You know, I REALLY like these videos--however, I for one would really appreciate if we got to see more of the toys themselves. Dan's a handsome guy and a good presenter, but the toys are the whole reason I'm here, and we more or less always get a single photograph from a single angle for a couple of seconds. Some actual video, or even just more photos, of the figures themselves would go really well as B-roll over Dan's monologue, and would really add a lot of value to these videos.

The new 2017 Star Wars black series Episode 4 Vader looks amazing and they've fixed the cloth goods and helmet, plus his lightsabers can clip onto his belt. Next you should do a top 10 for Princess Leia action figures in honour of Carrie Fisher ❤

I'm so pleased to see that you actually included the TVC VC93 ANH Vader since there isn't much TVC love coming from this channel these days. It's my definite Vader and I see no competitor to the throne being released anytime soon.
Though I do have a soft-spot for the Figuarts Vader in spite of his static cape.

Great list! The 3.75" Black series is my personal favorite, Hasbro really nailed the helmet sculpt and articulation. If only we could've gottena sculpt like that on its 6" counterpart.

Totally agree, I'm excited about that Mafex's Rogue One Vader he's gonna dethrone the #1... although, I'd loved to hear some honorable mentions, as Bandai's Vader Model Kit, it's a petty convincing figure as well. Great Review!

the mcquarrie figure is pretty cool, I snagged him, the stormtrooper, and fett back when they came out. always cool as my brother had an old art of star wars lithograph set that featured many of mcquarries original paintings.
Perfect timing as I've been googling "what's the best Darth Vader figure". To me there still isn't one, but your #2 comes close. Looking forward to the new Black series 6" Vader from ANH.

Mafex Rogue One Vader indeed looks very promising. It looks awesome, and if it has the same quality as Boba Fett(s) and no QC issues that most Mafex figures suffer from, it might be *THE* Definitive Vader in 1: 12 scale.

Where i work, its MIB in a cabinet in the dining room. No, im not saying where. Im SO taking it as a consolation prize when i depart from there after the hell i deal with on the daily. (I just gotta ask why people think if a restaurant is unconventional in its decor and ideals, why its both fine to eat/act like fukcng 7 yr olds, then tip like a 95 yr old?💀)

since you put the first vader samourai tamashii nations, what do you think about the death star armor darth vader samourai. personally I have the desth star armor and I really like it...like alot, but my friends thinks that his helmet is weird.
I'm not Dan, but I have both figures, and while the sculpt and color choices for the Death Star Armor Vader are overall improved, the Death Star crest on his helmet is a bit much and the Imperial crest on the general Samurai Vader figure is more aesthetically pleasing. If they had provided an Imperial crest to swap out for the Death Star one, it'd be an easy win. I also was irritated that the sheath for his standard sword is so tight, that if you put his standard sword in the sheath it scrapes the paint off the blade. I wish I would've known that before putting it in the sheath.
My personal favorite is the 2002 Bespin Duel Darth Vader. The figure was clearly based off of the New Hope Vader design though since his tunic is over his armor and the eye lenses are clearly more of a red brown color.
yeah I can't wait till Jakks figures get the size of people either, when they do get that big I'm going to use one of them as a decoy at work on Casual Friday of course because the figure will be a stormtrooper. Funkadelic out.....

The year was 2005, Revenge of the Sith had just hit theaters and because of my intense love for it my family all got me the SAME lightsaber attack Darth Vader. Somehow over the years I still have the very first of these figures and the duplicates dissapeared. Obviously I love it for personal reasons. In the past year I have acquired the Rebels (#10) Vader and though he looks nice to pose (stand) he's just no fun. My other Vader, the Force Unleashed Battle Damage Darth Vader is badass and pairs nicely with my first Vader.
My vader figure is the Revoltech but without that terrible cape. I swapped it with a hasbro cape and holy cow does it look damn good.

Even though it doesn't make this list, the 7" Die-cast Elite Series Disney Store Darth Vader is one of the most accurate figure representations of the character, proportion and design wise.

