Thank you for the great video. I replaced the Burl trim on the passenger side of my 2011 A207 Cabriolet. It is airbag equipped and needs to have the “Airbag” cover pried off and have a T25 fastener removed to take the door panel off.
Oh, by the way: Anyone having difficulty putting the panel back on: 1. Check advice below on aligning the rubber seal, into which the panel top top tabs fit; and 2. Check that the orange popper fixtures are all in the slots, in the back of the door panel. When unpoppering it, some of these stay in the door, and you'll not be able to fit the panel back over them neatly. Just prize them out of the door holes, and push them back into the corresponding panel slot positions.
Vince, The 'how to remove the Mercedes 207 door card video was really helpful, this morning, to get the card off my 2013 (facelift) A207 Cabriolet. Don't know if it is a European model or cabriolet model thing, but there is one more T25 screw, near the top rear of the card, hidden underneath a plastic plug that says "Airbag". Thought this additional note might be handy to your subscribers. Thanks Alan Cartwright (UK Subscriber)

Thanks, man I ended up deciding to do a burr wood vinyl wrap of the plastic pieces after the "wood" trim started peeling off. Its just the quality of those trim pieces and they are expensive for faux wood
@@bishophunt9319 yes they are i got the wrap from amazon then i had a cheap Walmart heat gun . I removed the panel and then the insert then i wrapped the piece n reinstalled
@@quentinr1 Thank you very much for responding. I was wondering how to fix it without buying those expensive trim pieces. I will go with the remove and wrap the pieces. Again - Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing this. Curious how the replacement parts hold up. Hoping they’re not as faulty as the original. I find this absolutely ridiculous that the siding is lifting everywhere in my car and Mercedes will do nothing about it, even though it’s a known problem
This driver side has held up to this day. However, I since carefully removed all the other peeled wood trim and cleaned the glue off the black plastic behind it. It looks good. No one would know it wasn’t just black trim. Except for the drivers door which I’ve been hoping would peel so I could make it black too. Anyway, my advice today would be don’t replace it, just peel it.
VinceRocca thank you so much for this advice! Mercedes wants $1000 to replace just the 2 front door pieces. I was going to try an auto body shop. But mine is coming loose from my dash and backseat, all of it. What solvent did you use to remove the glue?? That sounds like a good solution
I don’t remember exactly, but I would have started with Rubbing Alcohol, then denatured alcohol, then maybe lacquer thinner as those are the three staples in my cabinet. I don’t think it was acetone.
Great instructions. I have an E350 convertible with airbags. There is one additional T25 screw behind the removable plastic plate that reads "airbag" (next to door lock). Reinstalling door panel is a challenge, any tricks for this would be useful.
Thanks. My panel went back on pretty smoothly. Just go slow and line it up is all I can advise. Glad I could help. You can help me by subscribing so I can get to 100k subscribers.
@@VinceRocca The channel on the top of the door (where that tabs from the door panel are supposed to fit) was a little distorted. I was able to straighten this channel out with a slotted screwdriver. This made fitting the panel on the door quite simple. I am subscribed.
Hi My E 250 coupe 2010 has a damaged trim, but haven't had any success in finding a replacement part! where to locate?? Looks like it is straight forward to replace, thanks.

Hey Rocca! Do you know where can I find instructional videos on how to replace this front glass piece? I have the exact same model and my window was broken into by some lunatic this past weekend - I'm trying to see if this is something I can do without having to pay the dealership big bucks for it
I know this is off subject but I have a car like yours. Do both of your seats move forward for access to the the back seats when the front seat is layed foward? Only my driver side does this! Could it mean my passenger seat is malfunctioning or is it only the driver side that does it?
It worked like a charm!!!! New project and maybe you can help? While I had the door card off I tried to replace the worn door lock switch. I bought a new one but cannot figure out how the old one comes out! Every vid out there is for a C-Class which is of course no where close to being similar! Any suggestions?
I have no clue. I’m a TV editor who does some DIY stuff but not an auto tradesman, and I never examined the lock mech when I had removed the door panel. Good luck tho.
I’ve tried a few glues with no real luck. The extreme heat peels it again. This is why I replaced the whole piece in this video. However, since making this video, I’ve removed any peeling trim and left the black plastic background. If you do discover a good glue, please report back.
Hey man, mine just broke off and I can't find any replacements parts. I got the black wood trim. Do you suggest leaving it with the black plastic or keep looking for the wood trim?
More of mine fell of too, and I just ended up carefully removing each piece then cleaning up the black under it and just left that. It looks nice with the plain black. As a matter of fact, this door in the video is the only one left with trim. Glad I could help. You can help me by subscribing so I can get to 100k subscribers.
It hasn’t. But it took 7 years for the first one to peel. So there’s still time. LOL. All the other trim did peel and instead of replacing it, I carefully removed it so it’s all BLACK trim now. Except for the new driver side door. Once it peels again, I’ll just carefully remove it. Glad I could help. You can help me by subscribing so I can get to 100k subscribers.
I just cleaned it up with some acetone or denatured alcohol. I don’t remember which. It was harsh enough to smooth out any putty knife blems and remove the glue, but not melt off the texture.
