This conversation wasn't overdue, you finally talking about the A's again was. Glad you're finally doing it again; that's the highlight of this channel.
Interesting interview...and as a lifelong resident of the Sacramento area I will never attend an A's game in Sacramento. I've been a fan since 1968, but the team belongs in Oakland. I grew up being an Oakland A's fan and the thought of them not being there has turned me off to MLB completely.
I am not an Oakland citizen, nor a fan of the A's. But I can empathize with you more than a typical A's fan because this silliness between a city and a spoiled millionaire has not only caused you the loss of your childhood baseball team but your very livelihood! Sad. This interview was awesome. To hear to "old media" vets talk about how new media needs to step up the quality to be more like old media is something that I have always thought but never said out loud. I am also a former radio & tv person. I was on air in radio, and also a TV Director back in the day working in Sports News for a regional sports network. Today, as a retiree, I run an Internet Radio Station and a UA-cam Channel, and I use my old media training on both. Good to see I'm in good company!
I have the sense that Fisher would have stayed in Oakland, but that Rob Manfred told him, “John, we’ve given you a gazillion dollars in revenue sharing, and so you owe us and you will be doing what we tell you to do with the A’s. We’re yanking the A’s away from the Bay Area.” I think Manfred is in control of the A’s.
I am really enjoying your channel. I'm from Ontario so I'm a Jays fan but I was 10 years old back in 1992 when we first one a world series and loved Rickey Henderson as a player. So as someone who grew up with the rivalry as a kid its sad that ownership has done this (and people here in Toronto complain about an ownership that pays for renovations to the Skydome). Keep up the great work on the channel Brodie.
An outstanding… meeting? Interview? Discussion? Chat? You both are quite right to have cut your ties to that team, but to keep following the situation because it’s sooooo newsworthy each step of the way, every meeting, interview, breaking news, letters to the public… I think it’s very fascinating that both the A’s and the Rays are simultaneously in deep messes, which is also preventing MLB from not just growing, but from just operating normally. They are even having difficult times getting new stadiums or selling teams in routine transactions. And since MLB gobbled up Minor League Baseball, its affected them as well for spring training and Class A and Class AAA, while less obviously messing with Class AA, Independent and college ball, and the Mexican League. Thanks for your heartfelt discussions. I greatly enjoyed it, and I think you both should regularly do video chats on various subjects.
As if anyone cares about my opinion, and probably nobody does, I've been an Oakland A's fan almost since I came out of my mother's womb. I was born in 1966, and the A's moved here in 1968. I've been going to Oakland A's games as long as I can remember. I've been a season ticket holder for 19 years. It's ripped my baseball heart out that they're moving. I've kept a few t-shirts, some of the caps I've either bought or were given away as promotions, some of the bobbleheads that were given away. But, I will never go to Sacramento, much less Las Vegas, to see an A's game because I will not give John Fisher one penny to help build his stadium in Las Vegas. I will buy anything A's-related to help him either. I'll go to see them when they play against the Giants, in fact just today I bought tickets for my wife and I when the A's play in May. I'll always have love in my heart for the A's, more than I can for what I feel regarding John Fisher.
I have to say that the reason why I found your UA-cam channel Brodie and then Casey’s UA-cam channel was because of your guys coverage of the A’s/JF’s lack of transparency as to why they couldn’t get a new stadium built in the alameda county area. So thank you to both of you for being so helpful and really transparent about this whole situation with the A’s.
So refreshing to know that we're all living on the other side of "Give a shit Mountain." Really good to know its not just me. The thought of hosting another A's themed podcast or talking about them on the radio is 100% off the radar for me now too. Good to see you both here, together. Even better to see you smiling, regardless. Best of luck on "next" and Happy New Year, Casey & Brodie to you and your families.
Deciding what to do with all my bobbleheads has been tough. I put most in a box in the garage. I left out a few pieces with special meaning to my dad and I. That's only loosely A's related, more so related to my relationship with my dad. Not sure what to do with everything in the garage going forward.
Fish and Kaval have been lying to us A's fans for years. I was in Vegas April 2019 and was wearing my A's hat, and the shuttle driver said, you know they're moving down here and going to build the Rio site. #FJF
Remove Mount Davis. Turn the coliseum back to what it was. Bring in a triple a team. Block off the upper decks. Look at what Richmond did to their triple a stadium to make it ready for the double a team they currently have.
The Athletics will play on grass in Sacramento next season, with Major League Baseball yielding to concerns from players about the risks of an artificial turf surface in a city where summer temperatures often rise above 100 degrees. The triple-A stadium into which the A’s are moving, Sutter Health Park, currently features a grass field. However, with the A’s and the triple-A Sacramento River Cats expected to share the stadium next season, MLB planned for artificial turf because it did not believe grass could remain robust all summer with either the A’s or River Cats playing on it every day. The league and the players’ union recently reviewed an assessment that concluded a grass field could remain viable all summer, even if not necessarily in prime condition.
