It must run in the family or something... I traded in my 15' Impreza sport for our 18' Crosstrek when the 15' needed tires before the lease was up. and yes, these nice folks are my parents.
my public service notice about EyeSight, especially for people who think they are used to it - KEEP YOUR WINDSHIELD CLEAN. you likely have seen the winter fog/frost warning message "EyeSight is Off". The tricky thing is, one smashed insect in just the wrong place, in the summer, will make EyeSight blind and the car will NOT notice it nor warn you. The only symptom is lack of the "following a car" symbol, and lack of slowing down, on cruise control for traffic ahead. This has happened to me, once in 36,000 miles.
The 20mm rear bar coupled with new geolander go55 tires absolutely transformed our 18’ 3.6r touring. Makes it feel so much more confident around curves. Also when climbing mountain passes the cvt is the perfect pair with the 3.6, the transmission doesn’t have to downshift, it just minutely adjusts to the grade
We have a 2015 3.6R Limited. About 33k it began to make a sound that was exactly what wheel bearings sound like when they are going out. I replaced the tires with Michelin Premier A/S tires and WOW, what a difference. Silence. Way quieter that it was even when brand new. Plus they ride better and are absolute MONSTERS in the wet. It is unflappable in even heavy rain or standing water. We don’t get much (or any) snow down here in San Antonio, so I can’t speak about that, but otherwise these tires are the single best upgrade we’ve made. In a few thousand miles I’ll be doing the same to our 2017 Forester XT Touring.
My wife has a 2018 Outback Touring with the 2.5. It has almost 20k miles on it and my wife just loves it. Hers is the really dark blue and looks absolutely beautiful. The adaptive cruise control works beautifully.
That’s a good Spec Outback not many Subaru owners purchase the top of the line models so they do stand out especially with the cool color interior and exterior that they have
We have a 19 Outback in Cinnamon Brown Pearl with Ivory interior. My wife fell in love with the colors so we bought it. We average 4-5 feet of snow in the winter and we’ve never had a problem with it. We do have to go into X mode to get up our private road and into our garage. We only have 10K miles on it and it’s now 3 years old. Once Subaru gets the bugs worked out of the new Solterra, then we’ll buy it for me. We recommend Subaru to anyone.
Bought a 2012 Outback for my first car when I was in college. I know, a 20-year-old wanted a wagon? Well, I really liked it because I could fit all my friend's gear and we would head to the mountains to ski. It was very versatile and I was able to move myself from my parent's house to my dorm. I liked the AWD system since I am from New Jersey and we still get pretty bad snow storms. The system held up well during my trips to the Catskills for skiing and for my daily comute. Never felt like it would slip really. It's been pretty reliable, 110,000 miles, and other than oil changes, it's been great. I got the 2012 with the backup camera and navigation and those have been great too. My next car will probably be a newer Outback with brighter headlights
The swaybar upgrade sounds good. I have to wonder how often they're going to scrape those exhaust tips, they hang down awfully low for the back of that wagon.

From the for what it’s worth file, I had a 2005 Outback with very high mileage. I commuted from Colorado to North Dakota on a 15 and 6 schedule. Just under 1000 miles each. A lot of 2 lane highway and a LOT of wildlife to avoid. After 2 near misses where I was able to avoid the elk but lost control of the car I made 2 upgrades. I added a larger rear sway bar and a tower strut bar under the hood. Now the Outback was never a performance car to begin with and with 200,000+ the original suspension was fairly worn out. An emergency maneuver would result in the rear coming around. I absolutely could not believe the change those upgrades made. The car cornered much much better. If they was to make one additional upgrade I would suggest that strut bar under the hood. Probably less than $250 and an easy install.
John Phillips I have an 2018 2.5i Outback, will have to look up where I can get those two upgrades. I would love to lift it sometime, so unsure if the rear sway would be affected by a 2” lift

I have a 2019 3.6R with those same Bridgestones. Bought the car brand new back in November 2019. The tire noise (3:52) has been excessive from the get go. The CVT has done well in the mountains of Western PA. Highway mileage is about 30. City mileage is about 23. A couple of trim issues, which was disappointing. Interior trim around the sunroof opening came loose. Also, a piece of black plastic above the passenger side A pillar was loose. I'm most concerned about waiting for the cracked windshield issue to appear. I've read about the windshield issue on Subaru forums and how Subaru has not been supportive to its customer base on the issue. If I have this same experience, I'll trade it in before having to replace the windshield several times plus the camera re-calibration costs
The one thing I would change is I would put the blind spot monitoring lights back in the mirror and I would include an audible signal like most other manufacturers have.
