Great tips Kari. Thank you so much. Just a comment regarding flax seeds. They are wonderful and yes the nutrients are more easily absorbed by the body if they are ground. However they tend to go rancid very quickly once they are ground, even if stored in the refrigerator. I buy my flax seeds in the whole form and grind them just before use. 😉
I use a coffee grinder with the flaxseeds and grind together with pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds, fennel seeds. I grind it just before I’m about to eat my organic rolled oats and add 1 tsp each of organic Maca Powder, Ceylon Cinnamon, Fermented Raw Cacao Powder. I use Organic Activated Almond Milk. Keeps my estrogen level stable all day, gives me energy and mentally alert. Good stuff!

I ran out of flaxseed, and I have not used it in years. I’m so glad you mentioned this in your video. So glad I came across this video. I will be running out to get my berries which I use in my smoothies. I start it by soymilk again, organic soy milk. I love sesame seeds on my salads and I never knew that I was eating these estrogen, rich foods, so that would explain why I was not experiencing so much discomfort. Thank you so much I really appreciate it.
Since I’ve been drinking my morning water the past month before I eat. The random waves of hot flashes have almost stopped. I’m considered perimenopause, I still get my period every month but it’s shortened to only 2.5 days. I mix 6 Oz of cloves and ginger infused filtered rain water with a tbsp of chia seeds, half a fresh squeeze lemon, a pinch of Himalayan sea salt and I top the jar off with 2 Oz of organic low sugar kombucha. Healing my micro biome was crucial to restoring my hormone levels. I think leaning towards a plant based whole food diet, those of us suffering can reduce the suffering and minimize our symptoms.

I am going through perimenopause symptoms right now and I am 46 and I refuse to take HRT for my symptoms for the fear of developing breast cancer, strokes and blood clots. So I am trying to cut out refined sugar, sodium, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, eat more lentils, more kidney beans, more black beans, more chick peas. more tofu, more soy products, drink plenty of water, drink herbal teas, limit caffeine...I have been a vegetarian all my life and I don't eat any meat, I don't drink alcohol and I don't smoke... I don’t eat meat either or use hrt. It sounds like you’re doing everything you can to be healthy. It will make a difference. I pray it’s a big difference.❤️
I had my first varicose veins treated when I was a teenager, so I've always been careful of drugs that can cause clotting etc and for a time I didn't think HRT would be suited for me. However, after speaking to my GP she said that the HRT that comes in patches does not have the issues with clotting that the pill form has. I've been on the patches now for a few months and they've made a big difference. I still suffer from some symptoms but not nearly as bad. Something to look into and research perhaps.
Red wine ? Interesting. I never drink but this makes me feel better when i do on special holiday❤ I don't drink soy products but I do drink coconut milk for years and I found it to be so beneficial for my digestion.

Just a reminder that if you buy whole flaxseed you can easily gring it a little at a time using the 'milling' blade on your Nutribullet. I do a small pot for the week, takes 2 mins.
Thanks for confirming the estrogen rich foods for menopausal women. I was craving and eating all these foods, thinking I was eating too much of it. Truth is my body needs it.👍👍👍🌹🌹🌹🙏🙏🙏
Kari, you're both entertaining and informative. I'm 66 and two years ago I had to stop my HRT because my uterine lining was getting too thick, which can lead to cancer. Two years later and I'm still dealing with occasional hot flashes and temperature dysregulation. As a naturally athletic woman, I've exercised most of my life and after I stopped the HRT, I started pulling muscles right and left. I have hip pain on both sides and my knees are breaking down. Increasing my power walking speed resulted in abdominal tendonitis, which is painful and takes months to heal. I'm definitely going to try flaxseed, although I expect it to be somewhat pricey as a regular part of one's diet.
Back in the early 2000s Trader Joe's had a wonderful product called Soy Chips. I credit those to helping me get through what I didn't know at the time was perimenopause! I soooo wish they'd bring them back!
Just eating a salad with nutritional yeast and flaxseed added to it. I also make smoothies with berries and sugarfree soy milk. Thank you for your recommendation.
Thanks for these; I just started taking 2K mg of vitamin C using magnesium ascorbate powder. I'm using it for histamine intolerance. To my surprise, taking that high dose also reduced my hot flashes. I praise God for this added benefit. It seems to help my depression, too.
