    Glad to see the Zapitti staff made moves to catch up to the speed and display of their new player (under a new flag) compared to the others on the market such as Zidoo and Dune.
    I have a Zapitti 4k PRO sitting in storage now (soon to be a brick). The Zidoo 2000 Pro I now use is way faster and responsive in every way. It appears this new R_volution player matches it in speed. Unfortunately it is late to market and does not have any unique features that I would consider switching.

    It's not my logic it's the law here in Europe. If, for instance, a smart TV don't have a software problem and can't be connected to the internet is not working 100% according to the product announced. So, or they fix it, or they have to replace it because the software and the hardware were sold together and can't be seen as two different products.

    This really feels like an outdated device. Very very slow. For that price it should have a 1TB nvme as a cache which would give you instant results. That and the loading of a movie is unbearable.

    • @Youthman

      I’m not aware of any media player on the market with 1TB. Here is Dune’s $1,500 flagship player - www.dune-hd.com/collections/frontpage/products/dune-hd-ultra-vision-4k#specifications

      @@Youthman The point is a $35 nvme drive installed by the company would solve the issues, but they are too cheap. Even a 512GB would be plenty. There's several alternatives that do a much better job at the same price.

      There’s probably a combination of things that affects the loading speeds.
      It is Android based which doesn’t help much. I’m sure it would be a lot snappier if it ran off of its own firmware.

    Since a few months I switched from my Zappiti Mini 4k HDR to my Formuler Z10PRO MAX. Am running the latest version of KODI on it. This goes way faster than every other expensive media player I've seen. The Z10PRO MAX is only about €180,- it's got 32GB of RAM, 1Gbps LAN connection etc. I compared the picture quality with the Zappiti and my Panasonic DP-UB824 UHD player and there's almost no difference! I've seen Formuler already released the Z11 version which is even better and still cheap. Kodi ain't that difficult to configure as many people think. And yes the Formuler also supports HDR (maybe DV aswell haven't tested), Dolby Atmos, DTS:X. And not like the Apple TV 4K the compressed versions of Dolby etc.

    Thanks for the video. Scrolling is better than my Zappiti Neo. Zidoo boot time into movies and poster art is a lot faster still. I am kinda happy this mess happened. Otherwise I don't think I would have given Zidoo a shot. The Zidoo will automatically group those clips under the same poster and when you click on it then give you the option of which clip to select. Kinda like a collection/saga for that single title. Works great for movies Like Lord of the Rings where I have Theatrical Cut, Extended Cut disc 1 and Extended Cut disc 2. Or some of my foreign films that have international cut, US cut, director's cut, etc.

    There should be a setting in the setup/preferences where it tell you where you artwork matadata is stored. Similar where Zidoo has settings that point to the internal storage of the unit itself, internal cache/storage ssd drive, not your internal movie HDD. You may have to go into setup to find out where this info is being stored. Good Video.

      @Youthman  10 місяців тому

      Thanks Paul. I did not see anything in the setup menu that states the exact location of where they store the media files.
      Looking on my hard drive, there is a folder called .R_evolution, and only has an info.dat file. I may be incorrect, they may store it internally on the player itself, rather than your actual hard drives.

      Sorry to disagree but at least here in Europe if you can't fix the product you are forced to accept it and return the money back to the client within the warranty time. Of course it has to be seen case by case. For example you can't return a car just because you had a flat tire and they can't get you one equal to the original. But for most of the electronic products with less then one year, if they can't repair it you have the right to return it back without justification and should be the sales company to prove that is working fine@@Youthman

  • @Antimonkat
    @Antimonkat 10 місяців тому

    Even if it's stored locally on a hard drive it's still mechanical and will have slow access times. there are a ton of files that need to be loaded individually it's going to take time no matter what. now if you loaded that center bay with an SSD performance might be significantly improved but that would only be the case if you could point the player to save the image cache to that drive versus the same location where your media is stored which is a feature I'd be curious if it has. But yeah the only way for it to be faster natively is if they were storing the images internally on the same place that stores its own software which is some sort of Flash memory but then you run into capacity issues with large libraries like I have with my shield. I guess the next logical question is will this work without an internet connection? like what happens if it can't connect to the server, will your database of movies still load?

    • @Antimonkat
      @Antimonkat 10 місяців тому +1

      If they precache the images into RAM in the background like you suggest while you are in the menu that would help it a lot to make it feel faster regardless of where the images are saved. The benefit of doing it via ssd/flash though is it would only have to do that once and you would get ram like performance all the time whereas if they cache it to ram on load it would have to do that every time we turn the player on. I'm also curious how many items it can cache before it starts over writing. I have close to 3000 titles.....i doubt it's going to be able to cache all my art at once...

    @jjchmiel78 I own a Zappiti Neo as well. I am testing out the Zidoo Z2000 model. I feel the same way because I wouldn’t have tried out Zidoo myself. So far I’m liking what I’m seeing. The Zidoo is really snappy. The only concern is that it’s not recognizing all of my content. They don’t even show up at all in the unmatched section. I have to make up another phony title then go in and rematch them. None of these are Tv shows. Out of my 1,025 titles 812 of them show up. So far I’m not seeing 213 titles. I can see them obviously in file system. I have some work to do! The Zappiti does a much better job sweeping my collection I will say that.