First Subaru was in 2008, Had 5, so about 1 new Subaru every 2 years and a few months. This is not a Strong supportive case for long car life. They never had any problems with the CVT, well I hope not. My daughter still drives a Toyota Corolla I purchased new in 2008. We and She never had any trouble out of it . Subaru was a fine car company, then they went CVT, CVT means do not buy. The Subaru CVT costs about twice as much to replace than a regular automatic. Even if it lasts as long as a regular tranny (which I doubt) the cost of transaxle replacement is too high. Also according to Autoguide and Your Mechanic ( both have presence here on UA-cam ) Place the Forester in the top 10 most expensive to maintain over a 10 year period. CVT failure and Head casket failure. As a Perspective Fiat has no cars in the top ten.
I am retired and have a 9 year old car and 20 year old truck. I guess it is time to get a new vehicle. My truck will be needing new tires soon so I guess I need to buy a new truck. All ready have new tires on the car. Did they lease the 17 so that was why they got a new one?

These folks are so in love with their ride that their minds are making their eyes see things. The looks are not different or quirky, it has the same potato shape and looks as most other SUVs.
so was that an exhaust from nameless or lachute or just the tips from a Forester? I have the same in a 19 3.5r and the exhaust sounded a good bit different than my stock one., Also, the 19mm sway bar seems to be more common on the forum I frequent; with some adding upgraded bushings from traildog. My overall mpg meter shows 25.8mpg.
I love this car! The brown paint and nut interior is beautiful. I had some service done on my Forester recently and had a loaner for a day and loved the Outback. Very possible my next car will be the new Outback with the turbo four and touring trim. Cant wait to drive the new model! BTW, just turned 170k on my 14 Forester...its a beast and just a great performer as well...time to upgrade!
OK, come on, she's talking about the general appearance within the car line she was interested in buying. My experience here in Chicago is almost all I see are white (like she said) or silver.
Such a nice couple. And EXACTLY what i would want to do with my dog driving cross country. And yes folks there doing it in style it's a beautiful car. However, i'm NOT a fan of the brown interior. I think the Touring should have come with a black and tan color option like the Limited does. The brown exterior with a tan interior would have been gorgeous. I would also have added chrome exterior side mirror covers which you can get on Ebay. They easily install with 3M tape. There chrome tips looks ridiculous and stick out too far i would have gotten the chrome Forester tips which look far better from what i've seen on various forums.
The one thing I hate about my WRX is that I can roll up.the back windows if I turn the engine off. Just the backs, before you open the doors you can roll up all the windows but the back...
Bextar636 2019 is a big step up year for Subaru going to the global platform and redoing the engine management so it doesn’t cut power so bad when off-roading has been a god send lol nymph the fact they finally stepped it up with interiors
goatmonkey2112 that’s not what happened at all not was it a weakness of the awd but a weakness of the engine management with the cvt and cutting power which they’ve reworked but hey the more you know
I'm not too sure what the purpose of this video was. I guess TFL wants to show what owning a stock Subaru Outback with a cheap license plate frame, horrible looking exhaust tips and an annoying owner is like. I don't see how this video adds to the channel in any way. TFL, if you read this comment, make some changes! Showing old folks and featuring stock, run-of-the-mill cars surely doesn't lower the age of your viewers or get more views, which is why I presume you added Tommy to the team.
The Outback 3.6R is a brilliant sleeper luxury car and it's surprisingly quick. Does a respectable 7 second 1/4 mile and will hit almost 140. Love the 3.6R 6-cylinder and it's a shame it's being replaced by a turbo 4-cylinder. They don't handle that well and braking is not great but otherwise it's one of the best cars on the market especially with the 6-cylinder. Leslie and Chuck need some TFL fashion advice! Wow those high water shorts and tucked in shirt scream old guy tourist!
