Just out of idle curiosity, is there a reason you do the 10-day trend and Deep Dive within 24-hours of each other when the Deep Dive often covers the extended forecast? Seems like it might be better to split them out a little more through the week? Just a thought
We do the weekahead on Mondays, and then the weekend on Thursdays so it kind of makes sense to have them on the days in between, especially with the Lives now on Fridays...but there is a bit of an overlap
I have checked the forcasts for here in Glasgow. Some independent weather services are saying gusts of 45-50mph where as met office forcast suggested 60-62mph
Looking forward to a settled christmas, shame we have to wait until next year for more ten day trends, been a highlight of wednesday evenings this year, hope the team at the met office have a happy and relaxing christmas time
Alex, as always with your energy, a great informative update. I hope you , family and the Great Met Office presentation hosts, have a brilliant actual Christmas 10 day trend without too much turbulence, cold fronts etc. Together you have all made the met office youtube vids this year so much more enjoyable, informative for peeps like me not knowledgeable about the meteorological terms etc. Thanks Again Alex
I have noticed we have had several low pressure systems and even more expected this weekend. How come none have been named as a storm? It is usually helpful for me to say the storm name rather than just a ‘windy day’
Thank you Alex 💐💐 Storm befor the calm lol ! That’s gonna cause bad conditions for those traveling for Christmas ! Misery for some 😢 Stay save everyone and have a lovely Christmas what ever your plans 🤶🏻
Rubbish forecasts overall, l look at the cloud radar and the rainfall radar, both animated every morning then I look out of the window and I’m usually right whereas you are usually wrong.
Noo they can’t say it’s a white Christmas and then say it’s not… you have told children this.. they expect a white Christmas now, cheers for ruining their Christmas already. this weather forecast is terrible.
@ they did, they brought out a whole video about a white Christmas and now they are saying its calmed down and it won’t be. Sorry but this weather forecast is always saying one thing and then they change it and say no its this. With technology today they should be getting the weather right by now.
Don't think we said a white Christmas was likely this year. Looks very unlikely now, although some slushy deposits can't be ruled out in Scotland so techincally could be
They said that an often inaccurate news outlet decided to take 1 of several hundred/thousand simulations that said white Christmas, in part of Scotland, as gospel - it’s also a forecast, an approximation. If you have children surely you know by now it’s never said with 100% confidence?
Merry Christmas and have a very Happy New Year

@@metofficeVery informative update.
Wish you would do a week ahead or a 10-day trend on a Friday or Saturday.
Thank you, Alex, professional, informative, lively, and friendly, you kept my attention throughout your forecast 😊.
Great that there's no snow !
A Saturday in December: exists.
Storms: (rubs hands)

Why do winters seem increasingly mild, wet and gloomy? There seem to be less and less cold crisp frosty days compared to winters 5-10 years ago..
Thanks Alex. Excellent presentation, as usual. Hope you all have a nice break (who drew the short straws for 'working'?)

Thank you, Alex
No cold, great! Tick-tock, Jan incoming and not long till the spring warmth!
Let’s hope for some lovely crisp cold sunny weather and some snow. It’s not a proper winter without snow and frost.
Thanks Alex.
Thank you Alex 💐💐

Misery for some 😢

Thanks Alex, Guess I won't need to water the lawn this Christmas then...
Improving for Christmas 🎄
Windy Christmas? 😅Yes it is. Thursday? Me too, I'll have a pint. 😂😂
So gale force winds across the Irish Sea this weekend? That will be nice for the ferry trip!
1:22 I love explosive cyclogenisis.
You won't like the winds
@ I love the winds to but not when it causes disruption.
I don't think we will get snow now 😢
Of it tracks to the South East I bet it will be a named storm
i predict its gonna be wet and windy lol
You're hired
What will happen if the low tracks much south
It's very unlikely to, but the strongest winds would be more widespread
Are we getting another named storm alex
there will most likely be another named storm, probably this weekend
This weekend's going to be windy, and with lots of people travelling there could be significant impacts. However, unlikely to be a named storm
High pressure on Christmas Day wow thiers a new one. Thanks for the updates and merry christmas.
Rubbish forecasts overall, l look at the cloud radar and the rainfall radar, both animated every morning then I look out of the window and I’m usually right whereas you are usually wrong.
Yep,glad i'm not the only one who has noticed this
But then the radar would be right as it's real time not a forecast which has time to change

Who said That? Probably the Daily Express or other gutter press.
