I grew up in an Australian town where the local mechanic/servo owner had 2 of these. It was a revelation the first time I heard one fire up and the sound has stayed with me since 1968. You get in there, my son, and enjoy it!
Thanks a lot. Yes, Dave's drone shots really made a big difference for this video. Dave has kindly done a lot more great shots on my other movies since and they really add to the quality. Best wishes, Mike
First kick laddie! (well almost...) Mike, I love watching your videos and the lovely roar of your Vinnie coming to life after all those years brought a big grin to my face. Keep up the good work Sir!
That engine sounds lovely. Quiet, balanced, and I don't think your fine tuning sounds off by much, if any. That's what you get when you do't job right. It's the only way - well done.
These things are so mechanically complicated. No wonder the Japanese kicked there British bikes right out of business. My Yamaha now has 137,000 kilometers on it. I am 66 years old and look after it well. In all those kilometers it has never broken down on me. I enjoyed watching the Vincent build.
Well done Mike ! This is the one we have been waiting for. You look like a very happy bunny , you should patch in a shot of what it looked like when you got it, a fantastic transformation. and a really enjoyable, and inspiring series. Many Thanks.
Thanks to you too Chris for all your fantastic feedback and great advice. I have really appreciated your comments. More vids still to come Chris, but thank you! Best wishes, Mike
Thanks so much! Yes, I promise to do better next time ;) I can't believe it started so quickly honestly. My friends were saying that had I given it a little more gas/petrol, it could have started first kick!!
Congratulations Mike on starting your Rapide. It’s been a long wait but well worth it. It pays testament to all the work you have done to it. I bet it feels a lot more powerful than the Comet - you’ll struggle to go back to it!
Outstanding Mike, well done on getting this beautiful example back up & almost 'road ready', I'm sure it will reward you with many hours of enjoyment. atvb t ..
Terry, thank you so much for all your support and encouragement with this and my other projects. I am really grateful for your friendship. Still more to come!! Best wishes, Mike

Hi Mike Bravo, - what a result! I have followed your video series with great interest and am impressed with your care and enthusiasm. It would be interesting to see the project costs (ex. Hour consumption)
K/start return spring looked weak or is that normal for Vinnies? Nice bike. V11 same colour as my old one (regrettable sale - more so than the Centauro...).
A wonderful machine, beautiful place, a fine day. Well done, I`m deeply envious, it sounds sweet; and I expect it`s probably very comfortable, but that seat still looks like a plank; they always did! The bike on the driveway, just outside, (what is it?) has a nice looking seat....
Hi Paul, that's my 2014 Triumph Thruxton "push button" bike. It's totally standard.. well, except for the British Customs "Predator" silencers, which bark very nicely ;) Cheers, Mike
Hi Vince, Yes, I don't think I have seen another one here in Oregon. I'm not sure what model Chris' MG Magnette is but here are a few extra shots of it in the opening of this video. Best wishes, Mike ua-cam.com/video/YnR-9m-RMI0/v-deo.html
Looks great. Why is the rear wheel turning while you have the bike on centre stand if a gear is not engaged? I have seen this happen on many old bikes and it has always baffled me.
Hi, it's a strange phenomenon isn't it. The wheel spinning is caused by colder oil in the gearbox. The wheel usually stops spinning once the oil is a little warmer. A couple of my bikes do that. Cheers, Mike
You teased us with that question mark in the title, but it was a walk in the park. Bloody fantastic. A credit to your meticulous work and encyclopedic knowledge. Can't wait to see it out on the road. What are your plans?
hehe, I thought you might like that little teaser ;) Glad you enjoyed this project and there should be plenty more videos to come as it get's back on the road. Thank you so much for all your great comments and support over the year! Best wishes, Mike
i'm a bit late to the party but that sounds sweet. That fork neck nut needing a tweak? , I guess is sorted by now but did you check that the noise wasn't coming from the brake/fork torque stops?. In the meantime cover me in chocolate and throw me to the lesbians while I listen to that motor again.
Hi Hulot. Thanks for your note, yes that was about a year ago. It’s been a fantastic journey and the bike has been tremendous. Here is a link to a playlist containing all the subsequent videos in this series: ua-cam.com/play/PLgDzKiI-i6nY67gu5wiq3nzvrrx9zfcrB.html best wishes, Mike
The Vincent 1000. Probably the most legendary name in motorcycling history. Looks beautiful.
Many thanks, it has been a brilliant bike. It’s at 4000 miles now since that moment and really enjoying it.
If that isn't the soul of motorcycling I don't know what is!
Many thanks! That really was a very special day. I’ve never forgotten it. Best wishes
Looks and sounds like a brand new bike!
Love seeing all these old guys loving great motorcycles. Funny seeing those For Sale signs in the neighborhood.
Thanks Jim 👍