@@carminedauria-gupta2561 Proven reliability and smoothness of Flat-6. And I'd lose my luddite badge. I want to see how reliable the 2.4 turbo is before considering one. A 260 hp, 277 lb-ft flat-4 in the Outback is going to be a fairly quick wagon not sports car territory but respectable performance.
I doubt that car ever sees 140mph. I would love to see a video of it doing that verified by gps. Also 7 second 0-60 is slow, 7 second 1/4 you must be dreaming
It doesn’t do well that their opinion on car financing seems to be based on poor judgement. Therefore hard for me to respect their opinions especially on the CVT because both the 17 and 19 have it.
Me. I went from an ‘13 Mustang GT to a ‘17 Focus ST to a ‘17 CPO Fusion Sport over 5 years. I made money on both the Mustang and Focus ST by buying them at a huge discount as leftover models from the previous year and then selling them privately to enthusiasts before depreciation negated that discount. Those profits left me at a net positive from where I started even after switching to a fully loaded Fusion Sport, which I bought CPO at a huge discount since the dealership needed to make room on the lot for the new Rangers. I also raised my credit score 120 points in 3 years by paying off the first two loans early. Not all car buying decisions are bad, contrary to what the internet says. I have to admit, I didn’t do all that to make money though. I switched to the Focus because I moved somewhere that gets snow. Then I switched to a big safe sedan because we decided to have a kid. I was just able to make it work out in my favor financially with careful planning. I’m inclined to think a fella that wears his shorts that high didn’t let himself get upside down on his car loan either. He even bought the last year of a generation to get the most reliable version rather than buying the first year of a new generation so he knows what he’s doing.
Since they like 4WD and station wagon or hatchback type of cars, I imagine that for their next car they would say "Instead of Tires We Bought A New 2020 Tesla Model Y | Dude I am Crazy about My New Ride!"

The salesperson couldn't have been nicer..seriously? They saw you coming from a mile away. How much did you pay for the rub strips on the side? You can buy them paint matched online for less then 100 bucks. Have you owned a Subaru longer the the warranty? We've owned 3 outbacks and a Legacy Wagon dating back to 1994. We are pretty much done with the brand, our latest 2009 Outback had *so* many issues (I could go on forever)...it's basically had the entire power train replaced over the past 10 years. The capper was 4 years ago a bolt backed out of the torque converter and sent itself through the rear of the engine block and embedded itself into the rearmost main crankshaft bearing cap which of course caused a catastrophic engine failure. This happened in Montana, we live in PA.....the closest dealership repaired the car-new short-block, associated parts etc for 5 thousand dollars and we had to get the car shipped back to us when it was done. Subaru denied our warranty claim (at the time it was 4 thousand miles out of warranty) so....in a nutshell, screw them. I bought a new Hyundai 5 years ago and haven't had one single thing go wrong with it yet, this past week, we replaced the Subie with a new 2019 Hyundai Tuscon. Might seem like small potatoes for a large company like Subaru, but I see and talk to a lot of people in my line of work.....I can't tell you the amount of people I've steered away from buying a Subaru PS- the stealership installed your exhaust tips upside down....take it back and have them fix it.

Also according to Autoguide and Your Mechanic ( both have presence here on UA-cam ) Place the Forester in the top 10 most expensive to maintain over a 10 year period. CVT failure and Head casket failure. As a Perspective Fiat has no cars in the top ten.
I kinda want one, but can't swing two car payments and there is no way my wife would give up the F150 w/2.7.
I have a 2016 F150 with no payments. I'm driving it till the wheels fall off
The coolest people I've ever seen! I hope you'll have many happy miles in your Subie! Awesome car
I am retired and have a 9 year old car and 20 year old truck. I guess it is time to get a new vehicle. My truck will be needing new tires soon so I guess I need to buy a new truck. All ready have new tires on the car. Did they lease the 17 so that was why they got a new one?
Live very close to "The Dragon". Don't drive it or ride it 'cause people in Subaru's are IN THE WAY.
The dragon is a motorcycle road not a Subaru road lol
Love this couple!
