still watching all these videos .. really amazing he's playing some of his best songs and has no idea how big they'll be. no one knows the words yet. just singing into the void.. i can only imagine being there that night.. you would think this is the greatest artist you've ever heard.. and honestly, he is.
going from memory, this is from the Dec. 22 '005 show, not Dec. 20... John played a 3-night stand - Tue-Wed-Thu - in his big homecoming to Eddie's, with all different songs each night, about 50 songs in total, i.e. his entire catalog up to that point. I remember everybody going nuts when he hit the opening notes to Victoria, which was the first song he played on the first night. I'm almost positive that Stop This Train was played near the end of the show on the last night. John built up to it, and for good reason... what a composition it is.
crazy i looked for this never found it, and uploaded it. THEN I FIND THIS and I'm like "Ohhhh that's where it was " It definitely is the best recording!
love this version because he had just written it and you could tell he was still really feeling it
Totally

Yep :) Very first and in my opinion best recording. This is John Mayer in his creative and artistic prime, right in the midst of writing Continuum

Is this the first time he played it live?
Yes
If the guitarist doesn't own this channel, then well, I'm just going to be quiet... But a certain Calvin Klein perfume for men comes to mind.
