True story behind the Ferrari F40 Seized in Lowestoft

- WATCH THIS VIDEO TO FIND OUT THE FULL STORY OF WHAT EXACTLY HAPPENED WITH THE FERRARI F40 THAT WAS RECENTLY SEIZED IN LOWESTOFT, SUFFOLK, UK.
Last week the team were contacted by a representative of the Wilderness Reserve in Saxmundham who had a VIP visitor who was requesting a full valet on one of his supercars. After some research the customer decided that TBC detailing were the company he wanted to go with, and we were honoured to hear this. further discussions we found out that the vehicle in question was in fact a @Ferrari F40! So as you can imagine we were more than happy to complete this job and couldn't wait to get started. 15 minutes before we were due to leave the customer called us direct and advised us that we probably wouldn't be able to complete the valet as he had just been pulled over by the police due to numberplate issues in no other than Lowestoft town. After further investigation the police discovered that the American insurance on the car wasn't covered for driving in the UK and depsite our customers best efforts the car had to be impounded. This is where we came in to save the day. Now because this was a Ferrari F40 the seizure made the local news which then blew up and was being covered by media outlets across the UK (links below) and even internationally. Now, a lot of the facts covered in these articles are incorrect, so we thought we would create this video to not only show you the work we completed on the car but to also explain what really happened.

With respect, if your not from this country and familiar with our rules and legislation especially when your from USA when almost all states have different rules then it’d quite clear the mistake was genuine. Yes the customer could have done research but he may be a busy person.

incorrect pronounciation of 'valet' it's spoken phoenetically as 'valay'
Thank you, we are aware. However within the car cleaning community in the UK it is predominantly pronounced Valet, despite it not being correct.

it should not matter how much the car cost.. its the quality of the job done that counts...afterall at the end of the day its just a glass fibre bodied car with a bonded alloy chassis. theres 2 of these things driving round my home city on a daily basis...

Why didn't you fully detail it in a Portable Protective Enviroment instead of outside in the Down Pour. Had u had such a easy available Product , could have easily left it in there till a Transport Company arrived, right up to the portable Unit ,presumebly with a Covered with a Covered Trailer or Truck.
I'm guessing it wasn't Ceramic Coated inside & out
This was just a premium full valet, the customer didn't want a full detail. Also it was at his request for us to come to him and complete this valet at his holiday rental.

Well if he’s from Miami and bought a car from the UK I’d imagine he’d be putting it on a ship you know it’s called common sense

If the car was bought from DK Engineering why was it in Lowestoft? A friend of mine from lowestoft told me he was familiar with the car and where the owner lived, so I think it was just sold privately. I still don’t get why someone from Miami would fly over and drive it about to get detailed rather than just getting it professionally transported straight over to the US
It was bought from DK and the client made the purchase of the car a UK getaway for some country/coastal driving. It then got professional transported back to Miami 2 days after we completed our work. 👍🏼
@@TheBodycentreLtdNorwichUK I can sense the intensity this car had on you brother! I had a similar experience as a detailer, YEARS.AND YEARS ago...with a Countach! It will never leave me...that detail was magic! Once in a lifetime for me too....never had a car as cool come through my shop again!
three million dollars would sound about right, which is approx £2.5 million , well that seems to be the current market value, judging by what is for sale at the moment.
Back in 90s I saw rod Stewart picking what I think was his mum up from Tesco,s in Epping in one of these.......had to laugh..🤣🤣....much more fun than a taxi...

He owned the car - didn't insure it. If you're rich enough to buy an F40 you're rich enough to insure it.
He did have insurance but apparently there was confusion about whether he was covered on UK roads

You know why people have insurance? its to pay for things that have happened that they can't normally pay up front, pretty sure the person that bought an F40 could pay for any accident that they might have been involved in
No excuses! no insurance while driving on the road is just plain stupid!
You do know most insurance indemnity is less than the value of that car ie he doesn’t need insurance. If you have a high enough net worth you can by pass standard insurance policies and self insure with a £500k bond… ie banks police etc self insure…

Not in the UK you can't, the law is not flexible on that. Also it's not about the value of the car it's any harm you may do to a third party and most motor policies have multi million pound indemnities.
@@nigelheath7048 fleet operators can self insure -London Transport does but you need Treasury Approval and a huge deposit.
