  • Hi there fellas, here I go again with another one of these 5 basslines compilations, this time going after some tunes of one of the most acclaimed bands of rock history: Pink Floyd. Although it is well known that some of the band´s basslines were played by their legendary guitarist David Gilmour in the studio, most of the bass work landed on the hands of the guy who also was probably the biggest "head" of the group, that is Roger Waters.
What is played on these videos is not meant to be taken as "carbon copy" covers of the songs, but mostly jam alongs respecting the general spirit of the compositions and essentially outlining the place that the bass has on them. Nevertheless they should be enough to get you going in the general style of the band.
As always, feel free to leave your thoughts on the comment section and in case you found this video useful or liked it, subscribe and give it a thumbs up, if I see this type of content actually get some traction from the audience I will consider doing it more often that not so let me know! Thanks a lot for watching and see you on the next video with more music.

Just like any bass video, *use headphones or good speakers for a better listening experience* . If you like this type of videos subscribe for more, thanks for watching!
PD: the "Let There Be More Light" riff is tabbed on the E string by mistake on the video, but it should be read on the G string. (my absolute bad, I just noticed this after the upload :( )

This was great, man, Floyd is one of my all-time favourite bands and they helped me get into music, not to mention Roger Waters wrote some damn good bass lines

@@GabrielNardinMusic No problem, keep it up. What kind of bass is that, it looks like a Fender Jazz Bass but I don't think I recognize the headstock

@@andrewpappas9311 It is a typical Jazz Bass model indeed (scale, mic configuration, etc) just not a Fender one. I bought it used about 10 years ago and frankly I am not sure which brand is it yet. I liked how it played and sounded and never bother to ask to the previous owner, lol.

Gabriel Nardin Music Gotcha, still sounds great though. I also don’t mean to sound nitpicky but the intro or Let There Be More Light is done on the G string, not the low E but props for including an early Floyd tune. If you do another one of these I’d love to see Interstellar Overdrive, that riff definitely rips

@@andrewpappas9311 Yes! I was told about the mistake in another comment so I cleared that out in my pinned comment, sadly I didn´t noticed when I edited the TAB. Nevertheless it´s played on the correct string, just a horrible mistake on the TAB 😆. Thanks for the suggestions as well.

You just got another subscription. Thank you for uploading these great videos. The camera is well fixed so that you can be seen playing easily and the tabs are hugely helpful. Combine that with featuring songs from incredible bands like The Cure and Pink Floyd and you have yourself a wonderful recipe for hungry bass players who are eager to learn. Keep up the great work! Very inspiring. Great channel. 👍👍

Thank you very much for the words! These ones take a bit more to edit than the regular not-tabbed covers / short videos (that is why I may not make them as often as I would like), but I will definitely keep uploading more of these whenever I can so feel free to come back then. Have fun playing!

@@GabrielNardinMusic I finally got my first bass guitar and discovered you when searching for tutorials on a few songs by The Cure. As a total newb, I have so, so much to learn. I've been trying to teach myself via UA-cam instructors and have only subscribed to a few channels (Scott's Bass Lessons & Bass Buzz). There was something missing though... I wanted to try to learn how to play some riffs from artists who inspired me to want to get a bass in the first place. So, I searched for bass tutorials on some songs that I wanted to learn and your vids popped up. I'm so glad that they did. You have since become a household/living room regular, lol. If you ever have time to do some vids w/bass riffs from Alice In Chains: Jar of Flies album (like Rotten Apple, Nutshell, Don't Follow) that would be sick. 😉

@@MurderTechnique I am actually a big fan of Alice In Chains so that is great suggestion. I even tried a full one-man-band cover of "Nutshell" way back in the past playing all the instruments and singing. The sound quality is not the best since I was yet learning to record myself but it was a nice experience for me (the video is still on my channel as well in case you want to have a look at it) And also made a bunch of guitar based covers of AiC. But it´s a great idea, I might tackle some stuff from that band with the bass too.

The G string. I made a mistake while doing the TAB and realized about it after uploading the video. I made a clearing comment and pinned it but of course that doesn´t fully make it up so it´s good to ask :)

Sure, go ahead. Just make sure to give source credit to this channel mentioning it when you use it, as it´s usually done in compilations of UA-cam videos. Good luck with the film and if you don´t mind link me to it when it´s done so I can see it as well, I would be interested in watching it! Greetings.

And I think it´s 100% correct tempo-wise since it´s played exactly on the 3rd beat of the 7/4 metric/time signature that song has. Greetings and thanks for watching!

Just an unpopular opinion: his bassis line are poor.... Chris Squire and others progressive rock bassists are way way better...

    • @GabrielNardinMusic
      @GabrielNardinMusic  19 днів тому +1

I assume you meant to say Chris Squire, and yes... Most rock fans would agree that Chris was a more skilled bass player than Roger and many other famous bassists. That doesn´t take the importance of the bass in the tracks covered in the video