Husband and i will be just like them
We've owned 5 as a couple (+more)
And will Definetly own more!!
she keeps saying she doesn't want to be like everybody else when everybody else is saying the exact same thing... so that makes her just like everybody else. (-_-) tsss
as we approach 8 billion people on this planet, there is no such thing as being unique.
The same can be said for all the 20-something lemmings getting tattoos.
These folks are so in love with their ride that their minds are making their eyes see things. The looks are not different or quirky, it has the same potato shape and looks as most other SUVs.
Given the fact the 2020 outback is coming out it’s hard to watch this. I’m ok with my outback because mines the 2015
What a beautiful Outback. Gorgeous color choice.
so was that an exhaust from nameless or lachute or just the tips from a Forester?
"I don't like being like everyone else"
*Buys stock Subaru with OEM Subaru upgrades*
112 224 448 thought the same thing lol
OK, come on, she's talking about the general appearance within the car line she was interested in buying. My experience here in Chicago is almost all I see are white (like she said) or silver.
I would wait for 2020 model
Forester, Outback, and Ascent all have heated steering wheels...
These folks are genuine Ohioans for sure hah.
Ryan Martinage Maybe but I like them nonetheless!
@@rod22lt I say this having lived there myself in Cleveland for a while. Not hating.
Isn't the Ascent their top of the line?
if you mean big, yes. if you mean fancy, it's a tie.
Great color combo indeed.
Was in an Uber outback 3.6r had like 211k mi. Ran and sounded brand new.
Couldn't wait 3 more months for the 2020?
Probably got a good deal on this 2019 which - with over 500 miles on the odo - was likely a demo.
They said they didn’t want the 2020 being the first year of a new generation and wanting them to work out any possible bugs with them.
The one thing I hate about my WRX is that I can roll up.the back windows if I turn the engine off. Just the backs, before you open the doors you can roll up all the windows but the back...
Where is the Lincoln aviator grand touring video.
Why not wait for 2020?
Subaru? Are they still making them i havent seen one on the road in a long time or maybe they are just boring to get noticed.
Guess Roman is not mad at Subaru any longer..
Bextar636 2019 is a big step up year for Subaru going to the global platform and redoing the engine management so it doesn’t cut power so bad when off-roading has been a god send lol nymph the fact they finally stepped it up with interiors
Is he mad at Subaru? I thought they just wouldn't give them cars anymore because they broke one and showed the weaknesses of their AWD system.
goatmonkey2112 that’s not what happened at all not was it a weakness of the awd but a weakness of the engine management with the cvt and cutting power which they’ve reworked but hey the more you know
@@wolvesdengaming4844 Yep, you're right. It has been a while since I watched that video.
Well it is a brown station wagon, but it isn't stick shift or used from the factory, so Reddit would pass.
Nice interview/review. Sadly, UA-cam did not exist the last time I bought a new vehicle.
2020 Subaru Outback XT tow test with the max 3,500lbs please. Mpg, Ike, light trail towing, the whole shebang. Thank you!
I’m so happy just because they are from the great state of Ohio❤️ where I’m from. I hope you a safe trip back to Ohio guys.
she doesn't let my man get a word in
I would love to know where you got those exhaust tips, and the brand
She: "honey, shut up and let me do the talking." 😎
I'm not too sure what the purpose of this video was. I guess TFL wants to show what owning a stock Subaru Outback with a cheap license plate frame, horrible looking exhaust tips and an annoying owner is like. I don't see how this video adds to the channel in any way. TFL, if you read this comment, make some changes! Showing old folks and featuring stock, run-of-the-mill cars surely doesn't lower the age of your viewers or get more views, which is why I presume you added Tommy to the team.
$100 says these that typical Karen that cruises in the left lane doing 5 under the limit too.
Hello Richmond heights! Im here in Medina!
She gave Andre a run for his money as to who was going to do the talking, LOL
Love the wheels, the openings look like lava lamps and the spaceship from asteroids.
Andrey is talking like a rapper/Italian the way he moves his arms! 🤣
Dylan Mitchell 7 second quarter mile? Cars with 4x that power barely hit 7 seconds
@@Warrendiehl 7 second 0-60, 15 second 1/4 mile
Turbo r gets better gas mileage. Why wouldn’t you want it?
@@carminedauria-gupta2561 Proven reliability and smoothness of Flat-6. And I'd lose my luddite badge.
