Hi~ Greetings from Yunnan people, welcome to Yunnan, hope you can have a good time. In Yunnan, mushrooms were fried and stir-fried in the past, hot pot mushrooms have only become popular in recent years. Both have their own style and taste.😀

I really envy you two, I am Chinese oversea in Canada most of my life and do not have the chance to taste the authentic Chinese food you two tried. You need to have a party of four or more to order the amount of food you had, so you won’t let so much go wasted. The cost divided by four is actually quite reasonable, much less than we have to pay over here for that much food. Perhaps meet some expats and share the food when you go for more fancy restaurants other than the street food. Enjoy the rest of you tour in China.
I'm glad you didn't miss out on Yunnan's wild mushroom delicacies. Regarding poisoning from eating toxic mushrooms, 99.9% of cases occur due to careless personal foraging and home cooking. While everyone knows wild mushrooms are delicious, not everyone has the proper cooking knowledge. In legitimate restaurants, they strictly follow cooking requirements, making it very safe, and poisoning incidents are very rare. Additionally, they sample and store each dish, so if any issue arises, the medical system can respond quickly and accurately.
As a matter of fact, all mushrooms are non-toxic if you can get them in a regular restaurant. Unless you go to some special restaurants (such as private restaurants), you will be offered some low or poisonous mushrooms (don't worry, they are all non-toxic after treatment), which will have a more flavorful taste. Regarding mushroom poisoning in Yunnan, it is mainly due to eating wild collected mushrooms, which are very abundant in Yunnan, and some people will be poisoned by collecting wild mushrooms because of gluttony. There is even a joke that after someone eats mushrooms, he sees a hallucinatory villain who tells him that if he sees himself, he should immediately call an ambulance to wash his stomach. By the way, that "mysterious vegetable" is actually bamboo pith, which is also a mushroom.
@@chjin1796 That's why I'd say that even restaurants don't offer Suillellus luridus (to avoid food poisoning), but only special restaurants, such as the one that Yellen ate at in Beijing.

In most restaurants in China, it’s normal to pack up leftovers if you can’t finish your meal. However, in Yunnan, you must be careful. Some mushrooms are safe to eat after being cooked, but they can become toxic if left until the next day. Many people have been poisoned by eating leftover mushrooms the following day
First off, definitely wonderful vlog here you two are absolutely amazing! Second, I just want to let you know that the yellowish hotpot doesn’t seem to be the actual wild mushroom hotpot that is renown in Yunnan. This particular restaurant looks very likely that it’s more of one that aims to accommodate most tourists ‘ appetite, meaning its dishes won’t be too adventurous and overly local(authentic in a way) for those tourists. The yellowish hotpot contains mostly non-wild mushrooms that are poisonless. For example the black spiky one Luke had is called black “Jizong”and it’s crunchy. The yellow one is meaty and slimy called “XueShanJun”and both of these two are manly grown not wild. In a typical wild mushroom hotpot which you more often see from a less decorated, more local-looking family restaurant ran by local uncles and aunties, you’ll see all kinds of colorful and weird looking mushrooms in the pot. And you need to wait for it to boil for at least 15mins to fully cleanse the poison. Those wild mushrooms also change colors due to oxidation the moment it’s cut through when its inside touches the air. Anyways, hope your trip goes great in China❤❤
Finally!!! I'm waiting for you guys trying mushroom dishes all the time since u've been in Yunnan!!🎉The spicy fried mushroom type is called Jianshouqing. All kinds of wild mushrooms are local specialties in Yunnan, but you should be aware during the cooking process that these fungi are toxic if they are not cooked well, and some fungi may also have magical hallucinogenic effects. But don't worry about this. Local hospitals have rich experience with such patients, because local people will also be hospitalized during the annual mushroom season due to accidental eating.
Spicy stir-fried mushroom and mushroom soup is the best, you see that a pot of gelatinous soup, with vegetables and fried eggs, especially the fried eggs adsorbed the fresh juice of the soup, oil and not greasy, while retaining the taste of edible mushrooms. 辣子炒菌菇和菌菇汤是最好的,你看那个一盆胶质状的汤,配上蔬菜和煎蛋,特别是煎蛋吸附了汤的鲜汁,油而不腻,同时保留了食用菌的鲜味。 You know, it's like meat but it's not meat, and that's the ultimate ingredient. 就是那种像肉又不是肉的感觉,这才是顶级的食材。When Yellen came to China, she ate the dish "Kung Pao Boletus luridus Schaeff." 耶伦来华的时候,吃的就是那盘“宫爆红见手青“,Imagine how expensive poisonous mushrooms can be made that so good. 想象下名贵的毒蘑菇也可以做那么好吃。

8:50 Peppers come in all sizes & shapes-including round. Some look like small flat convoluted tomatoes. There are well over 5,000 varieties of peppers in the world.

