I work at a horse rescue, I cried like a baby when Buck couldn't help that palomino colt. Knowing he would have to be put down, not his fault. Buck says it like it is.
Have just watched this movie....absolutely beautiful - Buck Brannigan is completely inspiring, and how he helps horses is just how you help rescue dogs...and any other animal.....kindness but firm.....NEVER anger ... it's mutual respect between a human and and animal!! Wonderful ...
We LOVED this movie. What Buck says applies to so much more than horses. He is a beautiful person with a true understanding about love, life and kindness. A must see!
I saw this movie yesterday. The story is about a man who lives and teaches tranquility, patience and confidence. The world needs more Bucks. This guy is the coolest cat on the planet!
Breaking the cycle is one of the most admirable things you can do. It shows incredible strength of character, even though I'm sure it is absolutely terrifying to go against how you have been taught to behave. Everybody breaks free from their parents, but few do it so completely as Buck seems to have. I admire him for recognizing he didn't deserve to be beaten by his father and stopping that bullshit in its tracks.
This is the real deal. So simple but so profound. Buck is a horseman with a heart! Must see feel good movie. True story. Coming to HillCrest in San Diego.
Forever a horse lover and I already feel inspired and can't wait to get back in the saddle! Knowing the reality of being around horses is God's gift to the soul and those who don't know it should experience it. I can tell he is a beuaitful man one hard to find and in tune with his soul and those of horses!
Horses are NOT merely a reflection of the person working with them. They are born with strong personalities and inclinations. I have one horse that is naturally very nervous and fearful, and another who has been treeing bears since he was a weanling -- bold as brass and totally confident. I've trained them both since babies. Does that make me schizophrenic? Yes, we can moderate and influence, but horses are THEIR OWN BEINGS.
This looks like a fantastic movie, and probably one of the first horse movies my parents won't roll their eyes at when I ask to see it (: This is beautiful, and I can't wait to see it! (I'm going tonight with a horse lover friend, and can hardly stand the hours until then!)
Love how he points out that 'a horse can tell you a lot about a person'. Deeply inspired by this film though my horse didn't cooperate as well. Perhaps I am not enough of a 'tortured soul'. My horse has 'people problems'.
i just watached this tonight! it was actually really good, and hes halairious!!! one of my favorite movies, can you believe the trainer in "The Horse Whisperer" was based on him XD
look out for it at film festivals. it is in new zealand now at the film festivals travelling the country. i live in a small town and it is even coming here in October. I've marked it on my calendar!
Gosh I want to see this so badly! I totally believe in positive training methods but I never knew there were some for horses! I can't wait to learn what he has to offer. :)
@gusgus1219 no he's happily married with kids. Watch the movie? And what would it matter if he was gay? It's a wonderful film and he's a wonderful person.
also look up ray hunt. so by saying all those people rode in on his coat tails you are also saying he rode in on ray hunts coat tails who rode in on the dorrance brothers coat tails and they learned from somebody. the idea is not to immitate these people but to learn from them and improve on what they do.
@proteus1579 actually Bill Dorrance is considered the origanal natural horseman. the gentleman you responded to did not say anything negative about buck but actually said something buck says. in a nutshell anyone can do this. thats why all the big names including buck do seminars.
@timmay301 watching a man with a horse and how he is with them certainly can teach you about life and how we should behave and it can help you look at yourself more honestly. A person who thinks they can't learn from something is already handicapped by that attitude. Maybe you need to see it more than you realise just because you think this way
The colt had to be put down idk if you seen the movie but he was crazy she had way to many studs and he bit one of the guys that works with buck on his head so Buck told her that he is to crazy to mess with he needs to be out down which he was.
Today I rode a very young horse, 5 years or so, who just stopped racing, I tried to catch him, it didn't work, than I let him choose to come see me, 30 sec later his head was in my arm =)
Is there a chance to watch this online???? I am from Germany and read these great comments and I am like a cat on hot briggs. I want ti watch this. Who is this guy ? What is his name?
@belongtobill He offers classes around the country throughout the year! To be a spectator at his classes is $20 and well worth it. Google search Buck Brannaman for the rest of this years schedule.
I know exactly what you mean i too am the only horsey one in the family and i have had my boy from a baby and broken him etc and they just dont understand the bond we have
@Hudson2012 I was sooo horrified when i heard her say 18 colts!!! Oh and agree about the orphans comment, I ride a pony that was an orphan and he is much more dangerous then the completely green thoroughbred I ride!!
I was really going along with the video and I was wanting to see it and then Eddie Vedder started singing that awful song and now I don't know if I can do it.
Saw the movie and loved it. Was sad when they decided to put the 2 year old cold down. It was the right decision maybe but it was such a human failure, not the animals fault. I wish Buck would have talked more about the importance of gelding. In a case like that just gelding might have made a difference had it been done earlier. Not to mention the lady said she had 18 studs? Yikes! Not fair to the horse and he paid with his life. Hopefully she went home and gelded all 18 horses.
I was there and watched that horse attack her he bit and kicked her so violently she begged me not to shoot him he was kept in a pen that was next to my drive way and house that horse would follow me in the dark while I would take my trash out and snort and kick Kelly was a crazy horse I had to tell her to move him off the property line or I would shoot him I had kids and lived in fear of that horse and yes she had 18 male horses and 1donkey and they would go nuts and it would sound like a cal
In this world there are bad people and bad animals for no rhyme or reason they are just bad the lady who had that horse kelly was not a bad person just in over her head she helped me with the horses that stayed on my property many times cause I don't like horses and Kelly helped make that still true today Kelly was a bad horse that should have been put down long before he attacked her or anybody else

