It's incredible to see these young guys playing with traditional music in such an evolutionary way. This is one of the many reasons I enjoy practicing Kung Fu. Being a part of something so steeped in tradition and being able to put it in modern context is a great feeling. Forget the mainstream. Follow your own path.
Saw them live in Madison, WI, june 10th 2011 - they were absolutely incredible. Can't get enough, that is why I went searching for them on You Tube. Thought because I had seen Huun-Huur Tu I might be disappointed - was I wrong. They are both a must see & a must purchase their CD's.
Saw them twice at WOMAD in New Plymouth, NZ, in March this year. They were a stand-out group and I still get chills thinking of their performance. Fantastic energy and music.
Ze zijn wel heel lief in hun snorretjes gegroeid over de afgelopen decennia, wat een leuk programma VPRO Vrije Geluiden. Vaker wel, het heeft wel wat weg van ´De Wereld Rond in 80 Genres´.
this is awesome...they'll be pertforming at harbourfront tomorrow and thought i'd check out what they sound like beforehand. i'll be attending their afternoon concert for sure. they are so different with their sounds and blend of traditional and western instruments. splendid programming, Harbourfront!
Morin Khurr, a traditional mongolian instrument. It is based on a legend: a little boy created this instrument to memorialize his beloved horse when the horse died after saving his live, so it is called Morin Khurr (Horse Head Volin)
The morin khuur (Mongolian: морин хуур), also known as horsehead fiddle, is a traditional Mongolian bowed stringed instrument. It is one of the most important musical instruments of the Mongol people, and is considered a symbol of the Mongolian nation.
I am from Mongolia decent, coastal Eskimo, and I love this music. It speaks to my heart.
I don't have a clue what they saying but their music hits deep into the soul...
About our nomadic lifestyle and about nature