期待你们虎跳峡的旅行:)
I'm glad you've updated the video!
8:50 Peppers come in all sizes & shapes-including round. Some look like small flat convoluted tomatoes. There are well over 5,000 varieties of peppers in the world.
Yes,round papers are not so spicy but have very good flavour~
The fried mushrooms with peppers you eat are called Jianshouqing, which means that when you break it with your hands, it turns green. If you eat it without fully cooking it, you will have hallucinations.😅
Really really really really really enjoyed your video
I built a new habit, open youtube and check any new vlogs from 2 mads 😄
I like your video so much, have a good trip in China.
The thing you don’t know is bamboo fungus, which is a bit like a net-like mushroom and is very delicious if cooked well.
I have to grab a snack to watch your videos because you always make me hungry!
U 2 r a lovely couple. 1 reminder for u, when using chopsticks during meals, u can always ask for a spoon so as to help balancing the food from the plate or bowl to yr mouth. This is common among Chinese especially having noodles coz it’s slippery.
wow! Incredible. Thank you so much for sharing ❤❤
It seems that luke can understand more and more Chinese and make little conversations,he understood 等一下 Which means wait for a second, That's so great~ More convenience for your traveling~ Good for you~
Amazing meal ...would love to have sat there with you ! Looking forward to more of the actual town itself. Have fun guys.
The iFlytek translator is a good choice for traveling in China. The Time-Space Pot is also a good option.
“The majority of food poisoning come from mushroom hot pot so we are very very excited.”
When you heard Naomi said this, you know this is something worth watching.
Welcome to China Luke & Naomi ! You two are so entertaining, I really enjoy your videos. Please keep updating more, haha!
it's one of the best food eating videos I have ever seen. Congratulations
I spent a year in China a couple of years ago during my studies. I enjoy watching your videos to remind myself of the atmosphere, people and the likes. Enjoy your travelling!
Thanks for watching 😊👍 glad to hear you enjoy our videos!
21:14 That is also mushroom, which is called bamboo mushrooms. It is super tasty in soups.
In select places in China you can find mushroom restaurants. In Yunnan and Sichuan especially good. There is a good one in Chengdu near the archaeological site on the nearby food street. It has hundreds of mushrooms on the menu.
Your update rate is so fast. I love you all.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@TwoMadExplorers Not quick enough,I can't wait🥰
@@王布诺 ❤️
I'm expecting the next video already O.o
why m i looking at you 2 eating such amazing food at 11pm in bed? now i m hungry and cannot sleep. 😂
We eat almost everything with rice😂 Rice, noodles, or some kind of flour base buns are the common staples in China.
Love your videos! This place is really mystical, magical, stunning... Enjoy! 😍🥰😘
Love your starwar top!!
19:44 这也是一种蘑菇,叫“竹荪(zhú sūn)”。It's also a kind of mushrooms, it could be called "Bamboo fungus" in English.
Interesting guess, but it looks more solid than lacy (Phallus indusiatus) Fungi. Maybe it is.

Luke, I'm sorry.....I think I'm falling in love with Neomi.😁😁😁
😂😂😂😂😂
🥺I think I'm sorry too.
Watching you guys eat, make me hungry❤️
Glad to see you both sitting down and enjoy your delicious food safe🎉🎉❤
Enjoy so much your video! Espcially your meal, I need to get some snacks when watching you two talking the meal, otherwise, torture for me! 😂😂😂
I randomly stumble upon this youtube channel and immediately subscribe, I like their vibes. That's it, Yunana is my next vacation destination, thanks guys.
20:33 Chopsticks basics: tap the bottom of your chopsticks down on a plate or napkin so they are lined up with each other. You had them almost an inch off at this point in the video which will not enable them to work well for you. Luke: Look up "How to Use Chopsticks with Jet Tila" (chef).
筷子的上半部分要靠到手的虎口部位(在手背拇指、食指之间),这样能更稳地使用筷子
some special mushroom in China are very expensive, my sister in the hometown grow the special mushroom called "羊肚菌“, it can be sold around 800 RMB per 500 gram, it's about 100 EU dollar per one jin.
我经常在蒸鸡蛋的时候放一点,挺好吃的。
@@whatswhite110 广东喜欢用羊肚菌和鸡一起煲汤
Another exciting and interesting video. It is always my favourite to follow your adventures.
I will be going to Beijing soon... can you share your experience in bringing your devices to China? Drones, Camera and all those extra batteries... which is a concern for all travellers. TQ... cheers!!! 😊
Cant wait for the hiking vlog 😂
Coming this week ❤️ thanks so much for the super thanks, we love you!
@@TwoMadExplorersThere’re lots of Chinese fans love you guys too! Enjoy your journey. ✨🩵
13:10 the thing looks like nut that Naomi try to eat is called tsaoko, use for cooking as spice, especially in the west southern China😌
You may ask them to buy you beer from outside, you may also dip the chicken meat inside the hot soup if you don't like cold, and food you ordered enough for 4~5 person.
The soup was also so so good..yummy and very very healthy🎉🎉❤
In China,if you order too many dishes and can't eat them all,you can call the waiter to “打包”(dabao),which means wrap it up ,and generally they will give you some boxes and bags (sometimes it's free but sometimes it may cost you 1-2元¥,very cheap ),so you can eat them next time and also don't be guilty for waste food
LOL, I am from China and I really wanted to try that hot pot but not brave enough. I really enjoy watching your videos.
Delisous ❤ looks like lovely restaurant, bit more expensive but definitely worth it and great video ❤
the second dish, that Naomi's favorite fried pepper mushroom dish was using the poisonous mushroom, its called 见手青,lurid bolete😸
you guys are fantastic. So much fun to watch.
