Anyway onto the bike. As you may remember i restored the tank from this bike in a previous video for the previous owner of the bike. his intention was to have me restore the tank and that would give him the inspiration to get on with the rest of the bike but sadly this was not the case. So i made him an offer on it and now its mine to restore back to its former glory.
It was initially found lying in a barn parted out and whats left is all that you see in the video so theres a lot of bits ill need to source, easier said than done! No one even knows if it runs as whoever parted it out has been long forgotten in the sands of time, then my friend stepped in saved it from the barn and now its in my possession.
So the first job was to finish what had been started and that was stripping it down. It didnt take long as none of the bolts were seized and a lot had been replaced with cap screws so that tells me someone has cared for this bike at some point.
After it was all stripped it was given a throughout cleaning before i applied the paint stripper and started stripping the old fashioned messy way as the frame wont fit in my blaster and i dont want to send the frame out for blasting as i want to do everything on the bike myself.
Once the paint was off i was surprised to see that the frame was in really nice condition apart from the surface rust that had spidered its way under the paint and to just about every corner of the frame. But no matter a selection of wire wheels and grinding discs would make short work of it!
After wire brushing i filled a couple of small dents in the frame , i used filler as they were so small they didnt warrant getting a stud welded to them and being pulled out. Then i degreased every part of the frame before coating in etch primer to prepare the surface for the high build 2k primer. High build was used to fill in all of the small crater left behind from when i removed the rust.
After baking the primer was hard enough to begin the wet flatting process, technically this is not need on a frame as most of it is never seen when the bike is built but this is Really Random Channel and if a job is worth doing its worth over doing! When the sanding was complete i re-etched a few areas of rub through then proceeded with a nice glossy coat of black to finish of the frame restoration.
As you can see from the results it turned out fantastic! This project is shaping up to be a good one!
Stay tuned for episode 2 coming soon ;)
A new addition to my videos from now on will be a water mark and my channel name popping up in random places throughout the video as im getting rather tired of people re-uploading my content as their own i hope you guys understand.
If you like what you see and have any ideas for the channel or would even like to donate something to restore to the channel please get in touch. :)
And as usual if you liked the video please like share and subscribe and help the channel grow.

1975 Honda Tl125 K2 Full Restoration Part 1
Hey Guys, As you have probably noticed already i have updated the channel name and logo. The channel is no longer Really Random Channel it is now RRC Restoration. Just incase you were wondering why the water marks in the video still say Really Random Channel. Enjoy.
You should change the patreon and instagram links in your older videos as well!
Thanks for reminding me, Ill get right on it ;)
I never watch TV anymore and I could watch you work for hours. You knew we have been looking forward to this one especially. That baby was built the same year as my high school graduation. At that time i was riding a Yamaha RD350 but I have always loved the Enduros and who doesn't love a Honda especially. Thanks for letting us into your world I appreciate it.
Thank you very much for your kind comment and for sharing your memories with us :)
Let me introduce myself. My name is Bert de Vries from the Netherlands. I hooked on to your channel and I am amassed by the beautiful work your doing. This bike is from 1975 and that frame is in outstanding condition. Almost no rust. You prepared your work very well. This is so important to achieve a preteen end result. So sorry if i make some mistakes in my English.
This kind of content is so important to me because I love to watch how people like you, rebuilding that good old stuff and make it look like new.
I did do such a project years ago but now, because of my injuries, I can't do it anymore. I am registered for euthanasia. I am 55 years of age and fighting horrible pain for about 16 years.
Your content my friend helps me to make it thru the day. I saw that video you painting the tank, and was amazed about the results. So I decided to hook you up and subscribed at your amazing channel.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us.
Until next time in another comment.
Sincerely Bert de Vries from Hillegom the Netherlands
I have commented on your video's before but must reiterate how much I enjoy your video's sans the goofy music and /or on going commentary that so many other videographers do. Your camera and editing work is great!
I have just started watching this series on your 1975 Honda 125 restoration project with interest, for I have four XL 250's and three or four engines. Your frame preparation is like I do, although time consuming, but rewarding. I have a friend, Mr Got Rocks, who would of sent it out to a powder coating guy and a few hundred dollars later, get a beautiful frame in return. (nothing wrong with that) but for me I ain't got no yenom to go that route.
Look forward to the rest of the series.
I cant be the only one that thought. "that socket set could do with a restoration"?? Stunning work cant wait to see the progress on this one.
thats a well used and loved set 🤘
I bought one of these New in 1976. Great little bike. Rode the wheels right off it. Did a total rebuild on it like this one in 1985. Made it like new for less than a third the cost of a new bike and about 30 hours of my cheap labor. Honda makes good products! Then and Now!
