Because back in the day if a man and woman were together and worked together to amass wealth the man couldn't just leave and bring it all with him. So if it was like 5 to 10 years technically you were married in a sense. However, this is now abused by modern day women and this is a good example.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion but the fact that the lawsuit specifies chance (gambling, lets be real) and not spending money on expensive things.... Felix clearly has a gambling problem, and he clearly has a spending problem. He gambles so much and spends money he doesn't have while living in relative squalor. I'm sure part of it is laziness, part of it is immaturity, and part of it is being a Quebecker (JOKING OF COURSE LOL)... but really, someone needs to stop him from doing more harm to his financial situation, and if this does it, it'll actually be better for him in the long run.
