Great job making and narrating the video. I'm an automotive technician. I love it when someone shows a trade use for a rarely used tool like the right angle adapter for appliance work. Perfect!
Thank you for this video, I ordered the igniter from Amazon and it worked. If it wasn’t for your video I probably would have paid someone. You saved me a lot of money and I appreciate that. Have a great day.

Ive got a question. I replaced my igniter in July The symptoms are a bit different. It was glowing but not lighting. And i had a gas smell. Yesterday i went to make bacon and I had used the oven the night before. This time Ive got no glow and no gas smell. Range works as does the electrical panel. Ive ordered another igniter. Would that be same cause?
Thanks I finally got mine to work. It just had to be angled correctly. Definitely didn’t line up with the screws for a GE 98 144xl. Once I got it lined up it came on. So quick question? If there is an electric ignitor then there is no pilot light that has to be lit? Thank you again for your help. 👍🏼
I have a quick question. So my oven turns on. Juat seems like it takes a longer than normal time to heat up, in the video description it says this could be from the ignitor, and i just wanted to make sure thats correct? I just assumed that if the oven turns on then the ignitor is working properly. But i obviously could be completly wrong so figured id ask. Thank you!
Is there any way to test the igniter prior to ordering and taking the whole oven apart? Or is it pretty obvious this is the problem if this is what’s going on with my oven?
Last time I replaced the igniter, it wouldn't light up. This time the old igniter lit up, but I found online it has to use sufficient current to make the gas valve turn on. My oven gas valve didn't turn on, couldn't smell gas coming from oven. Igniter was only 2 years old. Replaced it and it works fine now.
@@capecodscott there is a safety setup. The gas valve isn't turned on somehow until the amperage of the igniter hits a certain point. You have to take the panel off the bottom of the oven in mine to expose the igniter. 1st time I replaced igniter, it wouldn't light up. 2nd time, it would light up, but apparently it wasn't using enough amps to turn on the gas valve and heat the oven. The connection was buried behind a hole in the wall in my oven. Just coaxed the wire out through the hole with the wire nuts secured to it and disconnected the nuts. The order or putting the nuts back on doesn't matter because resistors have no polarity. Igniter is just a resistor.
It worked the igniter was the issue . Replaced and I used 1/4 screw socket . GE® 30' Free-Standing Gas Range JGBS19DEN3WW is my oven & IGNITER-OVENBAKE/BROIL WB13K0021 Item has been replaced by WB13X40208 fyi
@@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance BTW, I did this fix and it worked like a charm. My model actually had the heat deflector attached to the bottom panel, and my wires were part of an interchangeable sleeve. Easy-peasy. In and out in 30 minutes. Would have been quicker but couldn't get door off.
how do i find the correct ignitor for my oven?? i plugged in my model # into amazon and could not find exact . im looking at one that says universal...
My igniter glows for about 15 to 20 seconds however the flame tube doesn’t light up. Ordered up the igniter but in the case that doesn’t help what should I replace next?

Ok so I'm trying to light my pilot right meow, if I have the oven turned on and i apply flame, shouldn't everything light up, as if the oven were turned on normally?? Neither my pilot nor the main flame source are lighting, it's as if no gas is reaching it.
I dont know if you see coments but heres my problem , i wash the grill and they dont turn on know. , i set the on but nothing happens. I see your change the igniter but i want to ask before buy , if they work trowing gas because i dont smell any gas flowing inside the grill. I put a ligther to turn on just in case the ignier was bad but i dont smell any gas coming out fron the grill when i turn on , and the igniter also is not working likr yours in this video
Everyone's telling me it's my ignition, but I see it glow, and the oven slightly heats up, but either won't reach temperature and is on "preheat" forever, or says it's at temperature, but isn't. Or, if I use the stovetop then try to preheat, the oven makes a BOOM. So I know it's igniting. Is that a faulty ignition? Or something else?

Hmmm... My ignitor is working but sometimes the gas valve won't open at all & sometimes it takes awhile. I was thinking bad gas valve but based on some comments maybe a weak ignitor? I'm assuming no way to check its strength & it's certainly easier to replace than the valve. I'm assuming the ignitor is basically just an electric pilot that when on both opens the gas valve & ignites the flame. Could I try adding some heat (lighter) & see if it more consistently opens the gas valve?
i replaced the igniter and it worded the 1st time and that was it. It lights up and gas flows but won't come on now. Does that sound like the safety valve? If so can it be replaced?@@nevinyoung9147
Thank yo just saved me from buying a new srove

A new igniter should solve it😊
@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance thank you for your help. The other day I took things apart tried it and it worked. Monday it didn't work lol
Could you switch the ovens igniter for the broilers?
Yep, that’s a good idea👍

You’re so right, it just needs a new igniter.
Is there any way to test the igniter prior to ordering and taking the whole oven apart? Or is it pretty obvious this is the problem if this is what’s going on with my oven?
98% of the time it’s igniter.
2% it’s the relay on the controller 👍

Hey did you replace igniter or gas valve? Mines a GE wont glow no gas smell. Replaced igniter in July. It would glow and smell of gas but not ignite

Hey , my gas oven igniter is lighting up but I don't smell any gas. Do you still think it's the igniter?
I think it’s just weak and needs to be replaced to let the gas flow in.
Thank you! I have my oven back! :)

95% chance it’s the igniter 👍
The current igniter is reading 97 ohms. I double checked the safety valve. Igniter glows, gas kicks on for 10 seconds or so and the igniter kicks off.

Thank you 😊
My igniter glows but not really bright could it still be the igniter?
Yep,
It’s the igniter 👍
Thank you I'll get one on order👍
Should the gas still flow if the ignitor is defective?
Great question,
It should only flow if the igniter glows yellow hot👍

@QuickAndEasy5MinuteAppliance thanx but I figured it out. The connection had come loose in transit. I got er going. Happy cooking.

I bet the igniter no longer works.
If it can’t glow, the oven won’t let in the gas.
Thanks for reply sir i apreciate so much 🙏 i will buy and reply after the install
Where’s the link? Maybe I’m missing it since I’m on my phone
Hi Drew,
Here’s the link: www.amazon.com/GE-WB2X9154-Igniter-Broiler-Oven/dp/B004H3XQPM
So mine worked but it’s not pumping enough gas why would that be.
I have changed that I changed that and it still doesn't flame on
Can you hear a click when you turn on the oven and ask for heat?
My clean mode light won't go off

Okay, I just replaced mine with a brand new ignitor. Its still not glowing or lighting. :(
No problem,
Next step is to replace the controller also known as the clock.

What if you changed the igniter, there is a pilot lite, but no gas coming through. only 3.5 years old. Model number JGBS66DEK3WW?
You can double check that the gas valve is on👍
Also, the safety valve may be defective.
