How do you use your Fractal live? 🎸
I use my FM3 in multiple ways, combining the different views. In 90% I switch between the ,,scenes,, and ,,effects,, modes but I use an external expression pedal to activate my volume, wah pedals or my talckbox effect too. The last thing in my setup is a 2 button extra switch and with this I can engage or disengage my volume boost, and controlling my tap tempo. I think it is a nice and compact setup, but I actually thinking about changing my 3rd party exp pedal to an EV2.
Just an extra: I also run my IEMs from the output 2 with a ts ts to trs cable. I receive a mono signal to hear the others from the band, but I can rout virtually my guitar signal in stereo in the unit, and boom😂, anyway it is a very useful and great piece of gear! Thanks Fractal!
Really smart setup with the extra 2-button switch! 🔥 Another fun thing to do: 4 different stages with the EV-1 - from clean->dirty->heavy->solo
As Guthrie Govan allready said about FM9: “This is my new church”. I have nothing to add to that. 🙃
@@G66eu🙏, woow, i’m curious, how i can do that
Well, almost all functions can be moidified. For example, set the gain from 0-50% of the EV-1 range, make sure to morph it with the level so it's not too loud. After 50%, activate anything else like the second amp or a drive/noise gate. At 75%, you can add a Multidelay. And the last percent would be a 2.5-4 dB boost so that you can still take away some dB if you're too loud for the solo.
And on top of all that you still have the tone knob on your guitar. It gives you so much more tone control than anything else, but is a bit overkill, to be fair 😂
New to the FM3 and not used it live yet....first time coming in just over a week.
I preferred the FM3 over the FM9 mainly on a size basis and, as I also use a couple of other MIDI controllable pedals, they're now all on a board and controlled by a third party footswitch (which is how I did my old board based on an HX Stomp).
The flexibility of the three in built footswitches is really clever and I'm getting used to it at home but live I'm also singing so will probably stick with the old method learned from previous boards of having one function per (ten button, third party) footswitch just because of the muscle memories built up.
I moved from the FM3 to the FM9. Of course, the FM9 is pretty amazing and easier to navigate. BUT - If I were to do it again, I'd probably not have bothered. For gigging I used a handful of presets and scenes. The FM3 was perfectly capable of everything I actually used. Especially now as there is gapless switching so you don't need to cram so much into a preset.
True, and with the Sets/Songs function, you'll have everything prepared for any gig.
I have the FM3 with the FC6 & a HELIX Floor. Taking your course on the FM3 really helped me a lot to finally get it gig ready. For me, the FC6 is a must because 3 switches for me just isn't enough. So the OMG9 setup is really useful. I will say the one thing, IMO, the HELIX has... at least for me... is the STOMP mode. I really like that. I know the FM3 has something similar by pressing & holding the effects switch on the FM3 (when using OMG9 & FC6). I'm getting more used to the FM3 live now but editing on the unit live is still a bit tricky, too many menus to go thru. Love your channel BTW & you are an awesome player.
I started off using Scenes, but ended up setting my FM9 to act as more of a traditional pedalboard, switching on and off effects, drive, etc with the use of per presets and control switches. Usually using 1 preset(kitchen sink style). Clean amp with a couple different OD/Drives. Might go back to scenes or set up to switch between presets to fully take advantage of the gapless switching. Either way you use it, it's perfect.
Nice vid! If you don’t need the fm9 extra power could go FM3 and FC6 controller.
Save the extra money for some chocolate.😂
You could combine the new VP4 with the FM3 and have stomp button effects that you like on the VP4. The FM3 and VP4 would pack into a much smaller carry case and provide some unique flexibility to combine together or use separately.
Thanks John! Is this preset on your Google Drive? Love the FM9 workflow.
It’s actually only 1 plex delay in the FM9 too, the AXE3 has 2 plex delays
Where did you buy the protector shields for fm9?
Zenrigs 😊
@G66eu thanks ❤️
I just followed the link " Grab all of my presets here: " and bought it, but the preset used in this video is not there #416 " Live layout Cordy 3..... Am I missing something? .....😪
We'll get this checked and get back to you asap
@@G66eu 🙂🙂
Sometimes i whish they had a FM5 which has the perfect size homeusage and most of liveuse
You can add external switches to any unit
Custom layout makes the use of fm3 way more convenient in that regard
@@G66eu Jes you can but if you are looking for an all in one solution in between these two you don´t have it available. I think i have to go with Fm3 and external switch, but if there would be an option for a FM5 for example i would use it
