Haha! To be honest, I didn't even know we bought Japanese beer until I got home and looked closer at the label. It was my brother's idea, so I just took his word for it. I *do* like Japanese beer--I have had a couple of different brands before and they have all been tasty. :)

Yep, this one is pretty close to the arcade original with the largest differences mostly being towards the end of the game (Skorne's levels as you mentioned, as well as the battlefield stages). Granted there are some other differences throughout the rest of the game, but they aren't quite as obvious sometimes.
    Thanks for watching! :)

That could be fun. If you have any ideas, let me know.

I don't know why but I've always had an affinity for these crazy arcade style games where you go through colorful worlds and beat up/shoot a bunch of enemies. No matter how advanced games get today, a part of me will always prefer these 90s style arcade games, even down to the colorful, pixely graphics

+Bobby Gaines I feel very much the same way. There's nothing quite like some of these arcade games from the '90s.

I'm like that in regard to 1980's platform games. As good as some of the new games are I still love and will always love the likes of the original Wonder Boy, Rygar, Rastan & Psychic 5 etc.

That screenshot at the beginning Austin showing the cabinets was really cool. Where I got my virtua fighter cab the guy had the one with the big screen. I definitely prefer the CRT more regularly looking cabinet. I love the artwork. I think that's a cab you should get one day. You definitely love this game. 👍

Thanks, Guns. I would absolutely love to own a Legends cabinet. Just not right now. I’ll never get that thing up my stairs!

@@GameplayandTalk oh dude, I completely agree. I'm worried having 2 cabs on the second floor is a collapse issue. Legends cab if I remember is very tall. I think it's over 7ft counting the marquee. I could be wrong.

This game was my whole childhood. My dad and I trekked through all the realms, a wizard and a jester, slapping everything's shit. I still have my Dreamcast to this day, and the game that has survived with it was none other than Gauntlet Legends.

It's close, but it has some modifications that are different from the arcade game.
The N64 game, while not looking or feeling as true as the arcade game, is still a lot of fun. I played it into the ground when I had it. It actually features some of the Dark Legacy hubs, and it also lets you buy special items and store them for later use, which the home ports of Dark Legacy allowed you to do as well (the Dreamcast GL does not, keeping true to the original GL arcade game).

God..... almost completely forgot about this game and I have it. Lost a lot of quarters in the arcade and was able to save some money when it finally came out on the dreamcast. Only real difference I came remember when playing was the Skorne levels. Going to have to bust out my dreamcast again after seeing this.

OK I watched the whole video and my question was answered. Thanks, very informative. So Legends and Legacy aren't exactly the same game. But does Legends have levels that Legacy doesn't? I have Legacy for the PS2 and have put off getting Legends for the DC because I figured all the Legends levels are in Legacy.

I don't think there are any levels in Legends that are not found in Dark Legacy. However, some of the stages might be structured a bit differently.

Didn't know that about the N64 game; I'm a huge Gauntlet fan so I'll keep all that in mind!

I played this on N64 when I was a teen.. I dont ever remember the graphics being that good.. They arent that good on PS1 either.

N64 and PS1 versions (PS1 in particular) do not look that good. Dreamcast and on however, they looked pretty close to the arcade games.

I enjoyed it until I turned off the game, came back to it a few hours later, only to find out that when you load a "saved" game, you lose all of your levels gained (which almost defeats the purpose of the whole thing). :(

I own this game and played it for the first time about a month ago. Not bad. I did get stuck on a level and gave up.

Nice dynamic duo review! What's your opinion on Gauntlet: Seven Sorrows released for Xbox and PS2?

  • @uzi9millimetuh

Thanks. I've done a bit more research. So it seems Dark Legacy is simply Legends plus extra characters and five new levels? Still want to get this for my DC though, just because I love the console. DL is one of my favorite games to play on the PS2, though I do agree with you that it gets a bit long after a while and you just want to reach the end.

Great video! This port is supposed to be near-perfect. The PS1 and N64 ports are not very good, AFIK.
