- Ghent is one of two car manufacturing plants operated by Volvo Cars in Europe and has produced Volvos since 1965. At the moment it employs around 5,000 people.
A total of 363 new robots have been installed, including one which has been nicknamed “the Beast” by Ghent employees. This large robot, unique within Volvo Cars’ global manufacturing system, is used to lift lower car bodies to a conveyor belt close to the ceiling of the plant.
The Ghent plant currently builds the XC40, Volvo’s first entry in the fast-growing small SUV segment, which was named 2018 European Car of the Year last month at the Geneva Motor Show.
The new XC40 is the first model on Volvo Cars’ new modular small car platform, the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), which will underpin all upcoming cars in the 40 series. The CMA platform, co-developed with Geely, will provide Volvo Cars with the necessary synergies and economies of scale for the small premium car segment.
Ghent also builds the V40 and V40 Cross Country hatchbacks as well as the S60 sedan, and will soon start producing the all-new V60 five-door, mid-size estate revealed in February this year.

I love Volvo

Как приятно, смотреть на зарубежные заводы, всё продумано, великолепно
Nice... but there is 0 synchrony from how the car is actualy build... Welding factory then
final assembly... then paintshop... then again
final assembly... I work at Volov Cars Gent... And see it different... I wish I had to make this video :D
I work at Volvo Cars Torslanda and I agree with you the build order is out of order :D
Thanks for building my XC40!
Mine is due to be built today 16/02/21, Inscription, fusion red, blonde interior. Many thanks.
jag älskar volvo
7:52 Guy with marriage ring was trying to scratch the surface ?
It gives it that personal touch. Built by real craftsmen, not robots. There's probably signatures etched into the bottom of the panel too. People want this stuff. They pay extra for it.
Os carros da volvo , são top demais, eu prefiro o 100% elétrico da volvo!
very clever guy looking at the paint at 7:50 to wearing a ring on the finger :(
Belgian Hildes are very curvaceous.
Does anybody know the price in Germany for Volvo Xc 40
Full of flash backs! Why no sync with production proccesses?
fingerprints are everywhere. why they are not using gloves?
gloves can get dirty too, also who cares if the cars are going to be washed anyway sooner or later
@@dejwuu2137 They wash them at the end of the line, when its time to drive them out to the lot for loading
A Swedish car brand does production in Belgium? Oh I guess that makes sense
They have since 1965!
Why not? BMW built cars in Mexico
they also build them in the USA
Guess this "sticker guy" have pretty nice job
Looks like this model is not made in China yet, but maybe later it will be.
s90 is made in China, wow, globalization.
They are built in China too, but for the APAC-region. Volvo build cars in Sweden, Belgium, USA and China. As of now the only global market Volvo built in China is the S90.
10 guys in the factory, one of them are working, the other nine just stand there wondering around.
Where in the video you see this?
See that creeping looking mechanical painting arm? It was fleshy!
Um...
slaves....
VOLVO ES LA MEJOR EMPRESA DE CARRO DEL MUNDO Y LA MÁS SEGURA DE TODAS ES LA EMPRESA QUÉ MÁS SE INTERESA POR LA SEGURIDAD DE SUS CLIENTES
This plant looks to be "Over-staffed" to me. One person doing a job and five watching.
I had a similar thought. That's modern workforces for you...
3:11 Anyone knows model of this drill? Looks like it have a lot of torque :D

승차감이요? 성능이요? 디자인이요? 인테리어요? 그냥느낌이요?
Sloppy workers, sloppy system. For such luxury, “crafted” cars, this is beyond subpar. The lack of care, attention to detail, clean environment, tighter factory rigor for a prestigious, sticker (no pun intended!) brand like Volvo. Disappointing! Honda has a tighter rigor and level of care than this. Surprised Volvo allowed access inside this factory. Embarrassing...
