I had a problem with the alternator voltage fluctuating between 12.4 and 13.1. I tried adding the extra ground wiring from battery "-" to the engine and it worked like magic. Now I'm stable between 13.5 and 13.8 at idle rpm. THANK YOU! (Astra H 1.7 CDTI 101 HP)
Worked for me from 13.2 jumped on 13.8 with extra ground wire next step is your + wire video im gonna add one + extra and that should be bulletproof combo fpr my bmw e46 electronic thank you for helping me
Morning today doing this thing with online purchased 25mm size of grounding wire and actually is quite worked on my chery QQ. My QQ has 140 Ampere spec of alternator(upgraded from the original), 45 Ampere for the battery(original spec of factory). Before install this grounding method, the voltage got at 14,0 V-14,1 V(idle rpm) And 13,7 V-13,8 V(idle rpm+AC). After install this grounding method, the voltage got at 14,1 V-14,2 V and sometimes 14,3 V(idle rpm). And 13,8 V-14,0 V(idle rpm+AC). thanks🙂
This , and a simply cleaning of the positive cable conntector on the alternator solved my starting problems by cold engine. Charging voltage is növeli 14.3V and the starter motor is running much powerfull! Thanks a lot!
This is a nice video showing how adding an earthing strip can help. But cleaning the terminals and replacing the old worn earth cable would be better. What is very annoying is why you need the radio volume on at all?
You might be able to increase the voltage a little more by directly grounding the alternator to the battery "-" post, less resistance than grounding it through the engine. Anyways great video proving grounding an electrical system is beneficial! :)
thanks a million after watching this done same test to my zafira 1.9cdti 150bhp it dose solved my problem my genitive wire is getting hot after starting the car and voltage never risen over 11.7 as electrician wants to replace the whole battery wiring and quote me £280 again thank you so much for making that detailed video.
I run a big 4 it completes the circuit front battery delete with two 00 awt power and grounds to the battery bank in the trunk 15 volts cold and 14.8 hot with diode rectifiers 1 amp or 3 amp you can achieve mid 15s or higher depending on the application. My goal is 15.8 cold and 15.5 hot for I run yinglong cells. Nice video
Hi, nice video, I have astra g, replaced battery and still hitting 13.9v obd while winter driving with lights and heating. Is this normal charging alternator voltage or should I be worried? Thank you
I've had a similar problem on my astra 1.9 with the voltage drop on the battery and the battery negative terminal was getting hot. Now I have instaled a ground strap bettween the engine and the chasis ground point and charging voltage is ok now, but now the positive on the battery is getting hot. Do you have any idea why? Thank you. Your videos are very useful. Keep up with the good work
I had a same problem on my Fiat Punto my positive cable on battery was getting extremely hot. I cleaned connectors and still same issue. To solve the problem I had to replace positive battery cable all the way to the alternator.
It woked for me too. Days getting colder car crank was slower and one day car was dead. I charged battery overnight. Afterthat car was smooth start. Reading with running car was 13v. I suspected to check alternator brushes, but found this video. Sandpapper, little cleaning and i have 14v now iddling.
I hope u respond knowing this video is old but anyhow wen i connect the positive battery side and positive post on alternator on just idle i get .05-.07 i rev engine and it goes to .18-.25 so do i have a problem on positive side or no? Cause when checking voltage im getting 10.-9.vlts whether im checking just battery pos&neg or neg battery to pos on alt i kno its brand new battery that sat for long time in back seat never charged and after swapping out what i thought to be bad alternator and battery with junkyard alternator and this new battery i had but never installed those are my reading on my meter any thoughts oh and neg battery to alt housing at idle is .07 and stays .07 wen engine is revd please help
Would you not just replace the ground strap on the vehicle rather than clutter up the engine bay with a new one. Handy way of checking if you have a defective ground strap.
Hey friend, I tried this to my zafira, nothing happened with the battery, it remains at 13.2V on idle, with everything switched off. I saw that you have other cables, black and red, connected to the "-" in the back, what are those?
Should route that strap to the rear of your alternator case. Check out big three or big four grounding and 12v power upgrades. Car stereo hacks "try" to improve vehicular wiring.
Interesting - I'll give this a go on my Astra H that's only giving me 13.4V. Oh you should have cleaned that lug on the engine you connected to to get the best connection. Oh and as others said annoying music!
Hi everyone would anyone know what could be causing this fault code to flag up P0621-01 Generator Lamp L Control Circuit Malfunction on a Zafira B 1.9 cdti? The battery light stays on when i first start the car but if i shut the engine off straight away and then start it up again the battery light will go out as normal? ive replaced the battery so i know its not that and ive test the alternator and its charging fine? Any ideas what it could be?
That's what messed my voltage up. I have a sound system, without any load my voltage was well over 14 volts. The amp brings my voltage down so decided on the big 3. Disconnected battery. and did the alternator (+) to the battery(+) connected terminal to battery post and it sparked crazy, melting part of my post and terminal, removed the added cable from alternator to battery, turned on the car and now it charges at 11.95v without any load. Any ideas on what it may be?
If the ground cable doesn't help, you need to add a (+) cable : ua-cam.com/video/3IQy_cYPVJs/v-deo.html

you're welcome, buddy

Thanks man i have the same problem. What is the name of this cabel?
Did your power steering stopped working cuz of this?
No.
@@fixanddrive ty for answering, so ive got bad pump

You surely need a postive cable added: ua-cam.com/video/3IQy_cYPVJs/v-deo.html

will this increase headlights' brightness and/or other electrical parts in older cars? is this same as adding grounding kits?
it won't
the problem is i started car and the charge voltage shows 11.4V and if i stop car battery voltage is 12.2
what might be the problem with car
thumbsdown for the music
Be careful with the lenght of the strap ....what you should have done is to find the chassis ground and clean it firstly.......

is it ok to connect in other ground body?
How did you get that diagnosis screen on the display?

Hey man, would a simple wire work, dont have any aligator clips or such, but i have a dececnt ammount of insolated wires which are relativley thick
MisterBlack83 as long as there’s no rust or corrosion
You need the big 3 upgrade did it to my 2011 Buick LaCrosse

Just need a stabilizer kit, get more ground wires to the chassis balance your power
Does this also work on 1.7cdti
It works on any car
Omg that's the most annoying music ever!
yea shouldn't that be like 14.5?
It should, yet any result above 14.1 is acceptable. That's why I added an extra positive cable: ua-cam.com/video/3IQy_cYPVJs/v-deo.html
Good video, but that music was too loud and annoying
Still alternator problem.. low charging
Frieght harbor has a tester for battery n alternator for 10 bucks could be your alternator is going out
Why would you be playing this God Damn music when you should be talking to me. Thumbs down at 17
Good video .but come on why the stupid music .
Hate this music over videos you want to concentrate on
My Vectra Z19DT have 14,1 ;14,2 V
13,5V is poor alternator voltage!!!
In Opels it is fantastic.
@@fixanddrive right! My also fluctating and unstable, 13,1 - 13,7V...
Down voted because bad music.
What the hell with the music
fake!
what do you mean, mate?
I'm just trollin. I didn't mean nothin by it. :)
