Ed Koch got a round of applause and for good reason. Best mayor New York City ever had.
Yes. Much better than those hot messes John Lindsay and Abe Beame
Better than Bill de Blasio?
nah that's Mayor LaGuardia
Unless you were black or gay
@@egala005 A lot better than Bloomberg.
You know RR was watching this and laughing his a$$ off. As people, they really liked each other.
Both Ron and Ed knew how to play the game of politics.
I lived in New York when Koch ran against Mario Cuomo for Governor.
Handbills began appearing saying, "Vote for Cuomo, not the Homo".
It was said that Mario's son, Andrew, came up with that idea.
Koch wasn't perfect, but under him, NYC flourished.
Glad I lived there at that time.
Cuomo's a piece of well you know
Shit. I'm sorry.
Correction: that slogan was used in the mayoral primary in 1977, not when Koch was running for governor.
"How am I doin'?". It starts off very well!
I was there May 14, 1983 Saturday night live 40 years ago in the audience last show of the 82-83 season.
I miss that man. My favorite politician and mayor of all time. Loved living in the city during all of his terms. Great man.
This is the moment Walter White became Heisenberg.
I wonder if SNL will be uploading the musical performances? I’d love to see the Dexys Midnight Runners performance in full HD
Ed Koch, Ronald Reagan, and a hundred cops walk into a bar…
I wonder if John mulaney has seen this
Imagine a modern New York politician going on SNL and willingly spouting out joke after joke exclusively at his own expense. What a guy.
Imagine what he would have said about Trump.
He's liked W, so who knows.
@@GodfatherXXI but he and Trump rather infamously butted heads on a number of things.
@@ronburgundy244 yes, and in fact, most NY politicians knew he was a joke, but as he got older, he got so much right wing. But it’s all just speculation in the end.
I personally believe he would have supported him. Hillary wasn't a popular character.
@@benkleschinsky I think it's because Trump is a native New Yorker and Hillary impersonated one.
He would have been great if he went into entertainment
Brilliant !
proper introduction...the Honorable Ed Koch