Good to know! Do you soak your nuts before consumption? I’ve read about how soaking raw nuts helps with the breakdown and digestion for people who are repairing their gut micro biome. I have a bag of raw hazelnuts in my freezer just waiting to be enjoyed, you can soak those and almonds. I do stay away from almonds unless they are organic. Personal reasons (the bee killing from California almond farms)
Thank you for this video!! I’m at the cusp of perimenopause and already noticed the crazy mood swings, migraines etc. for the sake of my and my family’s sanity I will try all your suggestions on top of eating clean. Thank you!
I almost died from hot flashes since I had sleep deprivation for years. I was allergic to phytoestrofen and had a rather so bad, the dermatologist biopsies done of the lessons. But getting back to the insomnia. I finally broke my leg and the gynecologist said ok hormones. I take two pills: estrogen and progesterone. I take very very small doses. I still have flashes and some insomnia, but I'm much improved. All the food you mention, I usually eat, but my gyn/ob said he never saw anything like my symptoms.
Did you cut out sugar and other simple carbs? I started getting horrible hot flashes - I thought I was dying and whenever I tried to tell anyone in my family they looked uncomfortable and changed the subject - what is that?!!! Anyway, I cut out sugar, did intermittent fasting and lost about 10 lbs. and it pretty much stopped over a month or two. I'm careful about what I eat but not as strict and it never got bad again - if I'm stressed I'll feel a minor flash starting but I'll take a deep breath to calm down and it goes away.
Thanks for all this great info. I am 20 years post menopausal. I had no symptoms during, but now is the struggle! I already eat all these wonderful foods.
Yes there are some that continue to have symptoms into post menopause. I think most women will notice some symptoms disappearing while a couple continue to be persistent. It would be very rare to have all symptoms continue into post menopause because many of them are attached to estrogen dominance in perimenopause.
I’m not in menopause but I recently made the decision to go birth control free and let my body be natural. However, since removing my IUD I’ve had some low estrogen symptoms as my body is adjusting so I cannot wait to try these foods and see if it helps ❤️
I got the Mirena it's localised and so little actually goes into blood stream. Its progesterone not Estrogen.Maybe it's your body just adjusting to it.I have mine until 57 or until I'm in Menopause (53 and half).
Mine was removed because I was "menopausal" I have had bleeding issues since. I am 57 and post menopausal. Going to a specialist next week. I need my Mirena back. Also, it has progestogen, not progesterone.
Been watching your videos. Good stuff! I have a video idea. Maybe you could do a video on great gifts for women going through perimenopause and menopause. Thanks for all you do!!
Just remember, with the wine, any alcohol stops fat burn for 48 hours, so if you're trying to lower your weight aka menopause tummy, then avoid the wine.
I have a sensitive tummy so I will have a problem with soya .I will try peanuts moderately .I had a complete hysterectomy at 42 so do not get hot flushes but mood-swings
This is a great list. All of these foods will also lower your cholesterol. Quick question - how much ground flaxseed do you put in your smoothie? Thanks for a very informative video and channel!
When I have a smoothie I use a tablespoon of ground flaxseeds but you can use 2. Lately I’ve been doing chia pudding and fruit and using 2 tablespoons of chia seeds.
Oatmeal? Are you aware that most grains are heavily contaminated now, worldwide, by Round-up Weedkiller.. It has got into the soil in most places..after very heavily being over-used. One needs to do a lot of research to find grain which is truly pure/ safe... We have been thriving on keto. diet for many years now, so grain is a rarity for us. Hope you are able to find a safe source.
Try soy and flaxseeds for hot flashes. They work well when you consistently add them to your diet. I use soy daily and can’t remember when I last had a hot flash.
