That song has been stuck in my head ever since I started following your channel 😂
Most of them are underage. Talented from the survival show produce 48 that has japanese and korean trainees trying to make the top 12 spot. The group has 3 japanese members while all the rest is korean. The final 12 voted by the korean citizen gets to debut as izone for 2.5 years, after that they disband and go their own ways. The center of the group is 14 years old.
Nah obviously those japanese were pro who have already debuted in Japan (like AKB project?), not the trainees like korean perticipators.. they came to Korea to learn the Kpop industry and how Korean trainees practice. (sorry for my poor English but I tried my best😅)
As an Asian, I'm kind of confused as to why sexy and hard-hitting concepts are seen as more interesting than cute. The dance for this is not simple, the singing of it is not simple, the message of it is very interesting, the concept is beautiful. So I get really confused sometimes as for why this is less interesting than a more hard-hitting/hip-hop-based/girl crush concept. Personally, I would see the music as a whole concept. The girls are young and the concept of La Vie En Rose song goes well for them. It would feel very out of place if they had done something really sexy/hard-hitting cos it won't fit their age group, regardless if the song had sounded "better". This is not to say I don't listen to harder-sounding songs because I pretty much listen to everything. It's just as a music lover I thought that loving music is about understanding how the art is presented and how it relates to the performers.
Western culture prizes individuality, strength, freedom, sexual equality, etc., while Asian cultures prize harmony, conformity, gentleness, cuteness, femininity, etc. That is why westerners tend to not like the cute/soft concept as much.
Rob Chang I get that. I’ve lived in the uk for the majority of my life. I am also very independent, a feminist, and are in tune with both western and eastern popular cultures. It just confuses me why people would consume other cultures’ contents but are not open-minded enough to try to understand why it is different and the beauty behind it. It’s not as if the sexy, independent concept isn’t wildly alien for some parts of Asia. Yet western media gets consumed without question in many asian countries. It’s just odd that asian content, as simple as the “cute concept,” can’t be accepted in the same tolerant way.
@@ddiddi1301 I think in Asia, overtly aggressive/sexual concepts are not favored either, so if you have reactors in Asia watch Nicki Minaj MVs they would likely wrinkle their noses and comment on how trashy it is. It goes both ways.
Rob Chang Lmao that’s funny cos on the show these girls were on they covered her song. Trust me in Asia we consume all kinds of sexual western contents. These girls were singing Ariana’s Side to Side on the show with some of them being as young as 14. Sooo..
@@ddiddi1301 That's not quite the same, because they aren't actually wearing the same butt-cheeks and cleavage revealing outfits as Nicki would. Their covers are always much more tame in comparison, and some of them don't even know enough English to understand the sexual innuendos.
BTW, I used to write songs for famous Chinese popstars in Taiwan (lyrics and composition), and I've been into J-Pop/Rock since 1987, K-Pop since 2001, and lived in Taiwan, China, Malaysia, and U.S., traveled to S. Korea, Japan, Philippines, am bilingual (Chinese and English), so I have very intimate knowledge of both eastern and western cultures.
Did you know that their youngest (Jang Wonyoung ,the one who looks at the camera in the first few seconds) is actually 14!

It's a mid tempo song so it takes me a few listen to actually get addicted but the choreography tho it's crazy. This is the best choreography from a girl group song released this year in my opinion. The hand movements is just genius
Dizz and Monroe reactions remember me whenever I listen to this song. At first, I didn't like the song (I don't know why), but the more I listened the more I love it and now I can't control myself when I listen. I'm actually not the biggest fan of cute concepts but I do like some cute songs (I don't know if this makes sense), summing up: I don't like that much of cute songs but I can enjoy them. I'm always thankful for your honest reactions, this makes me love you guys more. A lot of love from Brazil. 💖

