Mr.Ken, I'm pretty sure it's the pressure wave generated by the bulbous bow that he's riding.(If you look below the dolphin, you can just make out the bulb) Nordhavn has bulbous bows on their smaller 50', 57',62's. Most of their smaller boats(down to their 40'ers have normal bows. My brother added a bulbous bow to his 82'x20' steel drag boat a couple of years ago. It help a bit with better fuel economy and speed through the water. The boat tends to go through the waves instead of over them. I was hoping Nordhavn would have put one on their 55'/60'er but that looks like it's not to be. I'm pretty sure you could special order a bulbous bow on the 60' but when you're only burning 3.2 to 3.5 GPH @ 7kts, the bulb probably wouldn't be worth the added cost...............Unless you make the mistake of letting Rick MacClure take the helm, he's a WOT kinda guy!(;>)............I think it's why I've always liked Aussies!(:>)

Hi Matt yes I often look back on the photos of our trip and smile, it was a good time and a first for all of us in a lot of ways. Richard did get a very nice boat and he's learning the ropes very quickly I feel my help will not be required very shortly.

I think the N57 is a great boat and I would have one tomorrow and be very happy, they seem to be more efficient than the N60, we travelled at 8 - 8.5 knots at around 4.5 gal hr and I don't remember having that speed continually for that fuel burn. I personally still love the N60, lots of volume without being to big.

I've been looking at yachts for the last 2 years trying to decide which to buy and am more confused than ever. hence the delay :) I've narrowed it down to either a Nordhavn (68 or bigger) or a FPB (www.setsail.com/fpb-97-a-wicked-intro/) due to its speed and consumption although the FPB doesn't have the volume or space the Nordhavn's have. Im looking for something my soon to be wife and I can run ourselves but want to have guests at times. Probably 2 or 4 adults with maybe 2 kids. (Thinking of mother-in-law plus 2 15 year old cousins that want to join us for the longer trips) Exploring the remote islands, Madagascar a must and at least one transatlantic trip. What would you suggest in the Nordhavn range? Does your yacht fit this type of use?

I like the FPB but bang for buck the Nordhavn is far in front.
