Curiosity got the better of me from watching this vidjayo and I ordered a couple of ratchets from Nepros. What a cool company. I got a very polite and courteous from Noriko Tani confirming the receipt of my order. It also included 'sincere apologies if our delivery takes more time than your expectation' .... due to... 'After the movies produced by famous UA-cam released on his channel, we have been receiving a lot of orders beyond our past experiences since last month, and our shipments need some more time than usual now.'
I love how much care AvE puts into unboxing these beautiful tools. Respect where respect is due. The way Japanese put their best effort regardless of job/task is so enviable. I wish we had that mindset in the Western world.
I actually inherited a ton of old school Snap On tools, Canadian and USA. Also inherited a Snap On tool chest that's about as old. All my Grandfather's from when he was a Buick technician and when he started working from home. Also a some Proto and other high end stuff. Still works amazing, they just don't make tools the same anymore. Glad to be a third generation mechanic and still using the same tools 3 generations later.
Well that’s just great! Now i’ve got even less chance of getting my Christmas present now you’ve let the cat out of the bag and the whole world knows what a beautiful tool looks like . Out of stock indefinitely. Thanks a bunch Uncle B.
Just low stock. I just ordered from them and got an email from an actual person apologizing for any delays, and that confirmed that this video and the previous have led to a gigantic spike in orders. They are upping production in response though so dont fret just yet
Japanese tools are a treat. I love my Mitutoyo calipers so much, I could play with them all day. I even bought an IP67 rated one just so I can play with it in the shower.
Jezus, The Kyoto Tools Company website is like a 30 minute worm hole. Navigated it with the help of google translate. The lacquer painted ratchets are absolutely gorgeous, and there is a walnut tool chest that I would happily use as coffee table or a night stand, but the $4,000 price tag is pretty staggering. If we ever get out the other side of this virus deal and you get back across the pond the website looks like they offer factory tours, that would be a great video.
Those lacquer ratchets are amazing but at just shy of $2100 American doll-hairs I'd be reluctant to actually use it for fear of dropping it on the concrete floor.
I lost an hour of my life trying to learn to read Japanese on the KTC site as well... But if anyone is really interested in buying Nepros tools they actually have no-nonsense site in English, with US dollar prices (they're on the steeper side, certainly, but nothing really outregous) and very reasonable shipping costs.
Honestly, the fact that this guy is talking about tools which I'm interested in is the icing on the cake. He could be talking about opera and I'd still listen just to get a taste of the eloquent way he puts things.
As always you are correct, I have a couple of snap on old school spanners. They are my go to tools, even though I have newer ones. Only people who use hand tools every day will truly appreciate the quality tool that sits in your hand.
Love the Robert Service in there! My dad used to read to me from the Collected Works, and over forty years later I can still remember almost all of The Cremation of Sam McGee.
There’s a nice sense of symmetry with the Nepros tools and the Cy Swan knife. I bet the craftsman who made that ratchet has a lot more in common with Cy than you would think at first glance.
Did I also see a 9.5 input on the end of that breaker Johnson bar? That's a handy feature for that extra ooga-duga/ semi flexible extension for a ratchet
I don't like NEW snap on combo wrenches. They bend and break more often than not. I will only use proto and williams for box wrenches. I still have snap on sockets and ratchets. Even still, I have old school husky stuff that has stood the test of time like no other.
that ratchet with the square drive looks super cool. as a fella who is more into the electronicals and the computers, i think those tools are just beautiful!
A Johnson Bar (also J-bar) is a tapered, 6' - 8' piece of stout oak carcass fitted, at the wide end, with a hard forged steel wedge and a pair of solid steel wheels. The steel and the oak are made together with vigor. Used (in conjunction with a 200lb gorrilla) for getting a pick when shifting pallets and machinery.
I usually use the packaging tools come in as holders for the tools, provided it's suitable. I bought some cheap Arcan sockets on Amazon and they came with little plastic trays that hold them nicely. Better than cheap socket holders from Hazard Frought.

I agree about the old Snap On wrenches. I have a set of standard wrenchs I bought over 30 years ago as a long lad. I've used the so much the chrome is worn off of the 3/4 wrench the copper is showing threw.

Quite nice. It’s amazing that some tool companies don’t name themselves Twisted Knuckle Buster Tool Company with some tools on the market today. These, though, very very nice! Very stylish Anniversary knife. Thanks for sharing!
Hows the quality? I bought some starett rulers and squares but the finish levels just seems poor for something made in the US of A, sadly. Both the ruler and the squares have such sharp edges that I can barely use them without gloves. The country of origin is "subject to change" so maybe that's the reason.
Love Japanese tools and would love to own that especially after many of my hand tools have been stolen after leaving them at a mate's business when travelling. Beautiful! Thanks for sharing! 👍🙂

You never get tired of using quality tools that fit your hand and do the job well. On some equipment, it seems the fastener placement was designed to use Snap-On or Mac wrenches because of the clearance or more rightly, the lack of it around the head of the fasteners.

The higher quality plastic inserts for those packages are intended to be put into your rolling tool chest, so things are flopping around inside the drawer. The cardboard version would quickly deteriorate with motor oil, solvent etc.
