- Podcast Overview: Danny & Will discuss the importance of residencies, the success of 'Music Is The Answer' & and DJing in the digital age.
Who Is Danny Tenaglia: The momentum started building in early ’70s New York, when a barely 10-year-old Danny first got the feel of vinyl in his hands. Enthralled by the music of artists like The Trammps, Marvin Gaye, African Hugh Masekela, and Giorgio Moroder, he started to collect records. In 1979 he discovered legendary nightclub Paradise Garage, where DJ Larry Levan’s rich, genre-less blend of music seemed to mirror his own “no boundaries” policy. Inspired, Tenaglia would soon embark on a successful career as a DJ and producer. His discography includes remixes for artists such as Depeche Mode, Madonna,Green Velvet, Yoko Ono, Blondie, The Orb, Faithless, Janet Jackson and many more.

Huge props to Will for Getting Danny T. on. Brings a tear to my 44 year old eyes watching you two be so appreciative of each other. People like Danny and so many others are passing the torch to the younger generation and i cant think of a better person than yourself Will. Keep up the good work.
thank you
👍
Very happy a friend pointed me towards this pod, and now going to go back through the catalog. Thank you so much for these
Amazing podcast Will - not only this specific one, but all you have dedicated to produce and share with the world!
Thank you for getting all these legends on the podcast! You're doing a service to future generations.
big love
Saw Danny in Phoenix last night. Awesome! That guy can mix….good god.
Awesome conversation! I think I comment the same thing on all of these because they are great. First time I really became aware of Tenaglia was skipping out on seeing him in Toronto and then waking up the next day and learning he was still playing and played another 8 some hours. Regrets.
Great chat with a legend! Loved the insight and hearing his perspective on DJ'ing. The sync part was funny, given how many people are snobs about it.
keeep it comingggg
Very valuable, thank you. ❤
Best podcast out there
Awesome guest
Amazing interview! If you do do Part II, would love to hear you talk about the DT Salva Mea mixes, just hearing you mentioning being a Faithless fan :)
Can't wait to listen to this podcast. NYC was my home 1998-2008, and what a time for the NYC clubs and my favorite legendary DJ, DT!
Appreciate you
legend
Massive knowledge
yep
goated podcast
Such a great episode and insight to the legend that Danny is, all he has done for the music scene throughout his career - music really is the answer ❤
So good to hear how humble Danny is about what he has done! Respect !
🙋♂️There are still a few old school ‘resident’ djs grinding away doing 6 hour sets night after night, working rooms and serving communities, some of us were inspired by danny swinging big flash lights around back in the 90s! 🙏
producer/djs (headliner brands) do a different job, both jobs definitely deserve props but possibly different names?
This podcast is excellent 👌
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Such a good interview with a legendary Dj. You guys touch on so many good topics. I’ve been around the scene for 25 years so it’s really cool to hear you guys talk about the earlier days. Also love how you talked about vinyl records and the visual memory of the sleeves and labels. Really interesting to hear you two talk about the differences between the scene now versus back when it was more club based.
thank you
Saw Danny at Output (RIP) in Brooklyn for Halloween 2014 and it was the best. 8 hour set. Miss that club! Epic night. Great interview man.
I'll have to watch this interview I hope he's working on new music because we need it in 2024 we need the 5 minutes we need the 7 minutes none of this three crap anymore. Life Danny
I've said the same about sync for years. Like an automatic car over gears, it allows you to look up and get more creative (yes I can mix on vinyl by the way). Yes you need to know how to adjust for sync issues, and of course you need to know your tunes inside out - but sync is not the enemy of real DJs (that would be TikTok and Instagram 🤣).
Shocked to hear he never did/got involved with the mixing and engineering of production. He literally said Harry Romero is writing his records for a Nervous Records deadline… Not the first time I’ve heard Harry writing for big name acts.
One of the very best!❤
agreeed

I apologize, I know this comment won’t be liked but this is my opinion…no disrespect. You have the biggest DJ House Legend, you can ask him anything, and the interviewer is so stale, boring, pauses a lot and asks the same questions he’s answered a thousand times before. You’re asking Tenaglia very vague, open questions about his history, upbringing etc. NO! Get him energized with specific, modernized content…”how did you compare your GU Athens compilation to your latest Brooklyn? “Tell me about your new 10 STAX speaker ensemble”, “What was it like meeting Michael Jackson, mixing for Madonna, getting a Grammy”, etc. This interview was so boring, monotone, boring…Danny was already tired, he needed someone to boost the energy of the interview.
Legend - you should get mikey lion on here!
Had him on
