Tbh I don't think the debut was THAT bad as what others make it out to be..but honestly when the news about Ahyeon broke out my excitement for the entire debut dampened and it actually took away a lot of enjoyment on my part while watching this, because all I could think about was how good it would've been if she were there
I was hoping YG would do something different with them. The girls are super talented but Batter Up sounds like Lisa's Money. Also what's going on with Ahyeon? I hope she joins for the first comeback.
Nice reaction. It was fun watching you vibing to the song. I hope you can also react to Stuck in the Middle. Also, did you hear the Christmas song they released? I think you'll enjoy it even if you don't do a reaction. (I'm speaking as someone who doesn't care for the genre of Christmas music, but everything these girls do is special) Mini album is scheduled for April, and maybe a full album in the Fall. There's actually a lot of content coming out from Babymonster. Keep an ear out for what Rami (I guess it's short for Haram) does in SITM. it's not obvious on first listen.
RAMI/SHIN HARAM, AHYEON/JUNG AHYEON and RORA/LEE DAIN are my favorite members in BABYMONSTER. I really love their voices. They are so talented. They are so good at singing. Their vocals are superb. I love them so much. They have so much potential. They are great.
I've been waiting for this PD... why am I only seeing this now??? there are 2mos old comments I'm confused...😂 but FINALLY,been waiting for your reaction on this song...
I watched the 'survival' show for this group and was so excited to see ahyeon debut because of how talented she is but then it was announced that she left and I was so disappointed and then was even more so when this mv came out. It almost feels like yg is aging reusing the exact same things without much new because it has succeeded before. I'm worried about the group now that blackpink has resigned as well... they deserve better.
Two+ months ago, the rumors spread by YG haters stated that both Ahyeon and Blackpink left YG. Truth is Ahyeon was on hiatus for health concerns and Blackpink, as a group, is still with YG. The members of Blackpink did not renew their individual contracts with YG and it appears they all created their own separate agencies to handle their individual projects.
You are "excited" to see Ahyeon but don't even up to date on her situation 😂. She didn't left, she's on hiatus due to health conditions. She'll join BABYMONSTER next comrback, this has been confirmed by YG. They'll released Batter Up and Stuck in the Middle with Ahyeon part included as well. Please next time read or watch the official statement first and not the fans or haters speculations or rumours 🤦🏻
I wish YGE would hire a creative director to craft compelling MV storylines that make sense, using authentic locations instead of sets. BU relied on copy-pasting (total miss); they aren’t keeping up with their competitors, putting them behind in the game.
First time i didn't like te song or the vídeo, BUT! When i remember in my head this song and played in my car with the amp and it sounds Tremendous! Is a monster song believe me, so i love it! 💘
If this song made you so stoked, then their new song Stuck in the Middle will make you feel heavenly and dreamy. Im waiting for your next BabyMonster reaction 😄
Looking back to this song, I’ve gone to appreciate this song a lot more. I’ve always liked the song when it came out but since it’s almost a year old, it’s one of the best debut songs that released in 2023 to me.
It just felt quite underwhelming to me. It felt a bit dated and not at all fresh. Very typical YG structure with a sound that reminds you of Lisa's money in the chorus. Same with the MV, it doesn't do anything to add to the song. But it's only a debut, maybe I'll like their future releases more! I know the girls are very talented
I think for me BABYMONSTER did not come out of the gate strong in establishing the group identity. For example, NewJeans and Le Sserafim are from the same label but debuted with a different concept and identity. Whereas, this feels more like Baby BlackPink. I really hope they will hit it out of the ballpark with their mini album in April with Ahyeon.
Imo the girls clearly have that YG flair but it feels like they are just that. Imo a debut song shouldn't just be a flex on their abilities but a declaration of who they are/want to be. Even tho the song is catchy it's too YG if that makes sense, it feels soulless, like they have no identity. Especially if you compare it to Blackpink's early days, this feels like a huge fall in quality
I agree. YG focuses too much on forcing all their groups into the YG concept instead of letting their groups have concepts individual to them. That’s why it feels soulless imo.
