Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another QUEEN reaction made possible via PATREON with "A Winter's Tale." Freddie stares out his window at the Duck House and gets inspired. It's a beautiful song that combines, heart and dreamy lyrics. Executed flawlessly, Queen gives me more and more every time . See this melancholy song released 4 years after Freddie's passing.

He absolutely knew. As people have already said, this was one of the last songs written and sung by Freddie. And still with that now hauntingly beautiful voice. Brian's guitar is crying and the piano goes up in flames. A lot of symbolism.
He was diagnosed in 1987 and died at the end of 1991, so yes, he knew - he sang for four whole albums (Barcelona, The Miracle, Innuendo, Made In Heaven) knowing. I'm constantly amazed at the strength that must have taken. He said life is for living, and that's what he did, for as long as he could.
Freddie wrote this in Montreux while sitting on his balcony overlooking the beauty he be held. It was toward the end of his life. So so beautiful.
The written words are in Freddie's hand writing
Just to think, our beloved Freddie knew he had only weeks left and all he could sing about was how beautiful the world is. RIP to the great man. xxx
This only is a jewel. He is singing his past thoughts !!! People this is Freddie at his finest. This whole score is his swan song. I cry every time I hear it. Freddie come back.
Thank you Freddie for showing us what you see outside your window. A mellow and tranquil view. Love Freddie Forever❤❤❤
The whole Made In Heaven album was a bittersweet masterpiece. Some of the very best songs they ever made, as with the Innuendo album. The bands creativity reached a level which produced songs whilst they had a dark eerie feeling to them, they just mesmerised you.
This song to me is about a dying mans contentment, at peace with himself.
Great work Dereck.
I love this song and I have a lot of respect for Freddie for having this strength and attitude
I'm still cross it wasn't on their GHs 3 album
imo the album is a bit of an oddment
heaven for everyone, Rogers off his album with the cross in 87 but Freddie also sang it at the time
Born to love you one of Freddie off his solo 85
TMLWKY which Brian co wrote in 87
let me live 83 originally with Rod stewart vocals but was shelved,Brian and Roger changed it after Freddies death
beautiful day from clips Freddie was experimenting with in 85 but it was nice it was made to a final song
made in heaven again one of freddies off his 85 solo
dont fool me, Richards made it into a song
my life has been saved 88 Richards helped John with it but just the title feels off when it's after freddies death
mother love I don't like when I read the lyrics properly it just feels very odd
Someone below mentioned it correctly - Mother Loves was the last song he sang, whereas this one is the last piece he ever wrote !
This is HIS handwriting. He left us a beautiful gift ❤
I wish we could all see the world as Freddy saw it
In this lp mother love make me cry all Time.
This is Freddie enjoying the beauty of life before he passed💛💛💛 Freddie never wanted anyone to be sad ever, he was full of life til the end.
Perhaps the most important lyric, at the end of the 3rd verse.
“My world is spinning
And spinning, and spinning
It's unbelievable, sends me reeling
Am I dreaming?
Am I dreaming?”
An amazing vocal performance.
About Freddie singing in one take: He also did it at The Show Must Go On. But it isn't really surprising, because he sang lots of concerts in one take, without failing and singing really hard stuff. Legends do so...
lol studio records are not recorded like live concerts.
so SMGO was not recorded in one take by Freddie. that would have been unprofessional, lazy, and really bad for the quality of the record
He asked Brian May to help him write and said he’d sing as long as he could. He sang until the last part of Mother Love. He died shortly after. So he sang until he got quite ill with pneumonia and told his loved ones to announce that he had AIDS. He lapsed into a coma and died the next day. I wept for weeks. 😢
This song reflex my winter times with my family....this is one of my top favorites
Freddie kept singing until he could no longer sing in May 1991. He wanted to leave the band enough to be able to work with after his passing. Freddie wrote this and composed the music too. This was all his own. The very last he did. Mother love is his very last song. He went away in May 1991 saying he would return, unfortunately he never did. So Brian and the band revisited it where Brian sung the last verse. Releasing Made In Heaven in 1995. Freddie lived for his music. A true legend.