Thank you so much for these vids! I have a 76 TL that I’m currently restoring in Australia and your videos are super helpful. I’m hoping it turns out just as nice as yours. Cheers Corinne.
First bike i learnt to ride!!
Nice to meet you, I am Japanese
I respect your restore
C90 will also be pleased, I think that the sentence is strange as it is an interpreter
I like your channel
Thank you very much :)

I have never seen a swing arm come out that easily in my life - good job
these videos keep me going with my Honda H100 restoration, its super helpful to get an insight to the whole process. which makes my dream seem more and more attainable
Its almost like having a dad to watch and learn from haha
That frame is better than new right now Master, excellent 1st part, congratulations!
Thank you very much :)
amazing ive been away and when i come back really random is doing another big restoration. it just cant get any better
Thanks for the comment, I hope you enjoy the series :)
Great stuff, keep 'em coming. Always enjoy your calm, quite videos. Thanks for not playing 'elevator' music over them.
Just watching some of your old videos with being a new subscriber. I can't help but comment that when we're happy with something, we give it a little pat to say, we're on the same level, we get on and that's just gone to plan 👌👍
I know you've just started, but I want that bike. I owned a TL125S back in 1977 and I had so much fun on that bike. It would be great to own one again, plus seeing your previous restorations, it's going to look mint when it's done.
Im hoping to have it looking as though it just rolled off the production line at Honda ;)
the frame is in good shape no split welds etc so good starting point. cant wait to see the next episode but for now im going to catch up on the videos i missed while away. i know your thing is that we see only really your hands and the work but i and im sure others would like to see the person behind this and know you for who you are
Yeah, Tbh the frame being mint is the only reason the project is viable in the first place, i dont think its had a hard life just an unfortunate one haha. Hmmm who knows there may be a face reveal this year ;)
Me and my dad found a suzuki k90 from the 70's and it ended up like ur honda, but we worked for a few month and now it's back in its former condition ,just with different part.
And we watched ur vid, talking about your cub and how pro u was etc...
So yeah, good luck with the restoration.Hopr this sits nicely in ur bike collection.
Hey thanks for your comment :)
I have restored a fully seized Honda Vision Met in 50cc and would love to restore a geared 125 as well. But having no funds doesnt allow me to buy one to restore. I love the Honda's.
Looking forward to watching all of this restoration.
Big applause to see what you are doing.. Full of patience and passion.
Thank you very much :)
I am looking forward to the entire series because I have the opportunity to buy the 250cc version, of your 125, for $25! It's a complete 1974 bike.
So Glad to see this! I was so hoping the gas tank was a 'primer!' I would LOVE to locate a barn find '73 Honda SL 350 and do a frame out restore like you're doing! It'll happen. I'm a patient man! Thanks for sharing and please don't take too long between videos, lol! :-)
Another bike, cool, hope you have fun. My first bike was a cb125, that was the street version. Loved that bike, cant believe it was 44 years ago
The more I watch your videos, the more I appreciate your, "overdoing ". Lol. You have become one of my favorite restorers. I was wondering if there was some way I could get a few different stickers of your channel. I am collecting them from my favorite restoration channels. I put them on my toolbox as a reminder that restoration is possible miscellaneous pieces and ones life. Thabk you
I can't wait to see the final results of this restoration
Me too, i cant wait to see it in one piece rather than a million rusty bits haha!
@@RRCRestoration you're going to make the bike look brand new again
I'll try my best ;)
Picking up my restoration project today!. This video is like gold !... thanks for posting 😊
I've watched plenty of far east motorcycle restorations, with chaps doing a decent job with very little, but these from Random are real proper jobs...
Brilliant!
Been looking forward to another restoration.
Good stuff, I hope you enjoy this one as much as the last :)
Really Random Channel so far so good!
Absolute first class job on the frame it’s looking bloody amazing.
awesome job on the frame mate great work you are very talented thanks for sharing video
How could anyone give this video a dislike? Awesome Work Keep it up!
Thank you for your comment, Im glad you like the video :)
Jealousy

Thank you :)
What a treat! 😀👍
I watched the fuel tank video again. More amazing work!
This bike is going to be a thing of beauty ❤️
Thank you :)
Really going to enjoy this series. I have a 1975 CB125 that came to me in a similar state. Now I commute on it every day the weather allows. I have a CT90 too, so I really enjoyed your C90 restoration as well. Looks like you're off to a fantastic start!
