I've gotta be honest. Can you guys stop? Like literally delete your channel? You're killin me!!! Mostly killin my wallet :'( Thanks for always bringing neat games to my attention though.
This week I’ve been playing it and honestly, for the price, it is incredible. There are some mechanics that could be improved, such as those in the store, which are sometimes unclear. But overall, I’ve had a fun time with this game. It’s hard, but I don’t know why you don’t get tired of playing it. I’ll definitely recommend it
Hate to be a stickler, but it's not a deckbuilder at all. You always have all your "cards" drawn and they're on a cooldown. You don't draw from a shuffled deck or anything like that. Game is amazing by the way, deckbuilder or not. I played 100 hours in Early Access on Steam, and I'm getting into it again now with the finished game.
Bought this after enjoying the demo. Really enjoying it, especially with the early access discount. Good fun still after about 6-8 hours. Not sure how long it’ll last but got my monies worth so far
Pro Tip (something I didn't realize until I was dozens of hours into the game): You can rearrange your "locked-in" attacks in your queue without spending a turn. You can and should use this tactically. Want to use the sword first and the bow second, but the sword is still on a cooldown of one more turn? Just lock in the bow (using one turn), and then next turn the sword, and rearrange them for free (without using a turn).
If I had to name 3 types of game I don't usually like, "turn-based" "rogue-lite" and "deck builder" would ALL be up there! So this games facing an uphill struggle with me... I'm tempted to buy it... it might cure my aversion to 3 different genres at once!
Ironically I have been looking for a new rogue like with a different idea. I have my eyes on card en ciel in October but I’m definitely gonna check out the dem on this. I love your guys channel so many games I wouldn’t know of or have been unsure of that you guys had covered. If there’s one negative I find to your channel is my damn backlog 😂😂😂. Thanks again guys.
Replying to myself with an update I guess (can’t edit or phone won’t let me) Tried the demo last night played for almost 3 hrs lol. It doesn’t look like a lot at first glance but there is a cool depth to strategy. I was worried about having to collect new tiles each run but it feels almost like a poker or card game in the respect that each run is like starting with a brand new hand dealt to you. Definitely picking this up when I can. (I’d like to pick it up right away but I’m on a tight budget and looking for specific games to go on sale too. If I don’t see one of those specific games on sale I will be getting this this week.
You guys should check out the new prince of Persia the lost crown dlc that dropped yesterday. It’s great and there’s a lot there to sink your teeth into for just 5$USD.
Already preordered zelda, epic mickey, bought physicals of balatro and selfloss... watched your review of plucky squire and bought that and now want this too... swear I'll be declaring bankrupt this month 😆
Going through Pixel Art Fatigue so this isn't overly appealing right now but I'm thankful for the review to refer back to when that feeling passes. Thanks Glen. Cheers SwitchUp!
The game looks very cool and original but man…..I had to buy The Plucky Squire but I haven’t played it yet. I blame you guys Switch Up…!! Thankfully I took your advice on buying Souldiers. While the loading times take me back to the PS1 era, I am loving the hell out of this game! Master difficulty is punishing, yet so rewarding and I can’t force myself to play The Plucky Squire until I finish this game with all 3 classes. Thank you!!!❤❤❤
If you like indies the switch is the place be. I have many friends that don’t understand how cool it is to just chill down by a fireplace or lie down before bed and enjoy a good game before falling asleep. Awesome review. Mr. backlog sends his regards.
@@prodbyTORPES it’s not really a console experience +all the battery issues if you go beyond “indies”. It’s a matter of opinion and preference of course
I always see comments about how people are sick of rogues but man it's mostly what games I have played the last few years and I am loving it. Finally got around to Atomicrops after getting it on sale. Great game and this one looks like another one to add to the collection probably on sale. Yes some rogues are basically copy paste but others are the best games that are being made IMO. Hell even some of them that aren't original at all but do everything right are still great and much better than AAA. They remind me of the games that got me into gaming.