It was very, very YG. I could easily picture Blackpink singing track. I could even picture 2NE1 performing it, if they were still around. Couldn't YG see when he looked at the MV concept that his company has done it so many times before? Didn't hate the track or the MV, but it was also very much nothing I haven't seen before.
PD we've missed u... I'm looking forward to your reaction to ATEEZ recent cb, the title track and all the unit songs have a separate mv and each one of them are incredibly made and directed
I can understand why people dislike this song, but it grew on me and it's just super fun and addictive the more you listen to it. also hyunsuk helping with this song makes me love it more. it's a great song imo, but I totally get why so many people disagree. definitely seen worse debuts though!
Agreed, felt like they were at 7/10th power/ ability... want to really get on board with this new YG group, but they're still missing something for me, but love these girls regardless! Speaking of amazing gals, checking every day for your TWICE I Got You react, can't wait to see your face when you experience that one!~ Thx PD, great as usual!~
when watching the “survival” show i was hoping that yg would switch it up with this group since they have amazing potential but when this came out i was disappointed it’s a pretty catchy song and i do listen to it once in awhile but it’s just something missing and kinda sounds like a reject blackpink song. i hope for the comeback they give them something that fits the girls more
Something I’ve always disliked about YG music videos is how EVERYTHING feels like a set. Like yes, kpop music videos will usually be mostly made up of sets as opposed to real locations but even if a YG music video IS in a real location, it somehow still feels like a set?? And the members never feel cohesive with the set they’re in - they just feel superimposed there if that makes sense. But rap line goes crazy, that’s all I’ll say.
@@ankoin I’m not saying they don’t have amazing music videos and I’m not saying they don’t use real locations. But to me they all feel like a decorated stages as opposed to immersive worlds.
@@odgykins I understood it. But... first of all, almost all big agencies doing it. Especially SM, also they use a lot of green screen, which I personally don't like at all. But green screen and real sets are looking great if idea of MV is fresh and unusual. Secondly, let's take MVs where you can see real locations and it doesn't feel like what you said. For example, BIGBANG - Blue, Bad Boy, Love Song, WeLike2Party, Loser; Taeyang - Darling, White night, Daesung - Shut up; GD - Crooked, Tablo ft Taeyang - Tomorrow, Gummy - I'm sorry (mostly real locations), iKON - Apology and many more. This is just what I remembered without searching. That type of MVs which you meant came mostly with Blackpink era. They also have some real locations but yes mostly always sets. But me personally prefer real sets more than only green screen.
@@ankoin It’s up to personal preference. I think sets feel rigid. I like VFX because it expands the set outward and makes me feel less like a fourth wall and more like I’m there will them. Yes there are many YG music videos that don’t have sets - I mentioned that in my original comment. Yet they still feel rigid to me with the way it’s directed and edited. That’s just my opinion.
Yep I dig your commentary about Ruka and Asa sharing the same set. And do like JenLisa did in Pink Venom rap. It would slay more visually seeing Asa and Ruka swagging at the same time in Ruka's set.
Yes, the song is full of YG color code, MV production, song structure, instrumental arrangements such and such, but i would say in this way. YG play it in a safe mode for their debut. If the people out there, know the history of YG, and realize there is one company can keep their music genre and promise, WE should show some respect to them. On the other hand, if you look at JYP, HYBE, SM ...., their comeback is like a laboratory experiment, nothing's wrong with that, the song is just hit or miss. ( They do have some good concept sometimes ). I am glad BM are so talented and they can fit in YGE. Numbers dont lie and we will see what else they can do in the future.
Ahyeon WILL be back for their mini album in April 🫰🏼 SO EXCITED! The girls did GREAT without her but now they'll be able to show who they truly are with ALL members now.
I think, yg haven't showed their identity as a group, because girls have such strong vocals, other talents, and yg hyped up a lot, but they haven't given anything new from visual point and song as well ... I'm interested what's going after babymonster. I hope they would be given something other from earlier yg gens
I love YG style 💖 I honestly missed videos like this one (especially because it's been years since BLACKPINK had a comeback) so I'm more than happy to see this concept again. I also think it's pretty hypocritical to want to see completely different concepts for each era when it comes to girl groups but boy groups are permanently fixed to one concept. I mean, just look at NCT's entire discography, they use the same style and concept in every song (except a few but it mostly stays consistent) Does anyone else also feel this way?
