    MUCHAS GRACIAS!
Today we’re learning how to describe people. How to describe a person in Spanish. But first a short explanation about SER and ESTAR, these two Spanish verbs… When one asks in Spanish: “¿Cómo estás (tú)?” with the verb ESTAR That means “How are you?” So what does it mean in Spanish when one asks: “¿Cómo eres (tú)?” In this case with the verb SER? It means “how are you?” in the sense of “what are your features, your qualities…?” It can be also like “how do you look?” That means that very often we need the verb SER in Spanish in order to describe people or things. We also use the verb TENER (to have) a lot. Here is a summary of the Spanish phrases you will learn in this video:: ¿Cómo es Tito? (How is Tito? / How does Tito look?) Tito es un hombre alto. (Tito is a tall man.) Tiene la piel un poco oscura. (His skin is a bit dark.) Tiene el pelo negro y corto. (He has black and short hair.)
Tiene ojos marrones oscuros. (He has dark brown eyes.) Lleva puesta una camiseta blanca y unos jeans. (He’s wearing a white t-shirt and some jeans.) Se ve fuerte. (He looks strong.) Ni tan fuerte. (Not that strong.) Teresa es una mujer (de estatura) baja. (Teresa is a short woman.) Teresa es delgada. (Teresa is thin.) Tiene la piel clara y el pelo rubio. (She has light skin and blond hair.) Es rubia y tiene pelo largo. (She is blond and has long hair.) Tiene los ojos azules. (She has blue eyes.) Está usando una chaqueta roja y pantalones negros. (She’s wearing a red jacket and black pants.) Carlos no es muy alto. (Carlos is not too tall.) Carlos tiene el pelo rojo. (Carlos has red hair.) Es pelirrojo. (He’s a redhead.) Tiene barba negra. (He has a black beard.) Tiene la piel clara. (He has light skin.) Carlos usa lentes / gafas. (Carlos wears glasses.) Carlos es aburrido. (Carlos is boring.) Julia es alta y delgada. (Julia is tall and thin.) Tiene piel morena. (She has brown skin.) Es morena. (She is dark-skinned.) Tiene el pelo castaño y largo. (She has brown and long hair.) Tiene los ojos marrones. (She has brown eyes.) Lleva puesta una falda corta. (She’s wearing a short skirt.)
Demasiado corta. (Too short.) Mario es de mediana estatura. (Mario is of medium height.) Mario tiene la piel clara. (Mario has light skin.) Tiene un bigote. (He has a mustache.) Usa un traje formal gris. (He’s wearing a formal suit.) Mario es calvo. (Mario is bald.) Mario es gordo. (Mario is fat.) (Something one should never say to other people) A better option would be: “Mario está subido de peso.” (Mario is overweight.) Or “Mario es llenito.” (Mario is a bit full.)