💚💚🌠💜💜 Big Merci Dereck 💚💚⛄🎠🎄💜💜
This is the brie Freddie seen out his window an wrote the lryics then put his music to it at his flat ! 👑♾️🏔️❄️🌬️🌫️✨🦢🦢🦆🧡💛💙💚💜🖤❤️💌📄🖋️📸🖼️🎻🎸🎹🎤🥁🎨
A beautiful reaction! I fell in love with the song aged 12.
This is one of the last songs Freddie wrote and recorded, and it’s about the view from his window over Lake Geneva. Queen released it in 1995, 4 years after his death using all the tracks he had recorded prior. Its firmly on my Christmas playlist
I love this tune I can picture it every thing he sings 😍
Just a musical Junius what a special man just sad make me cry the man was so ill and yet his voice so beautiful and strong amazing unreal God music thanks for the reaction just perfect like it ❤ 💙 ♥
Beautiful “non-Christmas” song (but should be) by Queen!! Written by Freddie expressing his gratitude for the sights surrounding him!! Definitely a favorite of the Queenies!!
🌙 🌟⭐️💫✨☀️☀️✨ Happy New Year & all the best to you!! 🎉
Terrific in depth reaction to a beautiful song. Please check out White Queen at Odeon Hammersmith,I think this performance is second only to Bohemian Rhapsody. Brian’s Guitar & Freddie’s passionate singing & piano playing are absolutely incredible…..
Freddies Last Song
Freddie sent us a singing Christmas card.
Ive never heard this song before but i did enjoy it. Your reaction...i loved it. You never fail to disappoint. So refreshimg. Love your enthusiasm and your post analysis i find very informative.
The last song Freddie did, he didnt finish it as he became ill. Brian had to finish it and he sings the last verse, its so well done and tender, you can barely tell.
Sorry, Mother Love, was the last song and Brian finished.
I’m sorry I can’t listen without crying. 😢
Dereck please play the Prophet Song from A Night at the Opera. u Will not Believe what u hear!
Can't hear this song and not crying😢😔
You really must try Mother Love, Freddie's last attempt at recording a song as he went away to rest and come back to finish the last verse but never made it back so Dr May, who had written it, had to do the last verse, also it seemed like Brian written it with Freddie in mind. You will be blown away, and perhaps teary, always makes me weep a little. Also, in 1997, Queen released an album called Queen Rocks, of which is a collection of their most rock track but the song is new: a tribute to Freddie by the rest if Queen, called No One but You (only the good die young)
This is the last ever song he recorded. He told Brian to just give him lines and each one he‘ll sing 3 times so they can do whatever they wanted after he‘s gone. One day he said, „I‘m tired. I‘ve got to go home now. I‘ll finish it later.“ He never did, hence Brian singing the last verse.
It was recorded in their studio in Montreux, Switzerland and the lines kind of talk about this place. I‘ve been there and the studio still stands. You actually get to mix this song yourself (this is not quite right - corrected myself in my answer, sorry)
Wait, I think I misremembered and I was actually talking about Mother Love which is the last one. But this was certainly recorded at the last stages of his life too.
It WAS the last song he wrote.
I know this story, too. But about the singing I think it was Mother Love, which he wasn't able to finish. If you listen to it, you can hear that Brian sings the last verse.
You're thinking of Mother Love. Freddie sang this entire song but it I think it was the last he sang in it's entirety. On Mother Love, Brian had to sing the last verse.
You really need to react to the show must go on
Hey, you need to react to "Golden boy" by Freddie mercury and Montserrat Caballe. You said you were and haven't gotten to it yet. Please do. It's really good.
❤❤❤
Un autre très bon morceau de Queen : you don't fool me.
With all
The respect . Please FFFFFF ME
Hi! As a French I really enjoyed to see yours reactions on Jean jacques Goldman. I wonder if you already have seen something about noir désir. I could suggest their first song "aux sombres héros de l'amer" or "Tostaki" or any other song they did, reals geniuses to me. 💛💛
Boring mate unfortunately, by the time that you had finished talking about yourself I was completely uninterested.....ruined the whole experience, I will try to find q video that cares about the subject matter
"Mother Love" was the last song recorded before Freddie's death. The last part of the song was sung by Brian May. As Brian May said later, Freddie said that he needs to go away and have a rest, and then he'll come back and finish it off...' and he never came back.