Honestly I feel like this video wasn't very YG. The white background is more SM to me like I was really feeling f(x) but overall I feel like I've seen every scene in another MV that's not YG. Yes there were a good few scenes we've seen BP do but a lot of this reminded me of Kep1er and older Twice. I know we've seen a lot of classroom dance shots but this for me was giving older BTS, maybe Boy in Luv. I swear scene of the prechorus after the rap (sorry idk their names) was a shot I've seen of Wonyoung 10 times and then the phone booth simultaneously reminded me of Idle's Latata and something from EXID I can't quite put my finger on. and maybe it's just me but the "big" dance scene at the end felt like we were gonna do a Produce Dance Battle or something. anywho, yeah I agree with the lackluster comments
Tbh I really dislike this song but I want to thank Hyunsuk for saving this song, writing that rap part was iconic👏💥that part gave me an interest to this song.
However, the assessment of BABYMONSTER in South Korea is not very positive. Especially, international fans are taking various protective measures to shield BABYMONSTER from negative evaluations, but in South Korea, for various reasons, BABYMONSTER is not being positively evaluated. The most crucial reason among them is that there is "not a single aspect that has progressed beyond the typical YG style; there is no development from the existing YG vibe." It wouldn't be a problem if it simply adhered to the YG style, but the lack of progress in the YG-like aspects has shattered everyone's expectations. Looking at a similar debut time, KISS OF LIFE is receiving much more recognition and love. Moreover, there are expectations that Teddy's upcoming girl group debut will showcase an evolved essence of YG girl groups
I honestly think the mv seems to be lacking something, but i loved the song even if it seems like Lisa's money, it's an style i like so i had no problem with that. What made me sad is that people don't try to appreciate this song by itself just because ahyeon is not in it. I know she has a lot of fans and that she's super talented but the song can be appreciated even if she's not participating for now.
Batter Up was cool but Stuck in the Middle… whew that song got me in a choke hold. The harmonies, the Rami adlibs, ASA SINGING!!!! Her tone is great! And now that I'm adicted to the song, I just don't know where we add Ahyeon! Like half of Pharita and some of Rami or Rora. I hope none of Asa though as her vocals really shined
i agree...it lacks a cohesive flow i guess??? the set they each have is not at all connected to each other. the video is good, but there's that missing ribbon to tie it all together...
Babymonster is gonna sound and style as a group and performers is gonna leave you speechless beyond anything they are definitely a different type of group and performers
When you listen to this song, you think of Blackpink. The Rap Formulae, The chant, The structure is VERY BLACKPINK. Blackpink in your area > Monster of the world. Thanks for the reaction, PD! I agree with you about Batter Up! Ahyeon is coming back in April, really excited! Also, waiting for the Stuck In The Middle's reaction now!
Tbh I don't think the debut was THAT bad as what others make it out to be..but honestly when the news about Ahyeon broke out my excitement for the entire debut dampened and it actually took away a lot of enjoyment on my part while watching this, because all I could think about was how good it would've been if she were there
It is. Its a recycled song from YG and Treasure LOL
I was hoping YG would do something different with them. The girls are super talented but Batter Up sounds like Lisa's Money. Also what's going on with Ahyeon? I hope she joins for the first comeback.
The hate for this song was sooooo forced like sure it was nothing that mind blowing but it’s still a damn good song
FUCKING FOR REAL
Nice reaction. It was fun watching you vibing to the song. I hope you can also react to Stuck in the Middle. Also, did you hear the Christmas song they released? I think you'll enjoy it even if you don't do a reaction. (I'm speaking as someone who doesn't care for the genre of Christmas music, but everything these girls do is special)
Mini album is scheduled for April, and maybe a full album in the Fall.
Basically the K line
I've been waiting for this PD... why am I only seeing this now??? there are 2mos old comments I'm confused...😂
but FINALLY,been waiting for your reaction on this song...