I want to see how reliable the 2.4 turbo is before considering one. In a couple years we''ll see how it's holding up. The specs are there more power and torque plus better fuel economy and performance at altitude.
We have an 04' and love it! Will drive it till it dies or rusts away due to Ohio winters lol.
Subaru: THE CAR for grandma and grandpa
I will NEVER own another car with a CVT. Even my 4 seat UTV has had trouble with the CVT. Screw that crap.
Rich Farfugnuven sadly I believe it’s here to stay
@Eat Jat you have to remember no power in a Prius though to stress that CVT. I can fry a belt in my 200HP SxS pretty quick.
It doesn’t do well that their opinion on car financing seems to be based on poor judgement. Therefore hard for me to respect their opinions especially on the CVT because both the 17 and 19 have it.
Who the hell goes through 3 cars in a 8 year time span?
Most self employed.
A fairly large amount of people. I, for one, can't stand to keep a car for more than 3 years.
alot of people but im thinking of cheap beaters \
6:13 you mentioned 2015 was the first year the Outback had EyeSight. Wrong! Was 1999 in Japan, in the (JDM) Lancaster.
Since they like 4WD and station wagon or hatchback type of cars, I imagine that for their next car they would say
"Instead of Tires We Bought A New 2020 Tesla Model Y | Dude I am Crazy about My New Ride!"
CarVertical sucks. I ran a report today on a 2014 E250, valuation was in Euros and there were ZERO records for the car. Waste of $14.99.
Do a battle between old hybrids, find a first gen Prius and a Honda Insight
Best year model for outback
I've never heard the term "ginger bread" before, and now I've heard it twice.
Dennis Gaspar yeah, what does she mean by that?
They’ve had nothing but Subarus. Ofcourse they think CVT is great and the car is fast😂
i got 2005 legacy gt turbo first owner i tell you its not that great i got oil leak all over the motor from top to bottom they told me this motor goes up to 3 hundred thousand miles i onlygot 152000 miles go figure
The Tail of the Dragon is ruined because cops patrol it so much and all the bikers. That's what happened to Natchez Trace too, it's all lame now.
go in the winter. the bikers are gone and the cops aren't around because the bikers are gone. At last that was true when I was driving between Clemson and Knoxville back in the day.
I live a few miles from Natchez trace and cyclists can use the whole lane. I stay away from that and the 45 mph speed limit
Running the dragon is highly overrated. It’s no big deal.
the stock tires they had only lasted 20k? thats bs id be mad if i was them.
@@normt5463 dang did i get lucky on mine then? i just replaced mine at 33k, did you do rotations every 5k?
Might seem like small potatoes for a large company like Subaru, but I see and talk to a lot of people in my line of work.....I can't tell you the amount of people I've steered away from buying a Subaru
PS- the stealership installed your exhaust tips upside down....take it back and have them fix it.
Still waiting for offroad test of the Kia Sportage AWD
Absolutely thank you!!I have an sx turbo and would love to see them review it.
@@theburgermeister7214 My friend has a 2012 AWD model and I got to drive it in the sand. I could do donuts all day in this thing. Traction control Off and you can have so much fun. In fact more fun than my 2015 Subaru Forester which is limited by the VDC system and the stupid CVT.
Has there been an episode that they hate the car?
Consumer review is nice thank you guys!
Instead of car vertical, you could also check that shit for free 😂
Nice people but I don’t think this is an unbiased review. The Subaru clan think everything about their vehicles is perfect and the best thing ever.
Definitely not unbiased, and deliberately so. It’s the way this particular show is designed
Just under 40k really? I paid 38k for my 2015 GMC Canyon back in 2015 and it is a whole lot bigger then there Subaru. It has 103,000 miles on it and runs like a dream. City driving it returns ok gas mileage but on the highway I will easily get 25-27mpg.
Your apples-to-oranges comparison makes no sense. A pickup truck is a substantially different vehicle from the Outback these people chose to buy.
Beach Lovin not everyone wants a gm pick up truck. there are hundreds options of vehicles you can buy with 38k.
The exhausts tips changes the ground clearance
Boxer engines are great. CVT is trash!
Will the dealer install the sway bar mentioned at 8:45?