i'm not surprise that you've guys already seen the song in korea, it's literally a hit. specially cause is a mix of cute and inocent, a little chic and mature. not too cute (yes, there is cutier songs) and not the extreme girl crush or sexy vibes. and for the chemistry between them or the image as a girl group, it's actually understandable, because they literally just united as a team. so show trought the mv more than pretty angles or hand movements requires maybe more time or experience to convince the public. but i really expect more from them in the future, they'll become better.
and a personal opinion (nobody asked but okay), i liked the song as a first impression, but now not that much anymore. two reasons that highlighted more than the song itself:
1. the final line up: a lot of people that watched the reality show didn't liked or believed the final line of the group (myself included) and maybe that affect the song for me. it's a complex subject, almost every girl in the group seems to be in the "visual" position, and that's a little suspicious. but all of them have talent and deserve to be in this group (they weren't my favorites in the show, but it happens)
2. that song was actually meant to be a comeback for clc (they're in "hiatus" since april). they didn't stole the song, the composer (or producer, i don't know for sure) selled it for them. but as a cheshire (clc's fandom name) in my heart and veins, i got so desapointed and sad that the sound of this song changed it all.
is still a good song (for a debut specially, is damn good), but not for me in the face of all this.
and please react to clc's "black dress" to make myself even more satisfied. anyways, i loved the reaction, love you guys ♡
TBH it’s CUBE’s fault and the producers that they sold the song so it shouldn’t really get in the way of you not liking I*ZONE/The song....because it’s not their fault that happened
AnNcKy i agree that it probably shouldn’t get in the way with them listening to it, but i agree. i can’t help but think about that whenever i hear this song. love and support the group, i don’t blame them at all for this happening i just can’t help but think that every time i listen to it.
AnNcKy i know, i don't blame them. and actually this situation happens all the time, but we don't get really to know it. but i couldn't forget about this and just enjoy the song.. maybe is wrong or childish? yeah, but it's involuntary too.
and i didn't mean that i would hate or give up on izone, is just this song. and actually i enjoyed the album and i'm expecting a lot from them in the future :)

yeah, Korea still very much loves the stereotypical cutesy girl group style, so on almost all of their major survival tv shows the final group usually ends up being given very cute concept. It’s definitely not relatable to Western style which is why a lot of international fans usually end up not liking these survival show girl groups like iz*one as much as the Korean fans do.

tnd08 I agree that they aren’t as cutesy as a lot of survival show groups. I wasn’t giving my personal opinion on Iz*one. I personally really like them. I was just saying that it’s understandable that they didn’t like the song because someone who’s not really exposed to a lot of kpop yet like Riverse, La Vie En Rose would definitely be a very cutesy song to them, especially since most girl groups they’ve been introduced to so far have been very girl crush oriented and much more Western influence

I didn't like it in the beginning, then after watching live stages and reactions, I love it now...
I was actually very underwhelmed by this song (and video) at first as well. But the more it got shoved down my throat lol, I actually love it now. It’s so bizarre. I don’t like the video still, I think the vid wasn’t done well. But the song is great. Their live performances are really amazing. And watching prod 48 you can see their progression and appreciate where they are now. There’s quite a difference. But I get that first feeling of....huh? But I think it’s the MV

trust me, this song grows on you..you have to listen to it a couple of times lol
just saying my opinion....i think the best part about them is that even though there is a designated center of the group, no one stands out individually but as a whole group, they are a very good group and work very, very well as one group and as a whole. it’s the same reason as to why i love exo, a very strong singular unit. again, this group is still very new and this debut was good enough to show what this group has in store for the future. also, i've watched izone on some variety shows and they're very funny with a lot of personality. even though 12 members is a lot (i mean super junior is like 13 members, seventeen is like 13 members, exo had 12 at one point) that just means that they are a lot of personalities that people will like. i think these are a good group of girls and i cant wait to see what they have because this debut was solid and the song is just a bop. i still cant boggle my mind around the fact that the youngest in the group is like 14 yrs old.