Pretty sure, the older comments are from the patreon early upload :)
Even me. I always wait for his reaction. Like he's one best reactor no biase
She hasn't left the group, apparently due to health reasons she will be joining the group at a later point
Blackpink is leaving YG?
Blackpink didn't leave tho... they're still under YG as a group. They just signed with or created other companies for individual activities.
SO LISTEN UP EVERYBODY🕺
we all love the rap parts in here, and thank you choi hyunsuk for making ruka's part ans some of asa's, the beats and the flow.
yup!!!
Omg finally, I've been checking a lot for your react to this GG.
Keep healty PD
the rap parts??!?!? some of my fave from 2023!! and that pre-chorus is heavenly
they fixed most of your concerns in the Sheesh MV. love your reactions mate!
It’s on Patreon
If this song made you so stoked, then their new song Stuck in the Middle will make you feel heavenly and dreamy. Im waiting for your next BabyMonster reaction 😄
Can't wait for SHEESH MV's Kulture Study
Great to see your videos again!! 💕
For me i feel like they just show that babymonster can do yg style too. Let’s just wait this coming April for their comeback with Ahyeon
Ahyeon strikes differently. You can hear the difference of her vocals in Dream with others. Divine.
PD we've missed u... I'm looking forward to your reaction to ATEEZ recent cb, the title track and all the unit songs have a separate mv and each one of them are incredibly made and directed
Rap line, lyrics by treasure hyunsuk and asa baby monster🔥🔥❤
I agree with you PD. I'm excited on what they could offer more in the future. They could do different things ❤ #BABYMONSTER #BATTERUP
Speaking of amazing gals, checking every day for your TWICE I Got You react, can't wait to see your face when you experience that one!~ Thx PD, great as usual!~
when watching the “survival” show i was hoping that yg would switch it up with this group since they have amazing potential but when this came out i was disappointed it’s a pretty catchy song and i do listen to it once in awhile but it’s just something missing and kinda sounds like a reject blackpink song. i hope for the comeback they give them something that fits the girls more
They did cb.. 3 weeks ago..
Thank you for creating review content about Baby Monster
Something I’ve always disliked about YG music videos is how EVERYTHING feels like a set. Like yes, kpop music videos will usually be mostly made up of sets as opposed to real locations but even if a YG music video IS in a real location, it somehow still feels like a set?? And the members never feel cohesive with the set they’re in - they just feel superimposed there if that makes sense.
But rap line goes crazy, that’s all I’ll say.
I can name at least 30 YG's MVs with using real location or mixing real locations with sets. YG has a lot of amazing MVs.
@@ankoin I’m not saying they don’t have amazing music videos and I’m not saying they don’t use real locations. But to me they all feel like a decorated stages as opposed to immersive worlds.
The issue is actually the editing. Too much. There should be LESS cuts.
That’s just my opinion.
omg I've been waiting for your reaction why just now 😢
Yep I dig your commentary about Ruka and Asa sharing the same set. And do like JenLisa did in Pink Venom rap. It would slay more visually seeing Asa and Ruka swagging at the same time in Ruka's set.
Need to check out their song ( stuck in the middle) it’s great
Thanks for the reaction!! I'm waiting for the Stuck in the middle!!
Numbers dont lie and we will see what else they can do in the future.
it’s like yg is stuck in a cycle with their group concepts
Baby monster forever you need to watch now!
Finally, been waiting for months
You need updates so much new song about BABYMONSTER!!! Batter up is just a tiny thing, their new song Sheesh & Like that is insane……🔥🔥🔥🔥
the dance practice of babymonster is the best performance
I love this song and I don't understand why so many people hate it :(
Glad you’re posting more ❤
Stuck in the middle and dream were so good, idk what they were thinking with his BP reject song as a debut
Pharita Rami Asa Chiquita Ruka = badass
Meanwhile Rora: I am the real monster
Ahyeon will join soon
Haram came out swinging!!
Ahyeon WILL be back for their mini album in April 🫰🏼 SO EXCITED! The girls did GREAT without her but now they'll be able to show who they truly are with ALL members now.
