  • I just bought another recumbent trike. I give an overview of the HP Scorpion FS 26 trike as well as some of the modifications I will be making to it. This is the first in a series that will chronicle the changes I am making to the components on this trike.

    Super nice trike Ken. The front post is a great place to put a camera mount or water bottle.

    Ken, I truly enjoyed your video and I look forward to seeing my former trike, as I said to to you earlier, rebuilt to that Shelby GT 500. Well done!

    Thanks again, Ken. I'm impressed by your knowledge of all the components. I hope this beautiful machine works well for you. I'm surprised you switched from your ICE. I'm a newbie triker (HP Gekko 26), and I thought ICE trikes were in a league of their own, but if you have made the switch back to HP, well, I learn something every day!

      gmaneis my first trike over twelve years ago was an HPV Gekko FX. I loved it. The ICE trikes that we’ve owned have all been very nice but the Scorpion FS 26 is very smooth. I rode one while we were in Florida and then had to have one. Thanks for watching!

      @@BentRiderNation That's interesting. I am impressed by the Scorpion's suspension, and really wish I could have afforded one!

      @@henrikpettersson2886 Not necessarily. The best trike is the one that fits your body right. Ya' gotta be comfy in the saddle and while ridin' along, so ya' gotta test ride as many as you can before deciding.

    Hi Ken, Have you added the Rolhoff & Schlump High Speed Hubs yet? How well do they work together? With the Scorpion stripped down for speed, what are the sprint speed and the long distance high speed? How many teeth are on the cog on the crank and how many teeth on the rear hub? What do you like and don't like about the combination? Do you have too many low end and/or high end gears? I would love a full review of the combination.

    This is almost identical to the build I'm getting. I was going to go for the schlumpf 2.5 × at first, then dropped it to their 1.65 ×, and now,( to save some money) I'm going with a single chainring teeth count to be determined because there's some duplication in the gearing and I'm looking for simplicity. I know I'll eventually get a middrive assist, just waiting for even better innovation. Until then, I think I'll be satisfied with 14 true gears, what do you think about that? Also I like the idea of drum brakes over the rotors.

    Great review. Thanks! How do the ice and the hp compare? Both beautiful machines. It would be great to hear your thoughts.

      Squid ley I’m going to do a comparison video between the ICE Sprint X FS 26 that my wife rides and the Scorpion. Both are great trikes.

    Hey Ken. Do you know if that front chain ring is made by other companies or just that one ? I really like that feature.

      Pete Baker The one that’s on it is a single 39 tooth and it will fit any trike. You just need to get the correct size bottom bracket for your trike. Hostel Shoppe has some. Jessie Bostic can help you.

    So what were you riding???

  • @jonabub

    Are you sure you want longer arms on your crankset? I would even go smaller and i am about a tad taller than you ... and my knees thank me for it ...

    • @BentRiderNation
      @BentRiderNation  4 роки тому +2

      jonabub I’m tall and have been riding trikes for many years. I prefer 170mm cranks. I actually rode this one a few times before I switched the cranks out and didn’t like the 155mm as well. What I didn’t mention in the video is I had an knee injury the day before I filmed this which I found out a couple of days later caused a severe lateral meniscus tear. I had surgery a month later but have been back on the trike for a couple of months now. I am producing a new video with all of the changes that I made to the trike. Thanks for watching!
