Elvis could turn any cover version into something special. Aside from that I prefer original artists with some exceptions such as Joni Mitchel and her song "Both Sides Now". Her version totally sucked and was not a hit until Judy Collins did her cover. She beat Mary Hopkins to this recording, although Hopkins did a beautiful live version on The Andy Williams Show, which unfortunately did not make it in same version decades later on a compilation album.
