Funny story, Merle Eddington a pro shooter in the 90’s 2000’s last shooting for the US Army Team. Merle’s right hand index finger missed the end digit. RO’s that didn’t know him would often yell finger when he was moving because they thought his finger was on the trigger. Many a reshoot he got for that. Many of us considered taking our digit off because he had blazingly fast splits😳😂😂😂😎😎

Damned good Refresher Course. I'm a skilled old retired Infantryman who is an Expert with pistols, revolvers, rifles, and machine guns, but I still need to train. You can always learn. Use less lips and more ears.

IDk...your first rule just seems way too complicated. I still like: *Only point a firearm at something your are willing to immediately destroy.* It feels like it does not take as much explanation as the different consequence levels. But hey...differing minds are free to differ.
But you're unwilling to destroy what you're dry firing at, yet you point a gun at it because it's a low consequence direction. So you do the thing we're saying.

I think that kind of thin-slicing is unhelpful. For the VAST majority of people, teaching them that there IS a consequence to the gun going off, and consciously choosing the LEAST consequence direction at all times, is much more proactive and helpful. :)

First off, this was a pretty reasonable overview of the firearms safety rules. Not trying to start a fight here. But I'm not entirely sure what your rule 4 is. And to get in the weeds a little bit, these rules are basically Col. Cooper's rules just jumbled up. Why not standardize the same order? And why disparage his rules and then proceed to use essentially 3 of the 4 he came up with?
