Conway ALMOST hit it about midway through. Being a moderate conservative, I'll give him credit for being so close. The dem/left's issue isn't that they don't know how to fight, it's that they fight with facts and logic, which is simply antithetical to how repubs/right-wing come to their views, which is through feelings and perceptions. As the saying goes-you can't reason someone out of something that they didn't reason themselves into. So the dems need to get better at the feelings war, and quickly!
“Facts not feelings” was pushed by the right wing echo chamber for a decade at least for exactly this purpose.
That statement itself is about feelings - arrogant dismissal and self righteousness in lieu of sincere discussion. But it masquerades as sensible. And it creates a distraction where the sincere person goes and fetches the actual facts. And of course, gets nowhere because they deliver those facts to a brick wall of smug delusion.
I agree, arguing logic and reasoning with trumpers is a waste of time and energy. It’s seems that, starting at the orangey top, everything boils down to perceived personal aggrievement, resentments, bruised feelings and extreme emotions. So my question is, how, for example, do the Dems combat that?

Oh and any case brought would lead to the president calling on the supreme court to expedite hearing it since he has that authority too. Any resistance to what the president does could be met with the military if he declares martial law. So tread lightly. Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are not entitlements. The work force pays specifically in to those services. Bailing out banks and corporations, THOSE are entitlements. That word is used to describe the middle class and poor, never for the rich.
I believe the word "entitlement" refers to how it is noted in the budget. Things that are entitled and the budget can not be cut.

You have a good point, and that is why we need more civics education in high school! We need more debate classes as well, so we can learn to present a point that makes sense. Basically, we need to teach “critical thinking“ and civics and debates are essential to master critical thinking. That way, by the time people get busy with their own families and jobs, they can still figure their way through to see corruption when it’s staring them in the face.

I am dizzy with the level of fear I’m at. Literally dizzy. I’m disabled & not able to work, so I live on Social Security & Medicaid. I have to see two different specialists every month, & I’m in the middle of the process of getting a bridge for my teeth (The process takes 5 appointments, I’ve had 2 so far). And I have to take a crap-load of prescriptions. If they don’t pay my Medicaid bills, I’ll be completely unable to go to my doctors appointments, & I won’t be able to fill my prescriptions.
I have CRPS, which is ranked to be the most painful chronic condition that there is. More painful than childbirth, more painful than passing kidney stones, more painful than having a finger or toe removed with no anesthetic. And this pain is every minute of every day, & I’ve had it for 13 years now. Almost to the day.
My prescriptions keep the pain manageable & only at a 7-8 on a 1-10 pain scale. If I can’t fill my prescriptions, I won’t last long. I’m 💯 sure that my brain will just snap & I’ll go insane, or I’ll just end it myself.
I have an appointment in 2 days. I’m absolutely terrified that Medicaid won’t pay for it & I won’t be able to continue treatment for any of my medical conditions. I won’t survive. I’m petrified.
The Republicans appear to forget that people who are not mega rich need a regular income. They can't just walk out of their jobs even if they wanted to.

I had a friend many years ago who was a woman in the Marines at the Pentagon. At that time women in the Marines were rare. I think she was working for a general or some other high ranking official as a secretary. As you might expect, decades ago women in the military were treated worse than they are now. For some reason her job came to an abrupt end, I don’t recall the circumstances, but because of her shoddy treatment she decided to completely redo the filing system before she left and she didn’t tell her boss!! I’ve always loved this story and George talking about “quiet” sabotage brought it to mind this morning. The federal employees have a lot of power right now.

This is the big misunderstanding with the electorate, a vast proportion of which believes running a country is like running a business. It is not. THAT is why they want people to resign, if they do the person can't file Unemployment or some file some labor law lawsuit. @outlawJosieFox Retired Federal employee here, yes, you can, if the Government gives permission (waives sovereignty), however relief can also be sought through a bill in Congress.
Federal employees are at least partially protected by the Federal Employee Board, which Federal employees can appeal negative actions to. Add to that, a lot of documentation is required to terminate a Federal employee. Drug and alcohol abuse has to be treated and even absenteeism, incompetence requires management must at least try to help the employee to correct the behavior.
As far as I can see, the attempt to fire employees, scare them into quitting is bad management, intended to destroy the Federal Government as it stands. If I were in their position, I'd make them fire me, and take my (very generous) 52 week severence to get paid while seeking another job, failing that, I'd file for retirement. I hope that the targets here know that they can't be that easily fired.

Yes, DEI is also about the neurodivergent, disabled, and anyone who doesn't fit into standard physical, mental, or emotional parameters. Not everyone can do every job, but everyone deserves an opportunity if they CAN do the job.
I think that people don't understand that they are not going out and hiring incompetent people just so they meet someone who falls under DEI. A lot of times, they are just going places to recruit people who fall into those categories. And, people who fall into those categories are given consideration that they might not otherwise get. Personally, I don't believe that a perfect person exists for any job--we all have our strengths and weaknesses in any position. And I certainly don't believe that anyone falling into those categories will automatically do a worse job than a white male.
Besides, trump is certainly not hiring the best people, even amongst white males.

This reminded me that, as a person that leans left, that I can still discuss issues, disagree, agree, debate, and carry on a conversation over issues with people that don't think the same way. It was actually kind of enlightening because I've been listening to and responding to MAGA talking points for 10 years and at some point you can't debate lies. It turns into a big fact checking exercise which is fatiguing and just makes you want to quit. Thank you for this post. It gives me hope. Good to see true non MAGA conservatives express what their position is these days.
There is nothing healthier than a good debate with someone who has different points of view from you. It refines the thought process. You either better understand your own point of view, or you concede some of your point of view, whilst your fellow debater concedes some of theirs. The result for both is always better than before the debate. This is where the benefits of DEI are ignored by those currently in power. By sharing life experiences, one opens one's mind to so much more. The sum of parts is always greater than the whole.

Which part of DEI do you object to? Diversity? Equity? Inclusion? Certainly there are programs in particular workplaces that have been poorly structured but how fair were previous systems of nepotism, legacy and connections?

As a federal emplotee I have to say my far right "friend" told me that I make too much money and that the federal government needs to cut costs (when I told her about fork in the road). She then told me how great she is with money and how her accountant tells her how to pay as little as possible to the government and that all of the furniture she has bought used, including her bed. Then she said we need to bring jobs back to America. I was very confused! I bought a $1,000 matress made in the US and she is using a mattress some guy died in 24 years ago.

I worked for the VA and DFAS in the Federal Government. At first I thought learn the rules (regulations and laws) to perform my role effectively and efficiently. I came to realize that some Federal Government based on laws , regulations, policies, and procedures were put in place 20 to 30 years before my federal service. Changing the organization and the governing policies and procedures while ensuring governmental services continuity would take years not weeks. I am sorry to say that we are in for a rough 4 years.