Look for sellers based in the US (assuming you're in the US). Check the spelling of "Star Wars" (sometimes it says "Srar Wals" or other variations).
Dan, you definitely should update this list and put the 40th anniversary Darth Vader and the mafex Rogue One Darth Vader on this list.
I personally picked up the Bandai Darth Vader model kit :) It's quite amazingly well made, the joints are nearly invisible for the most part, massively pose-able and only cost 20 euro O.o

You forgot in the top ten the 77" large scale Vader doll. It Was Awesome back then.
My favorite as of now is the S.H. Figuarts version.
Too short and the cape is terrible.
The height doesn't bother me, and the cape has a nice wavy look to it, almost like it's in the wind. Again, it's my personal favorite.

VC 93 is my most favorite Vader of all time ...and he has a kind of three tone paint on his eyes
He's definitely the one that is most in fashion right now after Rogue One brought back the red lenses.

The Figuarts Vader is beautiful with an awesome unmasked head sculpt. The size is terrible though, and I mean compared to other Figuarts Star Wars. He's like if Vader were 5'11. Would have hoped to see it on the list if it weren't for the size.
I'm praying that Rogue One Vader comes with an ignited lightsaber.
They didn't show one in promo pics but that might have been to avoid spoilers
Harrison1875 I know Hot Toys did that with their Vader. He had no ignited saber in promo pics, but he ended up coming with one. Hopefully Mafex is doing the same.

I think my first Darth Vader action figure would be in the very bottom of the list. My first Vader figure was the 90's Power of the Force II Buffed-up / constant Gym-going Darth Vader with the forever one leg forward pose. :D

I was hoping for 500th Star Wars figure ie Vader with the meditation chamber would have been on the list
I will say the head sculpt on that Emperor's Wrath figure though is spot on to me, but without customizing the head its a huge bummer overall. I had to paint mine as I got it for $10 on sale and already had all the paint. It was vastly cheaper then the original release of the figure and I don't have to look at the terrible translucent head.
Wouldn't mind if Hasbro redid it with the same head in black plastic, on the original figure's arms, as a Rogue One wave exclusive somewhere.
They have a Rogue One coming out. We'll see how good it looks when it hits the shelves.

the closest I have to a darth vader figure right now is the disney infinity vader and 3 inch black series Kylo Ren which I absolutely love, what I'm gonna do is get everyone on 3 inch and then my favorite characters on 6 inch and I'm gonna be starting with the Model Kit Darth Vader and I'm gonna give him cloth goods that I already have, and I'm not gonna regret it

Have to agree with that list! Love the original Ralph Mc. Designs. But I think we're forgetting an even more expensive Darth Vader from foreign lands...play arts Kai isn't the only one packing a good Vader=HOT TOYS A NEW HOPE VADER!!!! The Force is strong with Hot Toys indeed.
Yeah we generally leave Hot Toys out when we do best of lists because they would always be #1 and that sort of take the drama away.

Toy Galaxy on a more serious note, I'd like to thank you. When Glenn Webb passed, I didn't know what I was going to do. He was my go to guy for action figure reviews and when it finally landed that he was no longer going to be part of my life, I felt god awful. He never got to see the first ever marvel legends with roller blades in person... I stumbled across your channel and while I'm sure you'll understand when I say it doesn't quite fill the hole that was left, it does in fact make it manageable.

Im sure someone beat me to the bitching, but I've always really liked my "Vader in his meditation chamber" Hasbro figure. He sits on his throne, pondering the mysteries of the dark side in my bathroom, facing me down on mine, watching these damned youtube vids every morning! (Its his punishment for killing younglings and that cringe-y "Noooooo!" scene in ROTS.)

The 13 inch electronic Vader from 1998 isn't bad. It has several movie phrases plus lightsaber sounds. It also has a 2 piece helmet. Articulation wise it isn't the best and it does look somewhat dated by today's standards.