I still love him and his ways of teaching a decade later
I saw this movie yesterday. The story is about a man who lives and teaches tranquility, patience and confidence. The world needs more Bucks. This guy is the coolest cat on the planet!
One of the Best movies ever. Bought it from a single persons recommendation.
Watched it today. Cried, laughed, screamed once and smiled a lot. Liked it much!

literally one of my favorite movies- would love to do a clinic with him one day. what a special person!
This guy has such a strong soul, what a genius.
What a great way for the public to see how a partnership w/ a horse is developed and fostered. I look forward to seeing this one. Wow
horses are a mirror to your soul--spot on. they're amazing animals and i can't wai to see this.

This movie was wonderful.
I could watch hours and hours of this man training horses! I seen the movie and it was amazing but I did not want it to end! :)
God has truly blessed Buck, with the gentlest of hearts, and inner peace that one could possibly hope for, this side of Heaven.
the trailer pulled a tear out of me.
Love how he points out that 'a horse can tell you a lot about a person'. Deeply inspired by this film though my horse didn't cooperate as well. Perhaps I am not enough of a 'tortured soul'. My horse has 'people problems'.

I need to see this movie!
I need to see this!! I know my horses are a mirror to my soul but all in different ways :)
@lostlovetwilight The song at the end of the trailer is Pearl Jam - "Just Breathe"
Amazing Buck! :-)

this is amazing!
@skyler807 It is a beautiful film on so many levels.

@Williamfalley15 You mean the song that starts around 2:00? That's Just Breathe by Pearl Jam
@timmay301 watching a man with a horse and how he is with them certainly can teach you about life and how we should behave and it can help you look at yourself more honestly. The colt had to be put down idk if you seen the movie but he was crazy she had way to many studs and he bit one of the guys that works with buck on his head so Buck told her that he is to crazy to mess with he needs to be out down which he was.
Monty Roberts claims that "The Horse Whisperer" was based on him. It was based on Buck Brannaman.
Today I rode a very young horse, 5 years or so, who just stopped racing, I tried to catch him, it didn't work, than I let him choose to come see me, 30 sec later his head was in my arm =)
well done!!!
what is the song playing on the trailer?
Is there a chance to watch this online???? I am from Germany and read these great comments and I am like a cat on hot briggs. I want ti watch this. Who is this guy ? What is his name?

@Hudson2012 I was sooo horrified when i heard her say 18 colts!!! Oh and agree about the orphans comment, I ride a pony that was an orphan and he is much more dangerous then the completely green thoroughbred I ride!!

He literally stole a quote from Monty Roberts about helping horse with people problems.
@thatbethgirl yea i found it :) thanks though