Dear Kari Anne, Thank you so much for your wonderful videos!❤️ How much of the flaxseed powder do you consume in a day? I just started it today for the first time for my perimenopause. (Tastes DELICIOUS! 😊I ate it with my bran cereal and soymilk) I ate about 2 tablespoons (that is what the serving size on back says;)
Thank you so much for your kind reply!😊💗, I’ve actually been eating chia seeds sprinkled on my breakfast for a couple years now :) I understand though, our bodies react differently to things💗
One more question Kari Anne, I have been seeing articles on the Internet that say you’re supposed to eat flaxseed cooked. I have the Bob’s red mill ground flaxseed meal. I cannot see information anywhere as to whether it is cooked or raw and I’m confused. Some articles even say that it’s unsafe to eat raw flaxseed, and that it’s poisonous somehow. Also, should I address you as Kari Anne, or just Kari?❤️😊
@@iamtenderhearted5192 I eat organic cold pressed ground flax seed and have never had any issues. Cadmium has been found in pretty much all flaxseeds so eating large amounts is likely not a good idea. A tablespoon a day should be fine.
Do Pumpkin seeds reduce estrogen? I ask because I read that Pumpkin seeds can cause hair growth but not sure if it’s for women. I don’t want to decrease my estrogen.
Pumpkin seeds are phytoestrogens so they balance estrogen based on the body’s needs. They either raise estrogen or take up receptors to decrease the body’s excess estrogen.
Love your videos! Not a huge smoothie drinker (the cold hurts my teeth) so how else can we use flaxseed? My hot flashes are INSANE and my dr finally increased my HRT (waited for a neg mammo) and it’s helped, but I still have them everyday and I’m so over it. I’m a teacher and I literally am soaked in my classroom just sitting there and my kids are like what’s happening. Desperate to end the hot flashes. The horrific depression seems to have lessened significantly which was scary as hell to go thru… but the hot flashes are obnoxious. Thinking maybe flaxseed might help. I love fruit but haven’t noticed any benefit as far as hot flashes bc I eat all kinds of fruit daily. Have to stay clear of nuts bc again, my teeth don’t like hard things… so maybe flaxseed? Help!
I notice in this video that your hairline was thinning...and mowadays its thick and healthy. Keri-Anne what would you attribute this to? I have this same problem. I am 46yrs
One more thing, the ladies in my family were very fertile, had many easy pregnancies and some, into their early 50s and once their periods stopped, died of heart attacks.
That is because every system in our body has estrogen receptors. It is so much more than hot flashes and mood swings. Please please educate yourselves....we are dying because of the 2002 WHI study. It was flawed and has since been completely walked back. Our lives depend on it!
The doctor can run some bloodwork for hormone levels but those tests are unreliable. Hormone levels change constantly so you can receive a normal test result and still be in perimenopause. You can have the tests done anyway just to see but don’t bet the bank on the results.
Watching this video, the thing that stands out most to me is how fantastic your skin is! Definitely an added motivation to try these very simple tips. Great video. Thanks so much.
I responded to another comment about dryness and itchiness, and a product recommended to me by my OBGYN, called RepaGyn - it’s a non HRT cream. See other comment for further details, from a woman with a similar question. Btw, it doesn’t affect all women in menopause, just the “lucky” 😢 few. I think it’s called vaginal atrophy, if I remember correctly.
@@lillugful it's estriol the most gentlest one and I have severe allergies and on Mirena only .I can't take Hrt ..do U have something that puts U at risk using the cream?
@@carmelcream7662 I’ve tried two different estrogen creams - the first one gave me constant yeast infections and the second lead to sudden bleeding. The OBGYN wouldn’t allow me to go on any other estrogen cream unless I had a biopsy. She tried to do one in office but couldn’t because of my “discomfort” and now says that I’ll have to be put under in hospital if I want to try estrogen cream again. And she couldn’t guarantee the bleeding wouldn’t happen again. Both of my sisters are on estriol and are fine. It didn’t work for me so I’m doing the best I can.

Thanks so much for these helpful ways to increase estrogen!
Thanks girl..love your spirit😊
Kari
Was just thinking there are many post menopausal women who continue to suffer
I have met them
Yes there are some that continue to have symptoms into post menopause. I think most women will notice some symptoms disappearing while a couple continue to be persistent. It would be very rare to have all symptoms continue into post menopause because many of them are attached to estrogen dominance in perimenopause.
Will try all of this. Thanks so much😊
Can do nuts or red wine but flaxseed oil rubbed into the skin works best then doesn’t bother the liver
I’m not in menopause but I recently made the decision to go birth control free and let my body be natural. However, since removing my IUD I’ve had some low estrogen symptoms as my body is adjusting so I cannot wait to try these foods and see if it helps ❤️
There are no hormones in an i.u.d.