Thank you for your comment, and im very glad you enjoy my content :)
Thumbs up if you are 55 and up ! Bring back wonderful memories to me.
Yeeeeessss!! A new restoration series, and another Honda - I love them small Hondas! 😍👍
Im glad to see your happy with my choice of restoration ;)
@@RRCRestoration I'm very happy indeed! 😀
Looking good young man, would love to see this next to the cub when you are finished.
will do ;)
FINALLY! so worth the wait. Keep them coming! My #1 favorite restoration channel.
Thank you very much :)
Another bike re-build? Oh joy! My favourite sort of rebuild, and with your standard of workmanship this will look great. I “liked” before watching as I know it’ll be good. Les
Thank you very much, I hope the series lives up to the expectation :)
@@RRCRestoration I'll 2nd Leslie's comment on how I liked as soon as the video opened! More than sure our expectations will be exceeded!
Trials Bikes are kind of rare as they weren't as popular as Moto-Cross/Enduro models. Only knew a couple of guys that rode Trials. But maybe that's was a USA thing over the EU?? Sure Honda shared parts(at least engine and running parts) with the other models. Could be quite the search to hunt down all the unique bits you'll need. Off to a good start as the frame looks great!! Looking forward to future episodes!
Hi, Your not wrong these bikes are incredibly rare here in the uk and it really is a massive struggle to find lots of the unique parts like the rear shock upper bolts and chain adjusters very difficult to find in the uk .
I love those videos!!!I enjoy all the time of it...most I love this expert commentary...
The reviews look brilliant I’m not going to watch it yet I’m going to see if I can wait for the rest of them (if I can that is ) after the last bike restoration I’m sure it’s worth the wait , keep up the good work and many more bike restorations to come 👍🏻
Sounds like a good plan i wish you luck and i look forward to seeing your comments on the last episode on whether it was worth the wait ;)
Keeps getting better and better mate .
Thank you very much, Part 2 coming next week should be good its suspension and wheel work ;)
About time, cant wait for the next ep. If the bikes as good a job as the tank was it’ll be ace. Had one of these in the 80”s great memories
Thanks
Another episode will be coming in a few days time ;) Oh dont worry the rest of the bike will be up to or beyond the standard of the tank ;)
Nice to see you in the comment section again :)
wis sukses koe siki yah jo....mantep lah kpan2 yen kober dolan maneh ngriki nggeh....
So relaxing watching your video 👍🏻
so good love the video all you need now is some soft eleveler music as a back round ambiance covering ASMR and restoration two bird one stone lol
YES!!! I absolutely love this channel, especially these motorcycle restorations. You make me want to film my little motorcycle restos. :)
Thank you very much, Im really glad you like my restorations :)
Dear god what have you gotten yourself into? I’m going to start praying for you right now!
I absolutely love the single cylinder Honda’s. Cb125s cl, ct, cub, NC50.
Lots of those in my state Oklahoma.
Haha tell me about it, in bits, lots of important parts missing and unknown if the engine runs or not! i couldn't get more of a challenging restoration if i tried haha!
Really Random Channel. Honda 125 are all pretty much the same right?
Are you planning to keep with points or cdi? Change to 12v? Or complete stock rebuild?
I think we are in for a treat here , brill.
This is going to be good! And it is inspiration as I work on doing a full restoration of an old Johnson 5 hp outboard.
Brilliant! I think that your channel is one of the best out there!
Thank you very much :)
If only I could sand that fast 🤣, interesting vid 👍
Great job! Can't wait to see the rest. Good luck!
Thank you, I cant wait to see it all back in one piece :)
I dont have a garage, so Im watching other people having fun.
Sweet! I've been looking forward to another perfect restoration by you. I love your channel' It's great and you do an absolute fantastic job! Love it!👌👍
Thank you very much im glad you like my videos :)
Omg yes a new video and new series these are the best ever top notch restoration :D
Hey, pleasure to see you in the comment section again ;) Hope you enjoy this series :)
@@RRCRestoration I will for sure and thank you :D!!
Already a classic restoration job!!
I've owned quite a few bike but I've had more fun a TL 125 than any other. mine was the first one with one piece head. Still got one. Jap import 125J
YaY Older moto hahahah I felt kinda dizzy on the spray part lol |Great Vid Again!!!
I'll bet this will look showroom ready wen it's done, i'm gonne follow this restoration thx :-)
Thats the plan i want it to look like its just rolled off the line at Honda :) Thanks for coming along for the ride :)
Cool bro I dig the tank so I'm sure that the bike will be awesome. You do good work.
