Never have I heard a band release something that's ENTIRELY different from their previous one until ST, and that is what PROG is all about. Wishing them more success in the mainstream, it's what the metal scene needs! EAT ME 🙌
Sleep Token is really tapping into their Deftones influence in this one and it’s paying off huge, not to mention some blackgaze thrown in there. It’s awesome seeing the evolution of every track
@@ryanpatterson7973 I feel like they drop hints occasionally. Like in this one I hear be quiet and drive in the intro, and the intro verse is Rosemary. The summoning sounds a lot like Leathers and you’ve seen the Butcher. Gods sounds exactly like Goon Squad

There is a lot of speculation that the screaming on this one is IV, not Vessel. There are a couple live shorts out there where he takes over the scream when Vessels vocals overlap.
I love that proggy side of Sleep Token, being a huge Coheed and Cambria fan. Pushing those boundaries is what it's all about. Great reaction as always! Eat me lol
Dude, yes. Huge Coheed fan for the past 15 years here. This is pressing all my Coheed buttons, even though they sound very different. Super atmospheric, soaring choruses, interesting hard hitting drum grooves, at times dark & moody - all in the Coheed playhouse.

Eat me This definitely has a black metal feel to this with vocals like Rolo Tomassi These singles have been amazing with the depth of genres they have tapped into but are able to tie it altogether beautifully. 19th May can't come soon enough.
On point with the scream. The harsh sound like he's in pain fits the song and its meaning so much. This is entirely fresh cause nowadays all metalcore vocalists have proper technique (nothing wrong with that) but they all sound the same at times. This type of scream just 'screams' so much emotion.
interesting you mentioned Chino, because I thought some of the melodic work had Chino/Deftones vibes to it. There are a lot of similarities between the bands (not to speak ill of either, as they're great), but some sleep token songs have that environmental/atmospheric feel like Diamond Eyes or White Pony
I am so happy to hear people saying this because I've only recently gotten back into metal and find myself most enjoying Deftones and Sleep Token. It's like moody bedroom metal... lots of sexual tension and pining, but it also sounds cinematic and atmospheric. idk how else to describe it.

One con might be that, as nice as the distorted screams sound, I do find it hard to make out exaclty what he’s screaming. Maybe that’s the pint and that’s fine. The scream is more like an instrument adding to the music as a whole. I also found some of the sections felt drowned out a little. Like the bridge part near the end, the drums felt turned down compare to their other four songs. This could just be a perception thing or something. Needless to say, sleep token is indeed 5/5 and I’m pumped!