Clicking on this video and punching my palm like a mob enforcer ready to throw down if SwitchUp got this wrong. Fortunately, my man knows ball. This game kicks so much ass. My only disagreement is about the music, it's good and memorable. The music for the shop between areas 2 and 3 is different than any of the other shops and goes unreasonably hard for no reason. I love it.
At first glance I wasn't super interested in this one, but after giving it another shot I do think it's pretty darn cool and worth a wishlist at the very least
Picked this up yesterday and haven’t been able to put it down! Love how you can trick the enemies into attacking each other 😉. Also is it just me or does the gameplay have a hint of Into the Breach about it? Nice review Glen!
This month has been awesome for Indies. This, and Wild Bastards has really eaten into my time... Super sad that Core Keeper on Switch got delayed because that game is A M A Z I N G.
This looks so great! I loved Pirates Outlaws, and this looks like the Ninja version! Now they just need a Jedi deck building rogue lite and you’ve got the set!
I actually knew about this thanks to Reddit I wishlisted in Steam because of the idea. Although correction I didn’t actually but i did wishlisted it now
Great review Glen. I disagree with respect with the value though it should be 19. 12 quid is nothing for a high production roguelike/lite that can keep one occupied for hundreds of hours. That being said the rest of the review was spot on.👍
Yeah, value is difficult. It can keep you occupied for a long, long time (and it will for me) but some may find that repetitive. I try to find a score that reflects both trails of thought. Glen
Took mw about 100 hours to get through the early access version, meaning beating day 6 with all 4 characters. There's a fifth character now, and it continues after day 6.
Been playing Cardpocolypse which was on sale and a unique card playing game/ deck building game. It's more like hearthstone than this one. This one reminds me like slay the spire.
Only problem I've had with this game is it feels quite basic and limited in a way at the start, both overall and in each run. You don't have that many different weapons/attacks and the ones you do have are fairly similar. There isn't a lot of depth to the combat since it's just moving sideways and turning around. Add on the pretty basic power-ups or trinkets you can buy that doesn't really change things up significantly and you quickly find that runs tend to blend into each other. Upgrades to your weapons are also fairly tame, upping the damage, adding an effect, or reducing the cooldown (or the opposite for a different benefit) doesn't really excite me too much. I know it's a different gamestyle but Slay the Spire easily made each run feel fresh and new because the cards gave a LOT of variety and the trinkets you found drastically changed up how your deck worked. I almost get the impression that if this game was on a 5x5 grid or something, there would have been more depth there for a greater variety of weaponry and movement. As it stands the game is well worth the price, only if you're hoping for more than 10-15 hours of content you'll like burn out. The different characters you get also don't change anything at all, only your passive movement ability. In terms of difficulty it's about average, easier than the likes of Hades but only because each run feels shorter. Overall I'm happy I bought it but I was expecting a little more. Even as I unlock a large quantity of new moves and abilities between runs, none really make me think of cool build ideas. Everything just moves you, hits a specific tile, or maybe debuffs the enemy a bit. Shogun Showdown 2 if they corrected mistakes and improved on things would be legendary, I think. This game feels like a promising first step towards something great.
Switchup. Please try to review beyond galaxy land. It's coming out really soon and it looks absolutely amazing but nobody is talking about it and I'm afraid its going to be one of those games that gets burried because of zelda and the switch 2 stuff. It just seems like it's not getting any PR. There are a handful of really really small UA-cam channels that have played the demo available to reviwers but that's it.
I played the demo and God I hate this game. Maybe my brain can't understand the gameplay. But I found it unplayable and done of the most unfun I've had in years
Are all reviewers just bad at video games? This guy's dying every five minutes? I beat the first Shogun with less than 10 runs and I'm by no means great at strategy games. This is not a hard game. I'm starting to think being terrible at games is a requirement for getting hired as a game reviewer.

Yes. You can also remove a tile from the queue without spending a turn which is occasionally useful strategically.
