How to Fix Leaking Boot + Boot Solenoid *ST150*
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лют 2025
- Recent I noticed that my boot carpet and anything I put in the boot was getting damp, probably due to all the bad weather we've been having. Something somewhere was clearly leaking so in this video I'm taking a look at where the leak is likely coming from and trying to stop it leaking.

great video, having a look through the MOT history! woah, whats up with the bulbs and brakes!! not a lot of love was invested into it! but you have taken many hours bringing it back to life!
Thank you 😁Questionable is the best word I can use to describe the MOT history. But that was the idea, plenty of content 🙌🏻 it’s been a slog but it’s getting there.
Great fix mate, I can see this being really useful to loads of people!
Try it out, let me know how you get on 👍🏻
Nice vid mate, couple of tips;
1. Draw on the yellow side on the foam
2. Use the edge of the foam as a straight edge (saves on waste)
My boot key button doesn’t work either, any fixes for that?
I’m enjoying your as you aren’t afraid to show the pain along with the success 👍
weirdly, one push of the button doesnt cut it. you have to double press it (in a second) I think
I have the same issue with my car! Thanks for the video, really useful
You’re welcome brother 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Found you today some great videos I’ve replaced my solenoid now it says boots open all the time 🤦♀️
I’m going to check the lights as there’s definitely moisture not a lot though so hopefully this fixes it I’ve got to replace the third bulb anyway so might as well look at them all
It’s nice to see someone do it the real way lets face it we own fords lots of moments are use what you’ve got 😂
Thank you, sorry I’ve only just seen this comment 😬 yeah I think there’s a lot of DIY fixes that can solve common problems without costing a fortune and I wanted to share that with people 😁
Omg I just found this leak yesterday. Life saver
Glad the video helps 😁😁
Did this fix the leak?
Good video I’ve just subscribed 👍 and I think I will invest in some of the foam you used, some links in your video’s would be helpful
Thanks mate. Yeah I need to remember to add links 🤦🏻♂️ sorry, here’s the stuff I got www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152665904378 but your definitely won’t need the amount I bought 😂
Great idea about the adhesive foam! Mine was just leaking from the 3rd brake light fortunately. Down thru the bootlatch
I think that’s what was happening to mine. Did you notice any issues with your number plate lights? One of mine was flickering and I’m wondering if it’s from the water in there 🤔
Informative vid mate, thanks and subbed 😜🙂
Thats the next job on my list, fix 3rd brake light leak. ✌🏼
Nice video mate keep it up
Thanks bro 👊🏻 I see the cams video is live 👀 ima be all over that in a bit
@@MendItModIt no worries mate another little thing sorted on the old girl 👊🏻and yeah was a bit wet so wasnt a full time maniac 🤣 when I gave it some I gave it all I had though hit Rev limiter was the weirdest thing ever 🤣
Hi mate did you car used to really thick condensation on the in on damp morning and if so did it freeze in winter thankyou
Hi mate what thickness is the foam you use for the back lights thank you
I do mention it in the video mate but it’s 2mm 👍🏻
Does the driveshaft seal for the gearbox need doing? Mine does, but not sure how it’s done. If u could do a video on that, that’ll be great! :)
Ah man it’s a bit of a pig 😉 to do with the box in the car. Definitely doable though, have done it on a mates and he said the other side needs doing now so could well do a video on that when he’s allowed to come over 👍🏻 is yours leaking badly?
@@MendItModIt its not leaking to the point that it's leaving drips on the floor. Just can see the area is oily
Hi, Did you cure the leaks?
Where in Wales you from? Don't sound very Welsh lol good video though, my 3rd brake light is leaking like mad. I just used RTV silicone but this looks a much better way in doing it
I’m not actually Welsh but I have lived here a while. I don’t really think I have an accent of any kind 🤔 thanks man, I thought about silicone but I was worried about having to remove it in the future 😬
@@MendItModIt South Wales me lol has it leaked yet? As I'll probably take mine off and do it your way, ill be building my own boot floor as mine is completely ruined from the wet 😂
@@aneurinaustin ah I’m in mid Wales. Not far from the border. Oh really was it that bad? Nightmare 🥴
Great fix mate I’ve got the same problem with my boot solenoid mate you got any links for where to get one cheers
Thanks mate 😁 sure, I got mine on eBay, this is the one I bought www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333729627949
@@MendItModIt thank you mate look forward to the next video 👍
Did you get it working off the fob in the end? I need to sort mine out too...
Not yet, sorry it’s taken me so long to reply 🙃 but no still not sorted 😣
@@MendItModIt i know i'm a bit late to the party, but as just preparing my new bootlid (the old one is heavily rusted around the window) for the swap i had to rewatch it :-) As for your key: has anyone ever told you to doublepress the bootlid-release-button? i think it's meant as a safety feature, as newer Fords (all my 3 Focus i had/have) also do it like this.
What lowering springs would you recommend I recently got a mk6
I got some cheap ones off Facebook but if you want springs over coils I think most people go for Stance + or Eibachs. I’ve done a video on fitting mine, hopefully it helps
The boot button on the remote needs a quick double click to open the boot. Try it and let me know if it worked.
I have tried but sadly nothing. I’ve tried spamming the button about 40 times and it still doesn’t work 😩
How about Changing the Battery.? 🤔
Those small flat batteries do not last very long.! 👍
Did this do the trick for you? - on ours there is a seam weld below the light behind the bumper where the water seems to channel down, this has corroded and is leaking! - Not too hard to fix but still a pain.
did yoiu replace the solenoid with another one or did you just fiddle with it till it worked?
I replaced it with a new one off eBay, think it was like £11 and worst perfectly. It won’t pop with the key but I think it’s the key’s fault. They told me they lost the key when I bought the car and they had to buy a replacement from Ford so 🤷🏻♂️
Needs a strut brace
You live on Wales didn't release that with your accent haha im from Wales also
Haha nah no accent, no one round me really has one. I’m from England originally and went to school, uni etc in England too.
@@MendItModIt thats fair enough man, I watched most of your videos man and got me looking for a project car 🚗 👌
@@jedzillargaming2910 oh yeah? Nice one dude 🚗 😎
Did this work as mine seems to have sprung a little leak in his back end every so often
Yeah my boot is dry as a bone now 👍🏻
@@MendItModIt cheers brother I think I'll try that third brake light first 👊
@@russellmorgan8685 I hope you get it sorted man 🤜🏻🤛🏻
Has this kept your boot from leaking a month later?
Boot is nice and dry 👌🏻
A common fault with Fords fuision fiesta I use silicon
I thought about it but this way is less messy if I ever had to remove them again
Hey
Hey 👋🏻