Thank you :)
Been looking forward to this very much 👍
I hope you enjoy the series as much as i am :)
I really hope you have more luck with the carburetor than us. Our XL125 K2 (same engine and carburetor) is still not running smoothly and isnt reliable. We have tested 3 different carburetors, and have finally stayed in a fairly new Mikuni 26 carb since the small is at least mobile. Good luck!!
LOVE this format.
Well, here goes another long excited wait per episode!
Good Work My Bro🌹
God Bless You🌹
Love From Pakistan 🌹🇵🇰
Thank you :)
looking forward to episode 5. good work mate , your vids are really well put together. Think it might inspire me to get a project going (really really want a 70's DT175)
Thank you very much :)
Should of seen this coming with that fuel tank restoration earlier in the year!
I did try and buy the bike when i was asked to do the tank but he wasn't for selling it. I think he got tired of me asking if he has started restoring it yet every 5 mins so he caved in and sold it to me haha.
Really Random Channel haha. That’s a strategic harassment..
At last. I've been waiting for this. As usual, great job.
Thank you :)
hell yea looking forward to this series
Me too, Its going to be a good one :)
Roughly how many ep's will this be?
All right, now we are talking !! "Subscribed"
Thank you for subscribing, its very much appreciated :)
excellent as usual ....cant wait for pt 2
Thank you, Part 2 coming next week hopefully ;)
since you don't have a large blasting cabinet - may i respectfully recommend creating a temporary booth out of plastic, 1 x 2 timber and a fan to thru a home made filter and open blast? messy but it will get the job done.
Thanks for the suggestion ;)
As I know the series will be good, I already stuck my finger on the like before watching the video.
YEEees a new Motorcycle project. I love this channel. Best wishes from Germany.
Very good. I'm waiting for the continuation.
I love this stuff...can't wait for the next bit.
Glad you like it :) Next week for the next episode all going well ;)
I subbed after the C90 restoration, can't wait to see how this one turns out. =)
Thank you for subscribing :) I hope you enjoy this series as much as the C90.
Likewise.
At least this guy doesn't 'modify' his restorations.
Nice job! I'm currently restoring a TL 125 with a 175 kit. I have a second engine, if you need some parts or if you have any questions, contact me!
Hi, Thanks for your comment. Your timing is perfect as i actually could use a little help with a couple of details on my TL that i cant find anywhere. If you could contact me using the email address on my main channel page i would appreciate it :)
Old TL 125 is just cool !
Yeah they are a cool bike, I cant wait to see this one complete and running :)
Awesome! Saving another one with perfection
Thank you :) Cant wait to see it all in one piece :)
When you amp this video up by at least 1,5 the parts just goes everywhere :D
Another bike restoration. Sweet!!!
New episode coming next week hopefully ;)
In my world this is a wreck.
In yours, an opportunity to give a second life.
good to see you back mate
Thank you very much :) nice to see you again.
Aaaawwwww yis. Been looking forward to this! Can't wait for the next one already, it's a beaut
Thank you, im hoping to have the next episode ready for next week sometime ;)
At last bro a worthy of your skills and talent
Yes!!!!! Looking foward to this one mate
Its shaping up to be a good one ;)
wait for your next video good work
Nice work! You just got a new subscriber from 🇸🇪 Sweden!👍🏼
Thank you for your sub it is very much appreciated :)
Excellent. Much prefer a more original/correct painted finish on the frame as opposed to powder coat.
Good job, congratulations 👌.
Very good restoration 🔥🔥👍👍
Thank you :)
You are an artist !!!
Your too kind :)
Nice paint job
Thank you :)
If anything like the Honda Bogger this will be awesome hope ur next one is a Honda 250cc superdream those where my dodgy off-road bike back in the 90s
Haha funnily enough you should mention the superdream being your off road bike as back in the day me and my dad took a superdream engine and put it in a CR frame that was some kinda Frankenstein creation haha!

Хороший старт!
wooow great !!!!!
I can not wait to see part 2 !!!!
Another interesting video but I’m waiting for another bike restoration. Watching you work is an education in itself. How about building a bitza Austin 7? Loads of bits out there and the long winter evenings are nearly upon us,
Regards DG
Not too worry i have another project lined up, and yup its another bike ;) Just need to finish off the Subaru first haha
Bean waying for one to watch really nice great videos great content keep them coming
Thank you, Theres plenty more to come ;)
Any chance you can share how you do your bake cycle after painting?
I second this!
Great video series, as always.
