears because Carter Holt Harvey, one of New Zealand's largest timber producers has said it can't (won't) be able to supply timber to a lot of timber supply chains Mitre10, Bunning's etc. Because they can't produce enough timber. Then I watch this, I know it's 4 months old. 🤔🤬
Don’t know who the suppliers are but yes heaps of timber exported that’s for sure
timber is been hoarders in Auck East Tamaki by three speculators,
they have taken 9 months of CHH supply & production. !!!
Wow, how many logs fit in that bulk carrier? A whole forest? How many ships like that are you loading per week/month?
Hi and between 26,000 to 44,000 tonnes of logs depending on the ship and maybe 3 ships per week. All depends shipping is up and down
thats so cool me wow
Thank you glad you like 🤙
Awesome mate
Thank you! Cheers!
So you guys are also stupidly exporting your timber overseas, to then buy it back later, just like us in Aus!
We are copying you guys then but yes makes you think ah 😂🤙
Масштабно 👍
Да, действительно в большом масштабе. Каждую неделю из нашего порта выходит множество кораблей с бревнами, направляющихся в Китай и Индию.
Nice video. Where is the crane operator sitting so he can see into the hold of the ship?
If you look 3/4 of the way up the crane pedestal you can see the cab for the operator. Check out some of the other videos it has its position in them. and thanks 🤙

No coffee breaks for the little grapple in the ship. Got to go like a Hell to keep up lol.
Yes they are busy on the ship and we hold back for them when asked. We mostly all multi task and well aware of how they feel to. Thanks 🤙
Good grief home many tons does one of those barges hold ?
Hello well some big ones 44,000 tonnes but normal would be about 38,000 tonnes
🖒
No idea what this says 😳
hi good vid are they export pulp or small saw logs
Hi they are all export logs not pulp.
Love your vids bro, just wounded how long to time is between lifts using the grapple system Compared to having people sling every lift manually? It Must get pretty hectic for the excavator operator in the hold , having to stack 30ish ton of logs away between every lift with a small digger with small bunching grapples lol.
Hi and thanks for the comment. The excavator oops are by far the hardest workers on the shift, the cranes can throw the lift in every 2 mins if needed. We work two holds per crane the grab lifts 30 tonnes, this method if way quicker than traditional slinging but the digger oops get punished. Much quicker and easier for us in the cranes and the diggers when we work on top on the lids where we can see instead of using a downward facing camera too.
Hope that helps 😜🤙
@@daibach999 thanks for the reply, yea I bet they get punished in hold, that’s not a lot of time to stack the logs away ( depends on if they need to shift the whole lift of logs or not ), because obviously you can’t get the logs where they need to go every lift. I’ve been a machine operator in the forestry for a long time , both grapple & processor operator, & want a change so thinking of trying to get into marsden point as I’m from Whangarei.
@@evil2rs marsdens a good Port they don’t have the cranes up their so you should be fine 😜 as we work 2 holds at a time then in between each lift they have that time to stack. But again it’s not long. We have great oops under the cranes and they work us well. Boils down to good comms and teamwork. Hope to get some more vids out this coming month but not back till the 17th. Will be using the new camera a bit more to get some strange and interesting angles 😳😜👌
@@daibach999 Awesome man , thanks for that . Looking forward to your next lot of vids . Stay safe 👍

Hey thanks, and roughly 48-60 hours 2-2.5 days going at 4 gangs running around 2k jas per shift.
Its gone to japan or china
What is the destination of the wood?
China and India mainly but who ever buys it is where it goes. 🤙

All depends on how much is needed. A full uplift between 48 hours 72 hours maybe 🤙

@@daibach999 oh rodger yea well you enjoy your night off bro see once i get back to TGA..
if you use both carne for one trailer, the tractor does not change the flatbeds...
See if I can answer this properly as I can’t really understand the question 😳 the tractor units take a trailer to the crane and drop it off the head to get another. 3-4 per gang. Their is a wharf tractor moving the trailers about and bringing them from the tally park to the cranes. 1 crane works 2 holds on the ship. Hope that answers your question 😜🤙
@@daibach999 You take a tractor with two parcels of wood and you have two cranes...
One crane operates 2 trailers with 2 parcels each. One trailer's cargo goes into say hold 1 and the other into hold 2. The 2nd cranes gets 2 trailers with 2 parcels each. Of this lot 1 trailer's parcels into hold 3 and the other into hold 4. So each crane has 2 x trailers at any one time feeding 2 holds.
@@class8866 We run 8 trailers to one crane on rotation. So two trailers with 2 packets each are under the hook at any one time. Serving 2 holds. (2 Gangs). Hope that makes sense and sorry for the late reply. Stay safe
@@vandrivers8714 Sounds like I might know you? 😂🤙
Would it be hard for a heavy equipment operator to get a job here?
Would all depend on whether you are an Nz or Aus citizen or not. But to be up in the cranes you have to start on the ground and learn the job first

Due to the Wings and the Under and Away on the ships the cranes are limited to the square only which is why you see the excavators positioning the logs and making optimail use of the space available. Hope that helps you understand 🤙
