However, the story goes that Chopin did not originally title it “Aeolian Harp.” The piece's other name is “Shepherd Boy” which originates from this anecdote: When a student asked him about this piece, Chopin advised them to picture a shepherd boy taking refuge in a grotto to avoid a storm, and playing the melody on his flute. It's a fitting piece for the pianist's painful situation and the ongoing plight of many Ukrainians today. I am heartbroken but marvel at her poetic choice to play this piece.

Yes, Chopin very much wanted to return to Poland but it was too dangerous. He traveled to Marianske Lazne in Czechia, that's the closest he could come.
I can't even imagine what kind of despair, sadness and anguish she must have felt playing inside of her wracked home and yet was able to play the piano flawlessly. My heart goes to her and all the Ukrainian people.

As someone who played piano for years, I’m honestly impressed with how well she just started to play that with no form of warm up. I can hear the connection to the instrument we all form when we’ve played it for ages and all the emotionsbeing poured out through her fingers. It’s truly heartbreaking

My 23-year-old son is also a pianist and composer. When he's home, he practices Chopin for hours (I just sent this to him). I know that music can't make Putin just disintegrate into a pile of foul dust, but I believe that it has more power than much of what we humans have at our disposal. This video is an example.

I would hope that the absolute beauty of the masterful piece Aeolian Harp (Chopin Etude Op 25 no 1) was what was driving her in that moment. With this skill, she knows the situations before her that shared a similar situation while playing this masterpiece. She has hope. Me, and you, and the rest of us are there for her. And she is not alone in this fight. Music is not about the career, it is about the life and expression within the music. This being said, I would imagine she feels joy in conquering the fear that is thrust upon her by expressing herself through beauty in song. As we all will one day.

As someone who played piano for years, I’m honestly impressed with how well she just started to play that with no form of warm up. I can hear the connection to the instrument we all form when we’ve played it for ages and all the emotionsbeing poured out through her fingers. It’s truly heartbreaking

This video started it all for me. When I heard that piece for the first time, I fell in love. I fell in love with the piano and CHOPIN. My life has changed forever since. I never knew that such beautiful music existed before this video. And also prayers to those affected by the war
I myself am a professional, classically trained musician. This fellow musician's world has been shattered by a senseless and needless war. Putin must be held to account -- and I have to find a way to help ...
My 23-year-old son is also a pianist and composer. When he's home, he practices Chopin for hours (I just sent this to him). I know that music can't make Putin just disintegrate into a pile of foul dust, but I believe that it has more power than much of what we humans have at our disposal. This video is an example.
I thought of visiting Ukraine when the war is finally over and treat my teeth there instead in the UK. Hope that will help the people a bit. For now we can pray this end soon and justice is established.

It is not a conflict. It is a war. russia invaded Ukraine and almost 80 % of all russians want it war to continue. They say it is good that our children are dying, woman and kids of both sex are being raped and civilians are dying in their own houses. It is not a conflict. russians want this war to continue.

@@liza_kdnv you have to be careful also that the Russians haven't altered anything, a poll of Russian citizens could be a selected amount or the whole thing has been tampered with. Then there's also the fact that many Russians don't know or the brainwashing has been working. oh and don't forget fear, the fear of being arrested for speaking against the Kremlin and Putin. Even the oldest Russians are getting arrested for protesting, Russia is a completely different world to what we in the west know and the majority just want to survive.

İ cant even imagine what was going through her mind when she was playing that piano. İts like your entire carrer, life, and everything you cared and everything that defined you just getting stripped away from your hands and you cant do anything about it. The only thing you can do is to play that final piece in your piano and by that, say goodbye to all of your previous life. The ukrainian people are so brave and resistant in the face of these tough times. İ wish them great strength, patience and every luck they can get in this time. Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦🇺🇦
I would hope that the absolute beauty of the masterful piece Aeolian Harp (Chopin Etude Op 25 no 1) was what was driving her in that moment. With this skill, she knows the situations before her that shared a similar situation while playing this masterpiece. She has hope. Me, and you, and the rest of us are there for her. And she is not alone in this fight. Music is not about the career, it is about the life and expression within the music. This being said, I would imagine she feels joy in conquering the fear that is thrust upon her by expressing herself through beauty in song. As we all will one day.

Wow, this is the BEST play I've ever listened of Chopin's Etude, "Aeolian Harp". Probably because of her passion for piano, especially for this last chance to play at her home. Hope she will be able to back home again, and play her piano in near future! 🇺🇦 #SlavaUkraini!
