Ferns have two live phases, Gametophyte and sporophyte phase. Gametophyte is the phase when the spores from mature fern sprouts and turn into tiny algae like structure(called prothallium) that have female and male reproduction organ (ferns can be hybridize at this phase). After self ferlitization (or even hybridization) the embryo will start the Sporophyte phase, it will grow big like the fern that we usually see.
Wow thank you for taking the time to show us a tour! The scindapsus made my jaws drop, if I had enough money I would buy it all :0 So many rare plants I’ve never even seen before, and the way everything was presented is beautiful!
Hello Sean, Cacti are succulents, but succulents are not automatically cacti. Succulents are plants which are able to store water in either their stems, leaves or roots. Therefore Cacti fall in this categorie of succulent plants. But Cacti have their own Family which is the Cactaceae and originally Cacti are only found on the American Continent. Worldwide there are many different Plant Families which can be called succulents but only one of those Families is the Cactaceae. And if it is not in the Cactaceae, it's not a cactus.
@@onlyplants You are welcome, and by the way I really enjoy your Anthurium Videos, It's very fascinating to see all those super interesting Anthuriums You have over there in Indonesia!! Great content, I really love your Channel. Me for example I live in Central América, in Guatemala to be accurate. And I had the opportunity several times to see some Anthurium species overhere in the wild. If I'm not wrong they just recently described 1 or 2 new Anthurium species from Guatemala.
YAY!!!! something to binge for rainy friday ... after cleaning my storage (create more space for work materials N of cos plant care!) then the plant shelf and trolley. This came in great timing to chill!!!! yahoo
19:20 he even has a medinilla named after him, syzygium jiewhoei can grow into a massive tree with massive leaves, and the browneopsis, been searching for one since forever....

Terima kasih banget udah bawa w kembali ke Indonesia I really miss it since I’ve been living here in Japan I’ve been missing out on the plant scene in Indonesia Jadi ketinggalan event ini dan berterima kasih bgt udh upload videonya! Jadi ga ketinggalan info hehehe
@@onlyplants there are so many interesting ones for sure from what I’ve seen in some plant expos, but to be honest I’m not really deep into the plant scene as I would’ve like, but it is really nice from what I’ve seen. Glad to see Indonesia is getting more distinguished in the intl’ plant community!
I just found the saliginella rainbow fern at My local store and picked it up. It was so beautiful that I couldn't let it sit there and dry a slow death. It's over my kitchen sink dappled bright lit window with a humidifier currently.
Thank you for doing this series! Such an interesting peek at the unbelievably beautiful plants that come from your side of the world. It's been a real treat seeing plants, that through the tissue culture process, I may be able to actually afford in a few years. So cool!
i'm salivating over the scindapsus collection, i know there are many varieties that are coming out of Indonesia right now, but I didn't realise how amazing they are in until a 4k video like this 😂😂😂😂 keep it coming sean
I love plant shows video but I'm often turned off by the useless fillers and loud background noises drowning everything. Voice over is just perfect for this, better condensed information! Love it!

Hey There Sean.. as far as I know the plant youve showed us on 7:47 have already reclassified as emblemantha something (urnulata (?) ) so yeah im totally agree w/ u :))
Hey Sean, I love your videos. I just have a small criticism. The font you use on your images is almost always unreadable and I have no idea what it says at thumbnail size until I have to zoom in or just read your title to try to work it out. You should use a less fancy font so viewers can instantly know what the text says. Anyway, hope you don't mind. Keep up the good work.
Oh thank youuu. Actually Ive been having the same thoughts too. It works well on some, but not in others depending on the spelling and background image. Appreciate the feedback!
For Platycerum and other fern hybrids it's "simple". Each spore will give you a milimeter size plant looking like an algae or a liverwort (with half of the parent's DNA), and those tiny plants will release sperm cells to fertilise each other. A true fern will grow from the female part of those plantlets. So if you plant together different spores you will have a few hybrids.
@@onlyplants well all plants do that. Pollen is not the sperm cell, it's individual microscopic plants with half of the original DNA that will eventually produce sperm cell when touching the female flower. It's more like giving birth to autonomous testicles^^
I've heard of hybrid mushrooms maybe it works on the same way by growing to spore cultures together until they merge together and then growing their spore they produce after becoming a hybrid
i love it that Sean spelled kunzo nishihata like whaite peeple spelled nishihata not native spelling nishihata even though its easy to pronounce since its spelled just like when an indonesian spelled nishihata lmao i love the whaiteness of it
@@onlyplants yeah, the green/pink contrast is so unvelievable. Generally speaking, the green of some Madagaskar plants is not seen on the typical houseplants. Some of my Pachypodiums have this intense dark green with a little copper like metallic depth. You should definitely have a look on the genus, especially brevicaule and its ssp. leucoxanthum as that one is easy to identify :)
