Im so surprised she lived 6 years alone! I would have thought she would die from loneliness. Its really quite sad that she was allowed to live alone for 6 years, good for you for helping.
Greetings from Cork,Ireland! One solution is to clip,or cut, the wings of your girls...it does work. Growing up,we always kept Rhode Island reds, wnich to me are the best looking, and laying egg, chicken!
Thanks - if only we'd known!, We also have two Rhode Island Red crosses - rescue chickens. You can see their story here ua-cam.com/video/O9iPdoFxkpM/v-deo.html. Say hi to Cork for us - lovely place
many people have to and want to travel the world to find their happiness. I belong to the group of people who try to find and keep their happiness in the place where they live. In general I don't care much for five star hotels and expensive restaurants and expensive clothes and a house that is way too big. But a lot of property and enough money to take care of precious animals.
@@escapetowoods Don't mention it. I'd rather watch these kinds of UA-cam channels . than watch fashion and ridiculously overpriced stuff that only the richest can afford. I'm just watching that last one just out of curiosity. to keep up with the inventions of technology. Sometimes there is nice stuff that I can fantasize about owning. But if I had to choose between being able to take care of animals or owning technology, I'd rather be taking care of animals. Unless that same technology can help me to take better and easier care of those animals.
Hahaha you are too funny. I think I found some kindred spirits. Happy life. Enjoy every second! Hens too and of course psychopathic Daisy. Omgoodness! 😂
Absolutely fab story. I used to have a cockerel 🐓 when I was little. Got him as a chick 🐥 , living under my bed. Eventually grew too big and moved him to the garden. He was like a dog really and very friendly. I wish I too could escape London and live in rural to have some pets 😊 and maybe even visit Henrietta 😍. You made the right decision - well done 👏🏻
He sounds great. We'd love a cockerel too but don't know what we'd do with all the male chicks. You should move to the country if you can - we haven't looked back...
Thanks for sharing Henrietta's story with us. I also have a lonely speckled hen - Alice Coop - her friend died last Sunday. I have been told there is another lonely hen in the village called Ebony, I hope to adopt her in a day or two to keep Alice company. I'm so glad you explained about keeping them apart for a few weeks, so my next task is to build an adjacent run for Ebony, so they can get to know each other a bit. Best wishes for your new life in the country. i'll be watching. Ann - chicken lover in East Devon. PS: I don't seem to have a problem with our cat. She is very respectful of the hens.
Hi Ann, Alice Coop is a great name! I'm sorry to hear her friend died. We haven't lost any yet, I'm sure it's very upsetting. Good luck with Ebony, I'm sure they'll get on famously. Mike
I had a lonely barred rock chicken that I inherited too. Well there were 3 sisters 5yrs old, but after 2 years her sisters died leaving 1. I found her a new friend a 1year old Aystralorp hen. Introduced them slowly by keeping them separate but next to each other. After 5 days the new girl decided to jump the fence and soon regreted it. Unfortunately my Barred Rock hen is a bossy nasty girl. She's always been top of the pecking order. So new miss got beaten up but I stepped in quickly and removed her. It happened twice...she's learnt now. They are still separated. Not sure if she will ever accept her. It's her turf shes been here 8years. I might end up getting a new friend for the New miss and the old girl can stay single.
Oh, what a lovely Happy Ending! and you've rescued more! I feel a bit sorry for Daisy though, you might need to find her a little chum! The new location looks wonderful - I can't wait to see it with my own eyes, but the video is lovely and really shows it off well - and you two look so Happy down there, and it will be even better when/if the summer comes. Love and all good wishes. Marl xxx
Thanks for the feedback and sorry about that. There's obviously nothing we can do now about this video but we'll make sure to dip the music more in future videos

Henrietta is a more sympathetic character than Daisy. But then again, every good story needs a villain.
Yeah - Daisy is EVIL
What an amazing story! Very sweet! 😂❤🥰
