- Medical examiner Stephanie Yagi took the stand on Thursday afternoon to discuss the details of the gruesome murder of 69-year-old journalist Jeffery German. The accused killer, Robert Telles, was seen cringing at the images of the victim when they were shown.

Robert Telles is accused of murdering Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Jeff German. After German had written several articles about Telles, a public administrator at the time, he was found stabbed to death outside his home in September 2022. Prosecutors claim Telles’ DNA was found under German’s fingernails. Telles has pleaded not guilty and says he was framed for the murder.

I love to watch a defendant, who the prosecution has tons of evidence against, try to look innocent.

It IS very strange. A part of me thinks she's just introverted and this nervous laugh slips out when she is uncomfortable or if she finds the question confusing, but it's so hard to say. Definitely odd.

@@reelmermaid8844 that’s almost definitely what it is. it’s an involuntary reflex for some people to laugh/smile when they are nervous or uncomfortable. it doesn’t really seem as strange if you also take into account that as a medical examiner, she very likely has to operate with a level of detachment that would come off as “odd” to most others. i highly doubt she actually thinks any of this is funny - she’s just uncomfortable.

Is this guy representing himself? I remember during the pretrial, he was being grilled by the judge and didn’t have any clue how he would handle his case.
He was to begin with and yes the judge did go at him in some of those pre trial hearings he thought he was smarter than everyone else and the judge told him that essentially he was only hurting himself by trying to represent himself with these serious charges and evidence the state had

IMO he’s no longer pro se because I think he’ll take the stand- tough to testify pro-se. He craves telling his ‘story’ every chance, & is dying for the opportunity to be painted as a martyr exposing ‘huge corruption’, & victimised for it in the process. When a personality disorder is this severe, it completely writes a person off. In the words of buzz lightyear, he’s ‘a sad, strange little man’- but also very dangerous & frightening.

She looks really uncomfortable, she might not have a lot of experience testifying. I'd like to think it's a nervous laugh when she doesn't understand the question etc., but it's a bit unnerving to see her smile while talking about such brutal injuries. I suppose she has to be emotionally removed to do her job, but it does come across as odd.

I’m sure you may get callous to these types of things after performing that job for years but it would be hard to have to witness it if you cared for the victim.
I don’t think that’s fair. She might have been a little nervous speaking publicly. Some people get that way. I didn’t perceive her as being callous or uncaring at all.
