- There has been crazy rain in Kuala Lumpur for the last couple of hours. That has caused flooding to the highway outside my house where many cars are stuck in the flood with people inside. Please send help. This is KESAS Highway, beside Bukit Jalil and Awan Besar LRT.

Thanks for sharing this video. Yes, it's crazy with d unpredictable flooding situations in Malaysia. Imagine, d people who have to deal with this situations, few times in a year, after years, after decades. Stay away from d flood.
Few months before u had arrived in Malaysia, they r disasters coz of flooding in Malaysia, strangely in Selangor.
Hope the ppl receive the necessary aid at this devastating time. It’s just sad the ppl have been facing endless challenges in Malaysia. The leaders should be ashamed of themselves as they have failed the nation repeatedly by robbing and manipulating every opportunity to enrich themselves instead of improving the infrastructure and lives of the ppl. We need the Divine intervention to save Malaysia and praying it’s soon.

I suppose one can argue that this is the divine sign that whoever's above is angry. Malaysia has suffered terrible floods before, but never to this scale. You can look back to 2020 and see that since the legitimate government chosen by the people was removed via a political coup by the UMNO and BERSATU parties, catastrophes continued to happen without end. That is if you believe that stuff anyway, I'm not gonna tell you it's a fact. It's just an observation.

Town planning very bad. Drainage system planning to accommodate the on going development of many suburb towns and residential homes and highways and so on not taken into consideration. Our government needs to look into this matter ASAP. This is a total failure. No point having the tallest building in Malaysia when the government has failed to facilitate the process in town planning. Very embarrassing.
Good point. Govt can build tallest building cost billions but failed to spend on upgrading drainage river just cost hundreds millions. So shameful.

Kuala Lumpur and Selangor needs to rethink their land development plan and also the drainage and sewerage coz overdevelopment, over population, over densed population would not solve th current situation, combined with the attitude of residences who throw rubbishes here and there, in the river, in the drains etc. Many causes which by human instead of mother nature.
Kuala Lumpur is a valley since beginning therefore rain water stagnation happen frequently. This is why it's name Kuala Lumpur came from.

It is pretty normal here in Malaysia and most ppl survived. You don't need to call ambulance or police because they cannot do anything. Just have to pray. When it rains heavy and continuously, don't drive. Park your car in a multi-story carpark.

@@cb250nighthawk3 Kesas should turn this barrier into one that can be operated remotely. When the floodwaters rise, barrier can be opened immediately by someone in their HQ by the touch of a button.
if I were the big truck or someone with the tools, I would open the road divider and made a turn from the opposite road.
There has been a lot of development with LRT and the water cannot follow its previous old route. Also the drainage channels need to be widened and deepened to cope with the water volume. Perhaps the rivers should be dredged too as the construction sand will be washed into the rivers thus degrading how much water the rivers can hold. This has been an annual occurrence for the past few years. Malaysia experiences monsoon rains. The government needs to overhaul the drainage system throughout the Klang Valley to minimise flood damage.

I was on my way to NEP from Salak South. Stranded for over an hour in the traffic only to be told to make an illegal turn back. Fortunately, I was not stranded in the flood.

Well certainly not the gamen, or negligent and callous urban developers/town planners, or whoever is in charge of our flood prevention strategy.. but the rakyat, our ill-equipped and underfunded emergency response teams, the people living on the ground level, the poorest of the poor, their businesses and livelihoods all perished in the blink of an eye... because the people at the top cant seem to do anything about how shitty our urban planning/sewage/river management is at preventing the most common environmental disaster in Malaysia.. fucking appalling, ridiculous!!!
Every day that passes by, I lose more and more hope for this city...my home... It's hell on earth seeing this continually happen again and again.. IN our own capital city, ever closer to home.. Shouldnt we have come up with a solid flood/disaster prevention strategy by now after what happened in December?? I guess not.. and the financial blow caused by the pandemic shouldnt be an excuse anymore as we have been making progress in that area.. but that our political parties are too busy blaming each other instead of just putting aside their differences and solving the fucking problem. It feels like we are getting absolutely no breaks. Flooding and disaster prevention and the safety of those most vulnerable should be at the top of our govts list of priorities, not these stupid skyscrapers.
KL city council needs to pull their heads out of their asses and come up with a national flood control management strategy that addresses climate change because we are being continuously hit OVER and OVER again with unsustainable levels of flooding over the past few months. And its the POOR who are the ones that pay the real price. im so fucking fed up...