DONT DISAPPEAR LIKE THIS PLS
waiting for you to react to stuck in the middle omg
This debut feels like they tried to make a group out of Lisa's money I can't lie 💀
Hope to see your next reaction to BANG YEDAM mini album only one
At first listen i dont like it that much too but the more you listen to the song it becomes more addictive
Please watch their brand new MV “Stuck in the middle” 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
Man I ve been waiting for PD’S reaction to the ruka asa rap and I was not disappointed 😂
I think, yg haven't showed their identity as a group, because girls have such strong vocals, other talents, and yg hyped up a lot, but they haven't given anything new from visual point and song as well ... I'm interested what's going after babymonster. I hope they would be given something other from earlier yg gens
MANNNN I NEED YOUR REACTION TO SHEESH PLEASE COME BAAAAACK 😢
It’s on Patreon, same with Stuck In The Middle
I love YG style 💖
I honestly missed videos like this one (especially because it's been years since BLACKPINK had a comeback) so I'm more than happy to see this concept again.
I also think it's pretty hypocritical to want to see completely different concepts for each era when it comes to girl groups but boy groups are permanently fixed to one concept.
I mean, just look at NCT's entire discography, they use the same style and concept in every song (except a few but it mostly stays consistent)
Does anyone else also feel this way?
Please reaction babymonster Stuck In The Middle, thank you❤
love the whole production it suits them
Hello .I'm looking forward of u stuck in the middle.reactions❤️❤❤
i can't with this rap🔥❤️
Honestly, the rap saved this song for me. I think that style of song/music fits them so well.
I swear scene of the prechorus after the rap (sorry idk their names) was a shot I've seen of Wonyoung 10 times and then the phone booth simultaneously reminded me of Idle's Latata and something from EXID I can't quite put my finger on. and maybe it's just me but the "big" dance scene at the end felt like we were gonna do a Produce Dance Battle or something. anywho, yeah I agree with the lackluster comments
i love baemon!! also pls react to stayc bubble 🥹
Tbh I really dislike this song but I want to thank Hyunsuk for saving this song, writing that rap part was iconic👏💥that part gave me an interest to this song.
What an insane M/V !
Still waiting for your reaction on Sheesh and Forever of Babymonster.
PD, please react to Pledis' new bg TWS. Thay have 3 mv so far plot twist (title), oh mymy (pre release) and BFF (beside)
The ending set looks like the set from Treasure Boy MV
PD, if you are uploading Reaction videos, make them available ASAP. 2 months is way too much
React to their stuck in the middle that just came out
YG stan💛
I honestly think the mv seems to be lacking something, but i loved the song even if it seems like Lisa's money, it's an style i like so i had no problem with that. What made me sad is that people don't try to appreciate this song by itself just because ahyeon is not in it. I know she has a lot of fans and that she's super talented but the song can be appreciated even if she's not participating for now.
Stuck in the middle next
The verses and pre chorus slapped but the chorus was a let down. The only thing that ruins the song from being a 10/10.
I hope none of Asa though as her vocals really shined
i've been waiting for so long for Ateez reaction, and yet here I am without one🥲
i agree...it lacks a cohesive flow i guess??? the set they each have is not at all connected to each other. the video is good, but there's that missing ribbon to tie it all together...
Stuck in the Middle!!!! Is power voice
Asa❤
Still here waiting for your SITM reaction/review
Pls react also their live stage and dance practice pls and stuck in the middle mv and live also 🙏🙏🙏 ..
It's Pa-rita since Thai does not have the eff sound.
wait how is this video 1 month old but some of the comments are 3 moths old?
Babymonster is gonna sound and style as a group and performers is gonna leave you speechless beyond anything they are definitely a different type of group and performers
When you listen to this song, you think of Blackpink. The Rap Formulae, The chant, The structure is VERY BLACKPINK.
Blackpink in your area > Monster of the world.
Vocal arrangement > Raspy/Pitchy Voice Verse1 (Jennie) > Pitchy Voice Pre-Chorus1 (Rose/Jisoo) > Rap Verse2 (Lisa/Jennie) with Rah like Lisa's chant.
BRUHHHH The song is screaming Blackpink's leftover. The song is good and cute but they aren't Blackpink.
Poor the girls.
Asa and rami bias here!