I got the Mirena it's localised and so little actually goes into blood stream. Its progesterone not Estrogen.Maybe it's your body just adjusting to it.I have mine until 57 or until I'm in Menopause (53 and half).
OMG same since I got the iud my estrogen level dropped even after it removed it and I'm so frustrated
You’re amazing!!! Thank you!!!
🥰❤️
Thanks you, I am going to try this.
You’re a life saver
Thank you so very much. Luckily I like most of these foods. I cannot thank you enough!! 😃
Love your videos! God bless from South Wales, UK 💕
God bless you too all the way from Canada!
Just remember, with the wine, any alcohol stops fat burn for 48 hours, so if you're trying to lower your weight aka menopause tummy, then avoid the wine.
Thank you for your info.❤
You so cheer me up ❤
Thanks for this valuable info! I do eat most of these things but will slightly uptick the amounts now.
thank you! great content! bless you!
Bless you too!
Thank you,really appreciate your vids.
You’re welcome! Happy to hear that you enjoy them.😊
Thanks for reminding me about tahini!!!
I have an entire container on the shelf! Need to add some to something I eat in the mornings!
Thank you!
Quoting St. Paul...Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses - 1 Timothy 5:23.
Oh wine is giving you hot flashes
What about red grape 🍇 juice instead of red wine?
@@simonezuri8303imo, more like it. In those days wine was produced differently and without sulphates like industrial produced ones.
Will try a glass of red wine. 🍷 😊
Alcohol is bad for menopause
I have a sensitive tummy so I will have a problem with soya .I will try peanuts moderately .I had a complete hysterectomy at 42 so do not get hot flushes but mood-swings

This is a great list. All of these foods will also lower your cholesterol. Quick question - how much ground flaxseed do you put in your smoothie? Thanks for a very informative video and channel!
When I have a smoothie I use a tablespoon of ground flaxseeds but you can use 2. Lately I’ve been doing chia pudding and fruit and using 2 tablespoons of chia seeds.
@@KariAnneWright Thank you so much for getting back to me. I will follow your lead. Thanks again for your wonderful videos!
I put 1 tbsp in my morning oatmeal. If you do more than that, just expect it to really help you go #2. 1 tbsp is plenty for me daily.
Oatmeal?
Are you aware that most grains are heavily contaminated now, worldwide, by
Round-up Weedkiller..
It has got into the soil in most places..after very heavily being over-used.
One needs to do a lot of research to find grain which is truly pure/ safe...
We have been thriving on keto. diet for many years now, so grain is a rarity for us.
Hope you are able to find a safe source.
I will buy flaxseed for my oatmeal
Yum!🤤😋
I’ve been taking like 4 different probiotics the past few days and haven’t had a hot flash for a week.
Could you please tell what is the 4 different probiotics ? What’s the brands? Thank you
Please name them
Thank you so much. Will the hot flashes and tiredness decrease? 😢
Try soy and flaxseeds for hot flashes. They work well when you consistently add them to your diet. I use soy daily and can’t remember when I last had a hot flash.
@@KariAnneWrightthank you so much ❤
Be careful with soy if you have thyroid issues. I will try this.
Why?
@@freedom915 soy is not good for some people with thyroid problems.
Dear Kari Anne,
Thank you so much for your wonderful videos!❤️
How much of the flaxseed powder do you consume in a day? I just started it today for the first time for my perimenopause. (Tastes DELICIOUS! 😊I ate it with my bran cereal and soymilk)
I ate about 2 tablespoons (that is what the serving size on back says;)
I use a tablespoon of flaxseed in my smoothie. I tried using chia seeds as well but it wasn’t for me.
Thank you so much for your kind reply!😊💗,
I’ve actually been eating chia seeds sprinkled on my breakfast for a couple years now :)
I understand though, our bodies react differently to things💗
One more question Kari Anne,
I have been seeing articles on the Internet that say you’re supposed to eat flaxseed cooked.
Thanks for sharing ❤
Is there a help line where we can reach out too.. OMG!! What a difficult thing to deal with.
I’m not sure what you mean by help line. Where you can reach me?
Also lentils too!
