Hi Jim,
I think Chuck made the same mistake during his Poseidon build, but it was caused by crossing the wires during one of the wraps on the toroid. He did mention the mistake later in the video and warned about making sure the enameled wires do not get crossed. 73 WJ3U
Thank you Jeem for showcasing your blunder so that we may understand our own.
Hi Jim, great explanation. I normally number the wires as well to keep me organized. Thanks again for the explanation/ clarification
If you strip both ends of one wire and then wrap it, this is a good way of marking the wires. As you said, you need to connect two different wires in the centre.
That clears that up!
Well done sir
Perhaps the kit should ship two colors of magnet wire.
that a great update. with MAG wire I use color marker to mark ends of each wire so I can tell them apart. with that a 4:1 UNUN you can use a 200 ohm resistor from antenna to counterpoise wire and use either a nano VNA or rig expert to check SWR. should test 1.5 or so with resistor. if like 10:1 then it's wound wrong. this a easy wat to test the UNUN before you finish the build. 73's
Yep - that was how i discovered the crossed wires. The SWR was stupid high, like double digits.
Thanks for the down to earth explanation. I have read instructions on winding toroidals, and they usually don't make sense. I really enjoy your videos, keep up the good work 👏

Thanks, Jeem. we learn from your OM mistakes.🦧⁷³
