I just started my UA-cam channel, so this video is so timely! I am starting off with shorts and on the background I am editing some vlogs, getting them ready to post. I also am planning to do videos about topics I like such as finding yourself back after becoming a parent and topics like FOMO and essentials for everyday life situations such as studying, parenting, vacation etc. On top of that I am also planning on doing travel vlogs when I am going to travel. I am so excited, but also nervous. I guess you just gotta start scared and see where it brings you.

Love this video, like most of your content... One of the very few creator channels that gives honest, valuable information. However.... Starting a youtube channel now is in fact one of the worst moments, not the best! Simply because youtube has become really big the last few years with a LOT of big youtubers and huge amounts of 'garbage' video's... Obviously if something is garbage is in the mind of the beholder, but we all know how we get suggestions on our feeds on random gaming video's (even if we have absolutely no interest in gaming) and AI-generated content. Also it's a near guarantee you will always have a bunch of Mr.Beast video's on your homepage, just to mention one big youtuber. Even if you NEVER watch Mr.beast video's... All in all: the algorithm has completely lost its way. It very strongly favours big channels and it favours certain topics (for instance gaming). If you're not big and don't have video's on that one specific niche the algorithm somehow loves you are screwed. The UA-cam algorithm used to be an amazing "discovery"-algorithm that would discover things for you as a viewer that you really like, no matter if it's from a big channel or a channel that just started yesterday. Today it isn't anymore... If your video just happens to be about something the algorithm doesn't like, no-one will get to see it... no matter the audience engagement of your content! In fact, audience engagement isn't very important anymore for how the algorithm treats the content... Just looking at my own stats... I have video's that really did not click with the audience that still got thousands or even tenthousands of impressions from the algorithm. I also have content that people LOVED, many likes, comments, subs, high AVD, high CTR... yet, hardly any impressions and a complete flatline within an hour or so. There's also many other werid things in the algorithm, for instance the algorithm will nearly 'shadow ban' any content in which it somehow automatically recognizes minors (under 18, not just under 13!). THis has been happening for years now, youtube simply doesn't care. So if you're running a channel where your video's feature minors, certainly if they're girls you have a HUGE challenge... (I know, my channel features two seventeen year olds as the 'main characters'). That being said: there is no other platform like youtube, so if you really want to create video content youtube is definitely the place to go! No doubt about it. But it is a constant battle when starting these days, a battle against a computer mainly... It used to be about creating good quality content that has an audience, nowadays if you want to grow you should first 'convince' the algorithm before even thinking about your audience... which is kinda awful tbh. (for the record: this is me running the third youtube channel in the last 6 years while holding degrees in statistics and computer science... I know my stuff in this area!)

I heard of another AI supported editing software by turns horizontal UA-cam videos to vertical video clips for reels and YT shorts. It can also detect the most interesting clips within the long form and preps it for repurpose. Do you happen to know what that software is called?