Thank you Brodie for posting this, and for Casey consenting to the conversation. I hope both of you do these conversations on some kind of regular basis. I have a question, Brodie: you mentioned pitching all your A’s gear. I’ve kept some of mine to wear as a protest to what is happening to the A’s and as a way to honor their legacy in Oakland. But my fandom is in free agency. I don’t know yet if I will shift my allegiance to another MLB team (it won’t be the Giants) or whether I will give up on MLB entirely, concluding it is a corrupt and incompetent institution. I’m interested in your thoughts, Brodie. Will you attach yourself to another team in 2025? Or will you be unaligned moving forward?
Future broadcast team for the Oakland Ballers - Pratt & Brazil! Or Brazil & Pratt! (You guys fight over the billing.)...Seriously though, you guys collaborate well. The Orphan A's are a dumpster fire. They're Sac's problem now. Let them deal with the stench. I feel for them...NIL! NIL! NIL! You guys really, really, really need to dig into this because there isn't really anybody, even at the national level, who is really versed and in front of this topic. There is an agency in Denver called Icon Source that is writing NIL contracts for HIGH SCHOOLERS! Nobody gets it! This doesn't just stir the pot in collegiate sports, but it restructures the entire landscape of sports economics. It is very possible that, within my lifetime, the plantation dynamics of pro sports will be broken (MLB first down the drain), fans will not only own the teams in the future, but they will also determine how much players get paid. Crowdfunding. And this plays into the bright future of independent baseball in that players can control their destiny. I've floated the idea before of a California-based independent league based around the Ballers and Highwheelers to stop, at least in Cali, the extortion of Baseball (MiLB now controlled by MLB), and constant threats of relocating teams and stadium drama. With NIL players can play where they want since they bring a large portion of their compensation with them via corporate and public sponsors - STARTING IN HIGH SCHOOL! Fans no longer have to carry the entire burden of paying obscenely overpriced contracts. No more transcon flights to the East Coast. They can go home to their families every night, still being paid well. All for a bus ride or drive in their own vehicle to an average of three hours. More intimate ballparks that can be shared by multiple teams in a region. That aspect alone makes ticket prices go down to the point that families will return to the ballpark in droves. Better, cheaper, and more diverse food for the fans. Far, far cheaper merch...Many fans, myself included, absolutely HATE MLB for their continued mafia behavior, and it's high time we took them behind the woodshed. NIL is the tool to do this. It has already crushed the de facto slavery operation that has been the NCAA for a century...Change, guys! Get ahead of it, or get left behind. The system that the two of you both worked for is fading into oblivion. It was forward-looking for both of you to have gotten into social media when you did. Now keep it going!...Godspeed fellas... iconsource.com/
I 100% agree that there's space for more of a discussion on NIL, but I disagree that it's a panacea to solve all of sports. LeBron, in addition to his $40 million/yr Lakers salary, earns tens of millions selling shoes, soda, Draft Kings, Hulu, and other things. NIL is how amateur athletes can make money from their potential popularity.
I never said that NIL was a panacea, or that every starry-eyed kid would make Lebron or Ohtani numbers. My point was that a realistic kid, who wanted to play baseball - for a realistic team with realistic fans - could now do so with the portability of NIL, and have a far better life than playing for MLB under the auspices of their MiLB plantation system...
Hey Brodie, for memoribilia you're throwing away. May I suggest that you donate to give away instead of throwing away? There are Oakland fans who may be glad to take those out of your hands.
Oakland - Longtime Bay Area media professional and East Bay native, Casey Pratt, is joining Mayor Sheng Thao's team as the new Chief of Communications for the Mayor's Office, effective immediately. How long did that last?
Yeah, the turd sandwich is apropos. Convincing fans to come out and support a team that wants to leave Northern CA, to get fans to spend money in the service of moving the Athletics to Las Vegas? Turd sandwich, with port-o-let sauce, indeed.
What a moron Casey was, thinking that the useless tool Tao was ever going to do anything. She can't even complete a sentence. Now he conveniently says nothing. He's as dumb as she is

Didn’t expect to watch the whole podcast but you and Casey have great chemistry! 🔥
When Netflix puts out a documentary about the A's - these NEED to be the first two calls. Appreciate you both very much.
Casey and Brodie should team up for a morning drive sports show or even a podcast. I'd listen in during baseball and football seasons
I appreciate both of you guys! Oakland forever! FJF!
This conversation wasn't overdue, you finally talking about the A's again was. Glad you're finally doing it again; that's the highlight of this channel.
Good luck to you and Casey. You both will excel in this new media era
Casey and Brodie don't ever stop
thank you for continuing to shine the light on this nonsense
For all those on the west coast--Breakfast with Brodie.
FINALLY!!!!! 🎉
I'm from Sacramento
We'll show out at every game and chant Sac Ra Mento 👏👏👏👏👏

Already there. Go Bears!

Another bitter A’s fan here. Well said at the end.
When Michael Lewis writes the Moneyball sequel, these two are going to be critical sources for the manuscript.
Who cares about Michael Lewis? The guy was a conman with the first Moneyball.