Thank you! 🤠💕🌺
Thanks for sharing 👍
I love fruit protein shakes but the protein powder gases me up like crazy! I’ve tried whey and plant based.
🥺
Thank you thank you new subscriber here. You saved my life
❤️
Red wine have alcohol and sugar, for me it's a No, No , cause they trigger my hot flashes 😢 . Soja makes me cramps and diarrhoea 😢 . Thank you.🙏
😔
Thank you ❤
Hi Kari Anne, how much ground flaxseed do you put in your smoothie?
One tablespoon.
@@KariAnneWright Thank you so much! Your videos have been so helpful and comforting to me during a confusing time.
Thank you
Love your videos! Help!
Apparently eating half a cup of organic soy beans per day helps tremendously. Look up Dr. Barnard and hot flashes.
You can sprinkle flaxseeds on your breakfast cereal, add to baking eg cakes, biscuits
There are flaxseed recipes for bread and rolls etc. on UA-cam.
@@KariAnneWrightcant we use flax oil?
@@marlajacques6947 You don’t benefit from the fiber that way and it doesn’t have the phytoestrogens.
I'm 53 and a half and the hair is just falling out.I think seeing yourself in the mirror is a shock.
Thanks
Well dang I don't do plants so I'll keep looking.
I notice in this video that your hairline was thinning...and mowadays its thick and healthy. Keri-Anne what would you attribute this to? I have this same problem. I am 46yrs
I wear a wig now unfortunately. My hair has not improved but if I figure it out I will share.
THANK YOU❤
Hello. Hi do I know how much of things like flaxseeds to use? I'm not a tofu person at all. Not sure about soy milk either.
One or two tablespoons of flax is plenty.
One more thing, the ladies in my family were very fertile, had many easy pregnancies and some, into their early 50s and once their periods stopped, died of heart attacks.
😳😔
That is because every system in our body has estrogen receptors. It is so much more than hot flashes and mood swings. Please please educate yourselves....we are dying because of the 2002 WHI study. It was flawed and has since been completely walked back. Our lives depend on it!
Great info. Thank you.
How do you check estrogen levels?
The doctor can run some bloodwork for hormone levels but those tests are unreliable. Hormone levels change constantly so you can receive a normal test result and still be in perimenopause. You can have the tests done anyway just to see but don’t bet the bank on the results.
My doctor does both bloodwork and saliva testing.
Watching this video, the thing that stands out most to me is how fantastic your skin is! Definitely an added motivation to try these very simple tips. Great video. Thanks so much.
Thank you! Liquid collagen and collagen skin care help too.😁
Why doesnt any one mention the dryness associated with menopause ???
I responded to another comment about dryness and itchiness, and a product recommended to me by my OBGYN, called RepaGyn - it’s a non HRT cream. See other comment for further details, from a woman with a similar question. Btw, it doesn’t affect all women in menopause, just the “lucky” 😢 few. I think it’s called vaginal atrophy, if I remember correctly.
I use Ovestin cream it's great
@@carmelcream7662 Well, aren’t you lucky to be able to use estrogen cream. Not all of us are.
Would non alchoholic red wine work?
I couldn’t find anything on whether non alcoholic red wine has estrogenic effects.
What type of flaxseed should we buy? Ground, but not ''whole''.
Organic cold milled ground flaxseed.
Maam, I am 41 yts old, Histerectomy and bso done before 1 month, can I balance my hormone levels by intake of foods mentioned in this video 😞
If your estrogen is low phytoestrogens will help. I have other videos on how to balance hormones naturally and how to manage menopause without hrt.
@@KariAnneWright thank u maam..
My name's Kari too.
You must be fabulous with such a fantastic name!😁
Hi Kari, How much flaxseed a day?
I use one tablespoon but you can use 2.
Hi kari what about chia seeds..does it work same as flaxseed?
Wil organic flax seed oil work the same as flax seeds? I take flax seed oil everyday as a vegan omega supplement
Flax seed oil does not contain phytoestrogens.
@@KariAnneWright good to know, thank you.
Any other food choices? Sunflower seeds maybe? I either can’t eat those mentioned items for medical reasons or I just don’t like them. 😅
Absolutely! If you do a Google search you should get lists of foods.