TWO Vincents in one driveway!
First kick laddie! (well almost...) Mike, I love watching your videos and the lovely roar of your Vinnie coming to life after all those years brought a big grin to my face. Keep up the good work Sir!
Hehe, it was so close to one kick! I should have tried a little harder 😉 I'm glad you like videos Nigel and best wishes for 2021! Cheers, Mike
You must be so proud Mike. I know I sure would be, also i find it pretty cool that your buddies were there to hear it for the first time.
I've watched this video several times over the last year or so, and I still hold my breath waiting for her to fire up. meticulous work well rewarded.
That engine sounds lovely. Quiet, balanced, and I don't think your fine tuning sounds off by much, if any. That's what you get when you do't job right. It's the only way - well done.
Thanks a lot Ralph, best wishes. Mike
Congrats Mike, she looks to be a fine runner along with being a beauty.

It took two kicks! Must try harder on your next rebuild:-} What a beast. Great video work too. Congratulations.
Thanks so much! Yes, I promise to do better next time ;) I can't believe it started so quickly honestly. My friends were saying that had I given it a little more gas/petrol, it could have started first kick!!
A fantastic job from start to completion, well done and enjoy.
Thanks very much Brian. Best wishes, Mike
The person who gave a thumbs down must have wanted you to wear a helmet.
Congratulations Mike on starting your Rapide. It’s been a long wait but well worth it. It pays testament to all the work you have done to it. I bet it feels a lot more powerful than the Comet - you’ll struggle to go back to it!
Hehe, thank you Josh. Yes, it really does feel like a much more powerful bike! Thanks for your kind words. Much appreciated, Mike
Nice one Mike. I feel so happy for you. I’m still working my way through your clips, so that I can get my Rapide going. Thanks again Paul

Hi Mike
Bravo, - what a result!
I have followed your video series with great interest and am impressed with your care and enthusiasm.
It would be interesting to see the project costs (ex. Hour consumption)
Thanks a lot Bruno. That's a great question. I might try to do a little video that summarizes what I spent on the project. Cheers, Mike
fantastic it looks good just some cosmetics to put in and you are done
Thanks very munch Bob. Yes, hopefully not much to do now and then it will be on the road again for a decent ride. Cheers, Mike

Should start producing them gorgeous
Perfekt!!
Thanks for all your comments over the past year. Hope all is well with your bike. Cheers, Mike
Is that an MGZB I see lurking down the road at about 5:33. That must be rare.

Thanks for the explanation and all the best with the projects and the rides!
is that the original colour, here in the UK the ones I've seen (not many) were red. . .
Hi, yes they were mostly black. The "Chinese" red models are very rare compared to the black models. Cheers, Mike
You teased us with that question mark in the title, but it was a walk in the park. Bloody fantastic. A credit to your meticulous work and encyclopedic knowledge. Can't wait to see it out on the road. What are your plans?

Wooo Hooooo!!! :)
Ha! Yes, it finally happened!! Thanks for all your support. Cheers, Mike
Congratulations - a wonderful thing to see! BTW - is that a Mark 2 Jag across the street from you? Makes me want to buy a house nearby.
Hehe, thank you Duncan. That is a lovely MG Magnette that belongs to my friend Chris. It's a really nice example! Cheers, Mike
